En un satsang que tuvo lugar en la presencia divina en California, EE.UU., el 19 de junio de 2016, un devoto preguntó por qué la espiritualidad no es una sola unidad, en lugar de ser fragmentada en varios dioses.
Y esto es lo que dijo Swami:
Pregunta: Swami, cuando vino como el Señor Krishna, dijo en el Bhagavad Gita, "Deben honrarme solamente a Mi. No adoren a otros dioses o semidioses, porque en última instancia, tenemos que ir al Señor Krishna". Esa pregunta siempre me persigue, porque me pregunto por qué la espiritualidad no es una sola deidad, en lugar de ser fragmentada en varios dioses. Podría por favor iluminarme? Perdóname por hacer una pregunta como esta.
Swami: En primer lugar, no debería pedir disculpas por hacer una pregunta; es por eso que estoy aquí! Cuando los estudiantes dejan de hacer preguntas, ¿cómo el maestro va saber lo que necesitan saber? Sólo los malos profesores se enojan cuando los estudiantes hacen preguntas. Un buen maestro está siempre dispuesto a responder a cualquier pregunta.
Usted tiene que entender el significado interno de lo que Krishna está diciendo. Cuando dice, “Bhajasva Maam,” - 'Piensa en Mí' o 'rezarme a Mí', Él no se considera a sí mismo como sólo el cuerpo. Siempre se refiere a sí mismo como el Parabrahman puro original, o la esencia espiritual. También dijo: “Sólo aquel que adora la esencia espiritual será redimido.”

Alguien está a cargo del agua; otra persona a cargo del fuego, aire, tierra, salud, educación y así sucesivamente. Por lo tanto, muchos dioses y semidioses ejecutan el programa.
Si oras por la riqueza, oras a un determinado dios, si rezas por la salud, hay que orar a otro dios. Cada 'departamento' tiene su deidad que lo preside. Todos estos departamentos se refieren a los asuntos mundanos.
Cuando piensas que eres el cuerpo y la mente, necesitas sobrevivir en este mundo, y necesitas la ayuda de todos estos departamentos. Es sólo a través de ellos que usted puede obtener su "petición". Si desea que el agua sea suministrada a su casa, no puede ir y presentar una solicitud en el departamento de electricidad; Tiene que ir al departamento de aguas. Sólo ellos pueden resolver su problema. Es justo que recen a los semidioses, porque debes respetar la posición que se les ha otorgado en el cosmos, para guiar y ayudar a la gente.
Sin embargo, Krishna se refiere a sí mismo como el Ser Espiritual, y dice que si adoras al Ser Espiritual en si mismo, estarás libres de todos los otros problemas. Una vez que se dan cuenta de que son el Ser Atmico, todos los problemas menores dejarán de preocuparles. Por eso Krishna dice, “Sólo si me adoras como el Ser real, puedes estar libre de todos estos problemas que pertenecen al mundo.”
Mientras ustedes piensen que son el cuerpo y la mente, necesitan todas estas cosas para ayudarles a vivir en el mundo. Por lo tanto, deben rezar a las distintas deidades y ellas podrán ayudarles. Si ustedes piensan que son el Atma y que lo que necesitan saber es la verdad última y nada menos, entonces ustedes tiene que adorar al Señor como el Morador Interno, el Supremo Principio Divino. A eso es lo que se refiere Krishna en sus enseñanzas.

In a satsang held in the divine presence at California, USA, on 19 June, 2016, a devotee asked why spirituality is not a single unit, rather than being fragmented into various gods.
And here is what Swami said:
Question: Swami, when You came as Lord Krishna, You said in the Bhagawad Gita, “Worship Me only. Do not worship demigods or other gods,” because ultimately, we have to go to Lord Krishna. That question always haunts me because I wonder why spirituality is not a single unit, rather than being fragmented into various gods. Could You please enlighten me? Forgive me for asking a question like this.
Swami: First of all, you should not be sorry about asking any question; that is why I am here! When the students stop asking questions, how will the teacher know what they need to know? Only bad teachers get angry when students ask questions. A good teacher is always happy to answer any question.
You have to understand the inner meaning of what Krishna is saying. When He says, “Bhajasva Maam,” – ‘think of Me’ or ‘pray to Me’, He doesn’t consider Himself as just the body. He always refers to Himself as the original pure Parabrahman, or the spiritual essence. He also said, “Only one who worships the spiritual essence will be redeemed.”
Demigods have an important role to play in the administration of the cosmos. There is a president as well as ministers and various officers under them. Someone is in charge of water; someone else in charge of fire, air, land, health, education and so on. Thus, many gods and demigods run the show.
If you pray for wealth, you pray to a certain god, if you pray for health, you have to pray to another god. Each ‘department’ has its presiding deity. All these departments relate to worldly affairs.
When you think you are the body and mind, you need to survive in this world, and you need the help of all these departments. It is only through them that you can get your ‘application cleared’. If you want water supplied to your house, you can’t go and present an application at the electricity department; you have to go to the water department. Only they can solve your problem. It is fair that you pray to them, for you must respect the position they have been granted in the cosmos to guide and help people.
However, Krishna refers to Himself as the Spiritual Self, and says that if you worship that Self alone, you will be free of all other problems. Once you realise that you are the Atmic Self, all the lower problems will stop worrying you. That is why Krishna says, “Only if you worship Me as the real Self, can you be free from all these problems that pertain to the world.”
As long as you think you are the body and mind, you need all these things to help you live in the world. Hence, you must pray to the various deities and they can help you. If you think you are the Atma and you need to know the ultimate truth and nothing less, then you have to worship the Lord as the Indweller, the Supreme Divine Principle. That is what Krishna refers to in His teachings.
