Celebrando el auspicioso Ekadasi Ashadi, devotos de Maharashtra y Goa presentaron una mañana colorida de Procesión Dindi , Danza Ganapathi y un drama de baile titulado "La mente maestra, ser un maestro de la mente", hoy en Prashanti Nilayam.

El programa se inició a las 08.30 hrs., después de una media hora cantos Vedicos. Continuo con una simbólica peregrinación, según la tradición secular, de  Varkari Yatra a Pandharpur, la morada del Señor Vitthala, cientos de devotos han llegado ayer por la tarde después de su Dindi Yatra desde Dharmavaram. 

Los hombres vestidos con el estilo típico Maratha, soplaron la caracola, mientras llevaban el palanquín de Señor Vitthala, entrando en el Kulwant Hall,  presentándose a Bhagavan en el Sancta Sanctorum. 
A pesar de que marchaban con paso mesurado, como telón de fondo se escucho la cautivante y encantadora canción famosa en marathi, Hey Oh Vitthale Bhakta Jana Vatsaley ..., cantando al Señor de Pandharpur.

Un espectáculo de color de Danza Ganapathi por la Juventud de Nasik, siguió a la invocación al Señor.

Fue un drama de baile titulado "La mente maestra, ser un maestro de la mente" por los niños  Bal Vikas de Bombay, junto con los más pequeños del Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir de Dharmakshetra.

La presentación retrato la difícil situación del hombre moderno, que está confundido, atrapado por la mente diabólica, en la búsqueda de lo efímero, condenando a sí mismo a la perdición. Cuando la mente ilusoria muere o es asesinada, la luz aparece sobre él como la sabiduría intelectual que prevalece, al  darse cuenta de que "él es el Atma esencia eterna y no es el cuerpo como suele creer y engañarse. 
Trata de la transformación de los protagonistas, de un hombre atrapado en los vaivenes de su mente infeliz a un hombre de una mayor comprensión y sabiduría intelectual;  un buscador  es retratado en escenas animadas de la vida normal, del día a día, de la vida mundana. 

Hacia el final, cuando el protagonista se vuelve hacia Bhagavan, se entrega, en una explosión de una danza de colores, cantando Badhai Ho ... Ho ...! 
Estos pequeños, afirmaron con mucha fe, que algo extraordinario en la historia de la humanidad está en el horizonte.

La presentación se entrelaza con secuencias de colorido baile. El mismo tema fue presentado ante Bhagavan durante una de sus estancias en la ciudad.

Bhajans por los devotos de Maharashtra y Goa, siguieron,  antes de que el Mangala Arathi se ofrecio a las 10:00 hrs. Todos los participantes fueron dotados con presentes especiales y prasadam fue distribuido a todo el conjunto.

Por la noche, el  cantante de Geet Sagar y su compañía, presentará un musical en el Sancta Sanctorum, como parte de las celebraciones Ekadasi Ashadi.

Celebrating auspicious Ashadi Ekadashi, devotees from Maharashtra & Goa presented a colourful morning studded with Dindi Procession, Ganapathi Dance and a Dance Drama entitled Master The Mind Be A Master Mind, today in Prasanthi Nilayam.

The programme commenced at 0830 hrs., after half-an-hour Veda chanting. Symbolic to the age-old tradition of Varkari Yatra to Pandharpur, Abode Of Lord Vitthala, hundreds of devotees have arrived last evening after their Dindi Yatra from Dharmavaram.

Commencing the proceedings men dressed up in typical Maratha style, blowing the conch, carrying the Palanquin Of Lord Vitthala marched into Sai Kulwant Hall, presenting themselves to Bhagawan at the Sanctum Sanctorum. Even as they marched with measured gait, in the backdrop echoed the captivating, enchanting tune of famous Marati song, Hey Oh Vitthale Bhakta Jana Vatsaley…, singing paens of the Lord Of Pandharpur.

A colour pageantry of Ganapathi Dance by the Youth from Nasik followed invoking the Lord Who has no Over Lord, as discoursed by Bhagawan Himself.

Next to come was a Dance Drama entitled Master The Mind Be A Master Mind by the Bal Vikas children of Mumbai along with the tiny tots from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Mandir, Dharmakshetra.

The presentation portrayed the plight of modern day man, who is confused, caught up by devilish mind, seeking the ephemeral, dooming himself to perdition. When the illusory mind dies, or is killed, light dawns upon him as Intellectual Wisdom prevails upon making him realise that ‘he is in essence Eternal Atma and not the body as he is often deluded to believe. The protagonists transformation from a man trapped in the vagaries of his wretched mind to a man of greater understanding and intellectual wisdom to finally, into an intense seeker was well portrayed bringing lively scenes from normal day-to-day worldly life.

Towards the end, as the protagonist turned towards Bhagawan surrendering himself, tiny tots burst into a colourful dance singing Badhai Ho…Badhai Ho...meaning congratulations! Hailing Beloved Bhagawan, these tiny tots affirmed with greater faith that something extra-ordinary in the history of mankind is in the offing.

The presentation was interlaced with colour dance sequences. The same theme was presented before Bhagawan during one of His sojourns to the city.

Bhajans by the Maharashtra & Goa devotees followed before Mangala Arathi at 10:00 hrs. All the participants were gifted with special presentations and Prasadam was distributed to the entire assemblage.

In the evening, upcoming singer Geet Sagar and troupe will present a Musical Bouquet at the Sanctum Sanctorum as part of Ashadi Ekadashi celebrations.

Deseando a todos y cada uno de nuestros queridos hermanos y hermanas Sai, toda la felicidad en este Santo "Ekadasi Toli o" Ekadasi Ashada , elevamos las oraciones a nuestro Divino Señor Krishna Sai, para que nos de toda la fuerza, para extender y ampliar su mensaje divino, para que más y más personas se puedan beneficiar.


Ashadi Ekãdasi es uno de los más importantes Vratas observados como la primera Ekadasi. Cae en el undécimo día de Ashad Maasa. El festival es también conocido por una variedad de nombres tales como Harivasara Ekadasi, Ekadasi Devshayani, Ekadasi Harisayani y Sayana Ekadasi.

En Maharashtra, el Ekadasi Ashadi marca el comienzo del Pandharpur Palki Yatra en el Templo Vithoba. Los 17 días de duración del Ashadi Waari Palki Yatra, termina el día de Ekadasi Aashadi en el Templo Pandharpur Vithal. Un gran número de devotos acostumbran darse un chapuzón en el río Godavari en este día, como parte de los rituales del festival y rendir pleitesía a Rama en el templo Kala Ram.

El Señor Vishnu está en Yog Nidra o la meditación cósmica a partir del día de hoy y continuara durante los siguientes cuatro meses. Los cuatro meses se consideran como un período santo y se observa como Puja Chaturmasa. Kartika Ekadasi o Ekadasi Utthana también llamado el Deva Prabodhini Ekadasi se celebra el día que el Señor Vishnu abre los ojos y termina el sueño cósmico. Kartika Ekadasi Yatra es de nuevo un festival de peregrinación al Templo Pandharpur Vithoba.

El día tiene una gran importancia, especialmente para el culto Bhakti Maharashtra. 
Los 2 principales exponentes de Bhakti en Maharashtra Jnaneshwar "Sant Tukaram  llega a la morada de Vitthal en Aashadi Ekadasi. Caminando durante 15 días y cantando las alabanzas de la  deidad Vitthal . Llegando a la ermita del deityâ en el día de hoy, donde fueron bendecidos por la divinidad. 

Maharashtrians rinden homenaje a la peregrinación llevando a cabo el Yatra Pandharpur o el Yatra Dindi a pie al santuario de Pandharpur Vitthala. Los devotos de Vitthala se llaman Varkaris y llevan el Palaki ~ "de Sant Jnaneshwar y Sant Tukaram.

Wishing each and everyone of our Dear Sai Brothers and Sisters all the happiness on this Holy "Toli Ekadasi or "Ashada Ekadasi today, Prayers to our Divine Lord Sai Krishna that He gives us all the strength to spread His Divine Message further and wider so that more and more people can be benefitted.


Ashadi Ekadasi is one of the most important Vrata observed as the first Ekadashi. It falls on the eleventh day of Ashad Maasa. The festival is also known by a variety of names such as Harivasara Ekadashi, Devshayani Ekadashi, Harisayani Ekadashi and Sayana Ekadashi.

In Maharashtra, the Ashadi Ekadashi marks the beginning of Pandharpur Palki Yatra in the Vithoba Temple. The 17 days long Ashadi Waari Palki Yatra ends on the day of Aashadi Ekadashi in Pandharpur Vithal Temple. A large number of devotees take a dip in the Godavari River on this day as part of the festival rituals and pay obeisance to Rama at the Kala Ram temple.

Lord Vishnu is in Yog nidra or cosmic meditation starting on this day and continuing for the following four months. The four months are considered to be a holy period and is observed as Chaturmasa Puja. The day has great significance, especially for the Maharashtrian Bhakti cult. The 2 main exponents of Bhakti in Maharashtra “ Sant Jnaneshwar and Sant Tukaram reached the abode of Vitthal on Aashadi Ekadashi. They walked on foot for 15 days singing praises of the deity Vitthal. They reached the deityâ's shrine on this day where they were blessed by the deity.

Maharashtrians pay homage to the pilgrimage by undertaking the Pandharpur Yatra or the Dindi Yatra by foot to the Pandharpur Vitthala shrine. The devotees of Vitthala are called Varkaris and they carry the ˜Palaki" of Sant Jnaneshwar and Sant Tukaram.

CELEBRACIONES previas a  Guru Purnima .


¡Qué hermoso día para una puja a Ganesha. David y yo nos levantamos temprano y nos preparamos para la instalación del Señor Ganesh en la puerta del Gopuram de Prashanti Nilayam. Llegamos a las 5:30 AM, donde un pequeño grupo de devotos se habían reunido para la puja auspiciosa. Había una estrella colorida dibujada en el suelo delante de la entrada de la puerta. Pudimos ver la plataforma con cortinas, donde el Señor Ganesha se coloco a esperar para su inauguración. Me dijeron (no verificado) que este era el verdadero ídolo de Ganesha que había ocupado un lugar cerca de nuestro amado Baba, durante tantos años en el interior del mandir. Ahora que la segunda puerta se abrió para los devotos, para entrar y salir era lógico que Sri Ganesh otorgara Sus bendiciones sobre ellos.


Después de la llegada de unos pocos dignatarios estelares, la puja comenzó. Los sacerdotes encendieron las llamas en todos los puntos de la estrella y en el centro. También se lanzó el coco en esa zona. David y yo decidimos ir al interior del ashram y tener una mejor vista. Había lugares para sentarse alrededor del ídolo de Ganesh. Después de algún tiempo y mucho cantar, el gran momento llegó y el Señor Ganesh se mostró en todo su esplendor. Las aves sagradas en círculos en  los cielos y las esponjosas nubes blancas, y doblamos las manos en oración.  

Sri Ganesh refleja un aura sobrenatural por todas las oraciones y la devoción que se ha vertido sobre él en los últimos años.


El fuego Yagna de Sri Ganesha, fue a unos pocos metros de la base del Mandir, después de que algún objeto fue lanzado a las llamas, tres asistentes subieron a la plataforma al Señor Ganesha, vertiendo ofrendas en  la parte superior. Entonces el ídolo fue bañado con una variedad de líquidos, se lavó , se secó y se vistió. Los sacerdotes nos rociaron con las aguas Abishekam. También se nos dio un poco de aceite y cúrcuma amarilla del yagna. Al término de la ceremonia prasadam dulce fue distribuido.


Las celebraciones continuaron a las pocas horas. Al cuarto para las 10 am, después de los Bhajans nuestro divino Sai centró su atención en el Árbol de la meditación, Vatavriksha. Una puja que conmemora el 53 aniversario de este árbol sagrado se llevó a cabo. Me maravillé de las lilas de nuestro Señor, una semana antes empece a visitar al árbol de la meditación y experimente algunas visiones espirituales maravillosas.


El sacerdote que asistió a Swami en los últimos años, realizo el Arathi , así como el nuevo sacerdote más joven. Cantó algunos mantras, mientras que se realizaba la puja. El glorioso trono rojo de Swami estaba a la vista para que todos lo adoren. El árbol de la meditación completamente consciente del honor que se le confirió, abrió sus ramas aún más amplias, dando la bienvenida a todos con alegría y amor. Después de la puja, los estudiantes cantaron unos pocos bhajans. "Sai bhajana Bina Sukha Shanti Nahi" resonó con dulzura.


Después de Arathi, se nos dio a todos prasadam dulce y se nos permitió tocar el santo trono de Swami. Me agaché emocionado hasta la médula con la cabeza apoyada sobre sus pies, consciente de que estaba sentado y todavía se encuentra allí para siempre! 

A continuación, repartieron flores, hojas y hierbas de la puja al Vatavriksha.


Fue el preludio de lo divino a las celebraciones reales de Guru Purnima, programados para comenzar mañana ..

GURU POORNIMA CELEBRATIONS.



What a beautiful day for a Ganesha puja. David and I arose early and got ready for the installation of Lord Ganesh at the Gopuram gate of Prashanti Nilayam. We arrived at 5:30 AM where a small crowd of devotees had assembled for the auspicious puja. There was a colorful star drawn on the ground in front of the entrance of the gate. We could see the curtained platform where Lord Ganesha sat waiting for His unveiling. I was told (not verified) that this was the actual Ganesha idol that had occupied a place near our beloved Baba for so many years inside the mandir. Now that the second gate was opened for devotees to enter and exit it was only fitting that Sri Ganesh bestow His blessings on them.


After the arrival of a few stellar dignitaries the puja began. The priests lit flames on all the points of the star and in the center. They also dashed coconuts on that area. David and I decided to go inside the ashram and get a better view. There were places to sit around the idol of Ganesh. After some time and much chanting the great moment arrived and Lord Ganesh was unveiled in all His splendor. Holy birds circled the cerulean heavens and fluffy white clouds folded their hands in prayer. Sri Ganesh's All-Seeing Eye reflected an otherworldly aura from all the prayers and devotion that has been poured on Him over the years.


The yagna fire for Sri Ganesha was a few feet away at the base of the mandir after some object was thrown in the flames, three attendants climbed Lord Ganesha's platform pouring oblations on the top steeple. Then the idol was bathed with a variety of liquids, washed down, dried and robed. The priests sprinkled us with abishekam waters. We were also give some of the charred oil and yellow tumeric from the yagna. At the conclusion of the ceremony sweet prasadam was distributed.


The celebrations continued a few hours later. At quarter to 10 after bhajans our divine Sai turned His attention on the Meditation Tree, Vatariksha. A puja commemorating the 53rd anniversary of this sacred tree was conducted. I marveled at the leelas of our Lord, a week earlier I started coming to the meditation tree and experiencing some wonderful spiritual visions.


The priest who attended Swami over the years, performing arathi was there as well as the new younger priest. He chanted some mantras while conducting the puja. Swami's glorious red throne stood in full view for all to adore. The Meditation Tree completely aware of the honor being bestowed upon it opened its boughs even wider, welcoming all with joy and love. After the puja the students sang a few bhajans. “Sai bhajana bina sukha shanti nahi” resonated sweetly through the esteemed gathering and the Vatariksha swayed in tune to the heartfelt melody.


After Arathi we were all given sweet prasadam and allowed to touch Swami's holy throne. I bent down thrilled to the core resting my head on His Feet, touching the Lap that sat and still sits there forever! We then cast flowers, leaves and grasses from the puja onto Vatariksha.


It was a divine prelude to the actual Guru Poornima celebrations scheduled to commence tomorrow..

¿Cual debería ser el camino de ahora en adelante para los devotos Sai, después del 24 de abril de 2011? 

Lo que sigue es un escrito del hermano sai B. Aravindh con el título " El camino ahora en adelante para los Devotos de Sai- una Inspiración del Mahabarata " - que debe ser leído por cada devoto sai:


Ya han pasado más de catorce meses desde que las lágrimas me brotaron como nunca antes. No puedo acordarme de otro momento cuando lloré como lo hice aquel entonces, y no creo que vaya a llorar así nunca más. Al ver a Swami en Su forma física, el día 24 de abril de 2011, causó una sensación en mis entrañas que nunca antes he sentido.

El Amor sin apego es un concepto maravilloso pero yo creo que con todos los recuerdos que tenemos vienen del apego que el amor trae consigo. Swami ha sido tan significativo en mi vida. Él me llenó con todo y al mismo tiempo me dejo con un vacío tan grande. ¿Cómo es posible que este tan completo y al mismo tiempo tan vacío?


He estado leyendo las tiras cómicas del Mahabarata de Amar Chitra Katha desde hace tiempo.

Cambiando de tema recomiendo la lectura de estas maravillosas tiras cómicas. Me quito el sombrero delante de Amar Chitra Katha por inmortalizar estas maravillosas historias para siempre. Me siento tan felíz al leerlos desde mi infancia. Hoy día los comics son de los Transformers, Spiderman, Chota Bheem, Bey Blades y otros del  cartoon network. No tengo nada en contra de ellos, pero me da tristeza que haya muchos niños que no tienen conocimiento de nuestra gloriosa cultura. Los de Amar Chitra Katha, son igualmente entretenidos y llenos de virtudes, carácter, nobleza, acción correcta y educación para la vida. Los recomiendo para todas las edades.

He estado devorando las páginas del Mahabharatha en los últimos días y mientras estaba leyendo, constantemente me acordaba de una historia que narró Swami. Y esa historia se transformó en una inspiración increíble. Swami habló de la preocupación del hermano mayor de los Pandavas, Dharmaja, cuando terminó la gran guerra del Mahabharatha. Vamos a recordar un poco aquella época así podemos apreciar mejor la situación.

Después de años de dolor y de trabajo en los bosques y en viviendas temporales, comenzó la gran guerra del Mahabharatha para los hermanos Pandava. Ellos han pasado por todo en la vida, pero siempre han tenido al Señor Krishna a su lado, guiándolos y protegiéndolos a ellos. En una terrible guerra de 18 días, los injustos Kauravas fueron liquidados y el Dharma retomó su camino. Los Pandavas estaban por comenzar las celebraciones después de un largo período de miseria, cuando les llego una noticia terrible , El Señor Krishna , amigo, filósofo y guía ,  había dejado Su cuerpo.

Al escuchar esto, Kunti, la madre de los Pandavas cayó muerta de inmediato y los Pandavas estaban muy tristes. Ellos decidieron de inmediato renunciar a todo e irse a los Himalayas para pasar el resto de sus vidas. Y ahora, como dice Swami, Dharmaja se enfrentaba a una situación muy difícil, la cual manejó con gran ecuanimidad.



El llamó a sus cuatro hermanos y les encargó a cada uno con una tarea:


1) Hacer los preparativos para las celebraciones de la victoria del Dharma sobre el Adharma.

2) Hacer los preparativos para el funeral de la madre.

3) Hacer los preparativos para el viaje de renunciación a los Himalayas.

4) Hacer los preparativos para la coronación de su joven nieto - Parikshith.


Swami siempre alaba la ecuanimidad que demostró el hermano mayor de los Pandavas y la diligencia con que el ejecutó su Dharma (deber).


He escuchado esta historia muchas veces. Pero últimamente, analice la historia desde un punto de vista distinto - desde el que iba a ser el nuevo líder, Parikshith. He estado pensando cómo habría sido para él esa situación.

La manera como el obtuvo su nombre es interesante. Se dirigió un misil en su contra, cuando él estaba en el vientre de su madre. Fue el Señor Krishna quien intervino y salvo el feto. Y así, cuando nació el niño, constantemente buscaba entre las caras a su salvador. Él sonrió solamente después de que tuvo el darshan del Señor Krishna. Entonces, le nombró “Parikshith” - él que busca, él que examina. Esa fue su única experiencia con el Señor.
Entonces Dharmaja tomo las decisiones importantes con ecuanimidad, y Parikshith enfrentaba la prueba de su vida. Su Señor Krishna se fue. Su bisabuela había caído muerta. Sus tíos abuelos, los embajadores del Dharma - los Pandavas - estaban renunciando a todo, incluyéndolo a él, y se van a ser Sanyasas (renunciantes). En medio de todo esto, él no podía estar de luto, sino que tenia que hacerse cargo de un imperio vasto y gobernar con justicia. Él tenia que ser la columna en que se apoyen sus súbitos.

Los hermanos Pandavas camino a los Himalayas después de haber reinado en el reino por muchos años con el Señor Krishna a sus lado.


Hoy, aun cuando todavía siento el vacio en mi corazón, siento que la situación es similar. Había algunos devotos maravillosos como el Dr. Savitriamma (quien manejaba muy bien el hospital general en Whitefield) y la Sra. Prabha Sridharan ( quien fue la mejor entre las damas en el grupo de bajans en Brindavan y fue entrenada personalmente por Swami) quienes dejaron el cuerpo después del Mahasamadhi.

(Por favor, toma en cuenta que el término 'Mahasamadhi' se menciona acá solamente en término indicativo. Por favor no entre en polémica por eso.)


Y también hay algunas similitudes en los Pandavas - grandes seres en la familia Sai que han sido instrumentos de Swami todo el tiempo. Ellos están muy tristes porque sus vidas enteras la habían pasado a los divinos pies de Swami. Sin embargo, con gran ecuanimidad están cumpliendo con sus deberes, esperando la sangre nueva y la juventud para que tomen las riendas. Ellos han liberado muchas batallas y el Señor les había guiado a ellos en todo. Pero de pronto, estarán en marcha a los Himalayas en la búsqueda de la salvación.
Finalmente, la mayoría de nosotros estamos como el joven Parikshith. Un imperio ha sido puesto a nuestro cargo - un imperio de Valores y Amor. Físicamente, nuestro Señor se ha ido y los venerables mayores están empujándonos a tomar las riendas. Y nosotros tenemos que ser columnas de fuerza y asumir la responsabilidad. No siempre estuvimos físicamente con el Señor, pero lo hemos experimentado a Él de una manera u otra y sabemos así como Parikshith, Él es la razón de nuestras vidas.
Parikshith gobernó sabiamente y con prudencia. Él siempre buscaba los grandes actos de sus tíos como inspiraciones y con el Dios Krishna siempre guiándole desde adentro. The road ahead for Sai devotees - Inspiration from the Mahabharata.






It has been more than fourteen months now since the day when tears welled up in me like never before. I cannot think of any other time when I have cried the way I did then nor do I think I will ever cry like that again. Seeing Swami in His physical state on the 24th of April 2011 made my heart experience something that it never has before.

Love without attachment is a beautifully fantastic concept but I think that all the memories we savour arise from the attachment that love brings with it. Swami has been such an influence in my life. He has filled it like nothing else ever can and at the same time left such a gaping void. How can someone be so fulfilling and so ‘vacuuming’ at the same time?

I have been reading the Mahabharatha comics from Amar Chitra Katha for some time now.

A small detour here. I must recommend these awesome comics for and and all! Hats off to Amar Chitra Katha for immortalizing these glorious stories for all times to come. I feel so happy to have grown up, reading them. Today, the comics are all about Transformers, Spiderman, Chota Bheem, Bey Blades and the likes popularized on cartoon network. I have nothing against them but feel saddened that not many children know our glorious culture. The Amar Chitra Katha comics, I must say, are equally exciting and also full of virtue, character, nobility, righteousness and education for life. I recommend them for all ages!

I have been devouring through the pages of the Mahabharatha for the last few days and as I was reading it, I was repeatedly reminded of a story that Swami narrates. And that story transformed into an intense inspiration. Swami speaks about the plight of the eldest Pandava brother, Dharmaja, at the end of the great Mahabharatha war. Let us relive those times briefly so that we appreciate his situation.

After years of toil and pain in forests and temporary dwellings, the great Mahabharatha war begins for the Pandava brothers. They have faced the grind of mortal life but have always relied on their Lord Krishna who has always been by their side, guiding and guarding them. In 18 days of terrible war, the unrighteous Kaurava brothers are vanquished and Dharma is back on track. Celebrations are about to begin after a very long time of misery for the Pandavas, when they hear a most dreadful news - their Lord Krishna - friend, philosopher and guide - has left His mortal coils.

On hearing this, Kunti, the mother of the Pandavas drops dead instantly and the Pandavas are plunged into grief. What was to be a moment of celebration becomes a moment of great renunciation. They decide immediately to renounce everything and go into the Himalayas to spend the last leg of their lives. And now, as Swami says, Dharmaja faces a very difficult situation which he handles with great equanimity.

He calls his four brothers and entrusts them with one task each :

1) To make preparations for the celebrations of the victory of Dharma over Adharma.

2) To make preparations for the mother’s funeral.

3) To make preparations for the renouncing journey to the Himalayas.

4) To make preparations for the coronation of their youthful grandson - Parikshith.

Swami always praises the equanimity which this eldest Pandava brother exhibited and the diligence with which he carried out his Dharma or duty.

I have heard this story many times. But of late, I have viewed the story from a different perspective - that of the going-to-be-ruler, Parikshith. I was wondering how it must have been for him.

The way he got his name is an interesting story in itself. A missile had been directed to him when he was in the womb. It was Lord Krishna who had divinely intervened and had saved the foetus. And so, when the baby was born, it was constantly checking faces to identify its saviour. It smiled only after it had thedarshan of Krishna. So, the baby was named, “Parikshith” - one who examines. That was his only experience with the Lord.

And as Dharmaja took the major decisions in equanimity, Parikshith was facing the test of his life. His Lord Krishna was gone. His doting great-grandmother had dropped dead. His great uncles, the ambassadors of Dharma - the Pandavas - were giving up everything, including him, and leaving for Sanyasa. Amidst all this, he was not to grieve but take over the responsibility of a vast empire and rule justly. He was to be the pillar of strength to his subjects.

The Pandava brothers marched away to the Himalayas after ruling the kingdom for years with Lord Krishna by their side.


Today, even as I still feel the void in my heart, I feel the situation is so similar. There have been some wonderful devotees like Dr.Savitriamma (who superbly manned the general hospital in Whitefield) and Mrs.Prabha Sridharan (who was the foremost among the ladies bhajan group at Brindavan whom Swami personally trained) who gave up their mortal coils soon after the Mahasamadhi.

(Please note that the term 'Mahasamadhi' is being used here only in an indicative manner. Please do not go into the semantics of it.)

And then there are some like the Pandavas - grand people in the Sai Family who have been Swami’s instruments always. They are in great grief for their entire lives have been spent at His Feet. And yet, with great equanimity, they are carrying out their duties, preparing for fresh blood and the youth to step in. They have fought many battles and have been guided by the Lord to do everything. But soon, they will be marching off to Himalayan heights to seek their salvation.

Finally, the majority of us are like the lad Parikshith! An empire has been entrusted to us - an empire of Values and Love. Physically, our Lord has left and the venerable elders are encouraging us to take up the reins. And we have to be pillars of strength and take up our responsibility. We have not stayed always with the Lord physically but we have experienced Him in our own ways and we know that just like for Parikshith, He is the reason for our lives.

Parikshith did rule wisely and well. He always looked up the glorious deeds of his great uncles for inspiration and always had his God Krishna guiding him from within. He died a wonderful death and in death too, he ensured that the Bhagawatham - stories of Lord Krishna - sprouted in every heart.

King Parikshith spent the last 7 days of his life listening to the glories of his Lord from sage Suka and had a death as wonderful and glorious as his birth and life!


As we live, let our lives be part of the Sai Bhagawatham that has no beginning or an end. May our love for Swami grow stronger every passing moment. Let us remember what He once told a student, “Bangaroo, I don’t want you to die for me. I want you to live for me!”

Árbol de la meditación Época cumplió 53 hoy en día ..... Estatua de Ganesha instalado esta mañana y otras actualizaciones ....

El Señor que escribió un tratado sobre la Meditación Divina, titulado Dhyana Vahini, con su visión  Divina,  planto un árbol pequeño en la colina idílica, en el lado oriental del Mandir de Prasanthi, hace cinco décadas, precisamente el 29 de junio de 1959. 
Bhagavan entonces declaró que los yoguis, que han alcanzado un cierto grado de progreso espiritual, de forma automática, llegaran a saber de este árbol y la placa mística con inscripciones,  materializada por Él en los bancos de arena del rió Chitravati,  conducirán  las fuerzas misteriosas de estos hacia el bosque de la meditación ! .
Este árbol de la meditación trascendental cumplió 53 hoy en día.

Conmemorando la ocasión, se llevó a cabo una función en la cima de la colina, en el bosque de la meditación, esta mañana, al que asistieron miembros del Trust, funcionarios, estudiantes y aficionados.
Comenzó con la ofrenda ritual especial  y continuó hasta cerca de las 09.30 hrs., por la mañana, un flujo constante de devotos llegaron para los bhajans  y el Mangala Arathi  , cómodamente ocuparon  la colina detrás de la arboleda, y el área alrededor, observando los procedimientos.

Después de la especial 'Puja Vruksha',  incluso cuando los cantos de los Vedas por el sacerdote oficiante continuaban, los estudiantes corearon el Sai Ashtotharam (nombres de Sai), que fue seguido por el Arathi al árbol. Tres bhajans siguieron, que comenzó en especial invocando a Bhagavan con el particular Namavali Ashtothara refiriéndose a él como el 'Vatavriksha Pratishtapaka', el que puso el árbol de la meditación. 
El programa culminó con el Mangala Arathi a las 10:30 hrs. Prasadam fue distribuido a toda la asamblea.

Como parte de un plan de remodelaciones, la primera fase de remodelación de este bosque se ha completado. Cercada con postes de iluminación, el bosque cuenta con un espacio circular alrededor con cerámicas, donde los devotos pueden sentarse y meditar, a gusto. 
Las baldosas que se han colocado,  llevan desde la arboleda hasta  la carretera, para facilitar el acceso a los devotos, así, también una rampa de baldosas también se ha colocado, que conduce a la gruta.
Anteriormente, en una función de otra auspicioso celebración en la mañana, la puerta de entrada Gopuram tiene una mejora cuando una estatua de Ganesha se instaló esta mañana, para la bienvenida de los devotos a Prashanti Nilayam. 
Los rituales empezaron a las 19:00 hrs. ayer por la tarde, el 28 de junio de 2012. Después de la Stapana kalasa, una variedad de Homams incluyendo la Homam Sthala Shudhi, Navagraha Homam, Ganapathi Homam etc, se llevaron a cabo. 
El ídolo y la kalasa que adornan la parte superior de la capilla se sumergieron en el agua sagrada antes de ser instalados en sus posiciones santificados. A las  05:30 horas, con los sonidos de las invocaciones y panchavadyam védica,  el velo fue retirado y los a devotos reunidos, se les aconsejó tener el Darshan del Señor, a través de un espejo colocado delante de la capilla, antes de ver al ídolo directamente.

El Poornahuti, de los homams realizado el día anterior, se llevó a cabo a continuación, con todo lo auspicioso. El evento se detuvo entonces cuando el nagarasankirtan santificaba la atmósfera con energías muy poderosas, del sonido del Nombre Divino.

Los ritwiks continuación, consagrando el Kalasam con el culto y las abluciones antes de cambiar su atención hacia el Maestro de la Mente que se sienta encima de los sentidos inquietos, cuyo efecto ha reducido al tamaño de un ratón. El elefante se enfrenta a uno, el Jinete de la Mushikaratón, el removedor de obstáculos, el Auspicioso que siempre se adora en primer lugar, Ganesha fue entonces amorosamente bañado en una variedad de elementos tradicionales como la leche, miel, frutas, coco tierno y así sucesivamente antes de ser adornado con guirnaldas de flores, sandalias y bermellón. Como parte del ritual, una Puja Go se llevó a cabo a un par de vaca y el becerro traído del Sri Sathya Sai Gokulam.

El Mangala Arati se ofreció entonces a la forma más bella. Uno no podía dejar de recordar los diversos festivales, funciones, eventos e interacciones amorosas, incluso sencillas, de la que esta forma particular ha sido testigo, cuando estaba colocada en el Salón Sai Kulwant, para adornar el telón de fondo de la Plaza de la Dividad!
Prasadam incluyendo Sweet Pongal y Modak se ofreció a todos los reunidos para la ocasión.
Más tarde, en la mañana en torno a 08:15 hrs., una nueva puerta de salida junto a la puerta de Ganesh existente, frente a la calle Chitravati Road, fue inaugurado para la comodidad de los devotos que salen del Ashram a pie. La breve ceremonia estuvo marcada con el encendido de la lámpara y la ruptura de los cocos.

Por la tarde, se hizo el anuncio del programa Ashadi Ekadasi, previsto para mañana por la mañana. La procesión Dindi marcharán hasta el Salón Sai Kulwant a las 8:20 am, que será seguida por una ofrenda de danza, que representa Ganapathi, por el Nasik grupo de devotos. 
Un drama de danza titulado "Dominar la mente, sea un genio" seguirá, organizado por la Juventud de Mumbai. Por la noche, Sri Geet Sagar  se ofrece a los pies de loto de Bhagaván.

The Lord Who wrote a Divine Treatise on Meditation, titled Dhyana Vahini, with His Divine Fore vision had planted a small sapling on the idyllic hillock at the eastern side of Prasanthi Mandir five decades ago, precisely on the 29th June 1959. Bhagawan then declared that Yogis who have reached a certain stage of spiritual progress will automatically come to know of this tree and the mystic plate of inscription, materialized by Him on the Chitravati banks, and they will be drawn by the mysterious force of these toward the meditation grove which will then fully justify its name! This epochal Meditation Tree turned 53 today.

Commemorating the occasion, a function was held atop the Hill, in the Meditation Grove this morning, attended by Senior Trust Members, officials, students and devotees.
With the special ritualistic offering commenced and continued close to 0930 hrs. in the morning, a steady stream of devotees arrived post Bhajans and Mangala Arathi in the Mandir, comfortably occupying slots at various vantage points upon the hill behind the grove, and the area around, watching the proceedings.

After the special ‘Vruksha Puja’ even as Veda chanting by the officiating priest continued, students chanted Sai Ashtotharam that was followed by Arathi to the Tree. Three Bhajans followed, that began specially invoking Bhagawan with the particular Ashtothara Namavali referring Him to ‘Vatavriksha Pratishtapaka’, One Who planted the Meditation Tree. The programme culminated with Mangala Arathi at 10:30 hrs. Prasadam was distributed to the entire assembly.
As part of the developmental plan, the first phase of facelift of this grove has been completed. Fenced around with lighting poles, the grove now has a tiled circular space around where devotees can sit and meditate, at ease. Tiled steps have been laid, leading to the grove from the road, and facilitating wheel-chaired as well aged devotees, a tiled ramp has also been provided leading to the grove.
Earlier, in an another auspicious function held in the morning, the Gopuram gate entrance got an enhancement par excellence when a statue of Lord Ganesha was installed this morningwelcoming the devotees to Prasanthi Nilayam. The rituals started at 1900 hrs. last evening, the 28th of June 2012. The Poornahuti of the homams performed the previous day was then conducted with all auspiciousness. The event was then paused as the the nagarasankirtan passed by sanctifying the atmosphere with the most powerful energy, the sound of the Divine Name.

The ritwiks then consecrated the Kalasam with worship and ablutions before shifting their attentions to the Master of the Mind Who sits atop the restless senses whose effect He has reduced to the size of a mouse. The Elephant Faced One, the Rider of the mouse Mushika, the Remover of Obstacles, the Auspicious One who is always worshipped first, Lord Ganesha was then lovingly bathed in a variety of traditional items including milk, honey, fruits, tender coconut and so on before being adorned with floral garlands, sandal and vermilion. As part of the ritual, Go Puja was done to a pair of cow and calf brought from Sri Sathya Sai Gokulam.

Mangala Arati was then offered to the most beautiful form. One could not but recollect the various festivals, functions, events and even simple loving interactions that this particular form has witnessed when placed in the Sai Kulwant Hall, adorning the backdrop of the Seat Of The Divine!
Prasadam including Sweet Pongal and modak were offered to all assembled on the occasion.
Later, in the morning at around 0815 hrs., a new exit gate next to the existing Ganesh gate, opposite Chitravati Road, was inaugurated for the convenience of devotees who exit Ashram by foot. The short ceremony was marked with lighting the lamp and breaking of coconuts.

In the evening, announcement was made on the Ashadi Ekadashi programme, scheduled for tomorrow morning. The Dindi procession will march into the Sai Kulwant Hall at 8:20 am that will be followed by a Dance offering, depicting Ganapathi by the Nasik group of devotees. A dance drama entitled “Master The Mind, Be A Mastermind” will follow next, staged by the Youth of Mumbai. In the evening Sri Geet Sagar & Team will offering at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet.
