UN NUEVO CURRÍCULO QUE ENTRARÁ EN VIGOR EN TODO EL MUNDO...
Tuve una reunión con un gran grupo de nuestros diferentes jefes de nuestras instituciones sobre cómo podemos cambiar el sistema educativo actual de ser tan rígido y académicamente pesado, a un sistema que sea flexible, creativo y abierto y que brinde oportunidades a los estudiantes para desarrollarse en todas las formas posibles.
Tuvimos la visita del Director del Instituto Nacional de Educación Abierta (NIOS). Cuando compartí con él nuestra filosofía y le dije que quería cambiar pronto todo el sistema a un sistema Open Schooling (Escuela abierta) bajo la guía del NIOS que ayudará a los niños a aprender muchas cosas, el dijo: ' Tu diseña el programa de estudios y yo lo aprobaré !'
En mi plan de estudios, no solo tendremos matemáticas, física, química, biología, historia, filosofía y educación cívica. Junto con todo esto, tendremos Música, Bellas Artes, Cultura, Vedas, Yoga, Upanishads, jardinería, limpieza, cuidado de animales, medio ambiente, etc. Todo esto será parte de la educación.
Y cuando egresen, estén donde estén, podrán encargarse de todo.
Una persona puede ser un gran ingeniero, pero si no sabe prepararse una taza de té, ¿de qué sirve esa educación?
Se requiere educación práctica junto con la teórica. Hemos constituido un comité para ver cómo podemos diseñar el programa de estudios de tal manera que sea equilibrado. Tanto el conocimiento espiritual como el mundano deben ir de la mano. Uno sin el otro no sirve de nada.
En nuestra cultura, hay una metodología en educación. El primero es Sastra Praman (la evidencia bíblica). El conocimiento teórico que ya está en su lugar. Luego viene Tarka Sastra. Debes argumentarlo lógicamente. Debes averiguar experimentalmente si es solo un conocimiento de libros o si realmente funciona. Y lo último es Svanubhava. Debes estar convencido solo después de experimentar ese conocimiento por ti mismo. Esta es la antigua metodología Gurukula.
Vamos a idear un sistema llamado Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulas. Estarán presentes en todo el mundo. No hay restricción de que tengas que ser un estudiante indio. Está abierto para todos los estudiantes de todo el mundo porque este Instituto nos permite esa flexibilidad. Diseñaremos el plan de estudios Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam para nuestras instituciones, lo que sucederá en breve, en uno o dos años.
Ahora cuando salen solo obtienen el certificado de las materias que han estudiado. Pero hay muchas otras cosas que sabe que no tiene reconocimiento ni mención en sus certificado. Pero nuestro certificado llevará todo. Si tocas un violín, un violonchelo o una trompeta o bailas o cantas, se mencionará en el certificado. Será parte de su educación general. Si puede cuidar las vacas, incluso eso estará en su certificado. Será un sistema de educación holístico y antiguo de gurukula. Los niños serán identificados temprano sobre su talento, gustos, disgustos e intereses. Serán guiados mucho antes a qué corrientes deben ingresar. Las especializaciones sucederán mucho antes de lo que sucede hoy. Las especializaciones se reducirán al nivel de escuela secundaria de lo que es ahora a nivel preuniversitario. Los certificados serán válidos en todo el mundo.
Usted tiene a su disposición una hermosa síntesis de educación espiritual (adhyathmikam) y mundana (laukikam).
Estoy haciendo esto porque quiero que Mis hijos sean felices y libres. La educación no debería ser una carga. Debería ser un disfrute. Todos los días, los niños deben despertarse y correr a la clase porque querrán seguir aprendiendo lo que habían comenzado el día anterior. ¡Ese entusiasmo, la curiosidad debe impulsar su educación y no las calificaciones !
Quiero eliminar todo los porcentajes, clasificando el aprendizaje. ¡O tienes el conocimiento o no tienes el conocimiento! O conoces un instrumento musical o no lo sabes. No puedes saberlo de alguna a medias. Arruinarás la música. ¡Será una cacofonía y no una sinfonía!
Nuestro sistema educativo tendrá solo dos grados. O conoces el tema o no lo sabes. Un cirujano no puede decir que casi sabe hacer una cirugía, ¡ se cortar pero no sé cocerlo! Eso no funciona en el mundo real.
En el mundo académico imaginario, el 80% del conocimiento funciona.
En Estados Unidos, los adolescentes son reclutados en grandes empresas de TI. Ni siquiera tienen un certificado escolar. Y ya ganan bien. Se basa en habilidades, economía basada en el conocimiento. ¡No es más economía basada en títulos! Están abandonando certificados de grado, cursos universitarios y están recogiendo conocimientos prácticos.
Si tienes verdadero afán de aprender el tema, serás un experto. Y solo así podrás contribuir al mundo del conocimiento. De lo contrario, simplemente repetirán lo que otros han dicho. ¿Cuál es tu contribución al mundo entonces? Esa idea de aprendizaje, Jignasa (curiosidad) debería impulsar la educación. Shraddha (interés) debería conducir la educación. Prayathna (trabajo duro) debe impulsar la educación. Esta filosofía es lo que estamos trayendo. No está lejos. Este año, probablemente diseñaremos el programa de estudios y obtendremos todas las aprobaciones. Y un año académico más adelante, también se implementará en la mayoría de nuestras escuelas. Si estás demasiado apegado a tus títulos y calificaciones, ¡este lugar no es para ti! Este lugar será para los verdaderos buscadores de conocimiento que desean que su conocimiento se convierta en habilidad y la habilidad debe traer equilibrio en sus vidas. Y ese equilibrio traerá ideas para desarrollar más conocimiento. Esa es la secuencia de la educación. El conocimiento debe ser habilidoso, lo que conduce al equilibrio y eso conduce a ideas sobre el conocimiento adicional. Ese debería ser nuestro patrón. En los próximos tiempos, verán estos cambios muy importantes que suceden en nuestro sistema educativo.
Muchos lo han intentado en el pasado. Mahatma Gandhi, Vinobha Bhave, Aurobindo, Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore lo han pensado, pero ninguno de ellos pudo implementarlo por completo. ¿Sabes por qué? Porque no eran libres. La nuestra es una educación completamente gratuita y eso me da la libertad y el poder de hacer lo correcto. Como es gratis, no tengo que estirar la mano delante de nadie. Podemos hacer lo correcto y haremos lo correcto siempre en nuestras instituciones.

SRI SATHYA SAI LOKA SEVA GURUKULAM - A NEW CURRICULUM TO COME INTO EFFECT SHORTLY AROUND THE WORLD
I had a meeting with a large group of our different heads of our institutions about how we can change the present system of education from being so rigid and academically heavy to a system which is flexible, creative and open and gives opportunities to students to develop in all possible ways. We had the Director of The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) come here. When I shared with him our philosophy and told him that I wanted to soon change over the entire system to a Open Schooling system under NIOS board which will help the children to learn many things, he said, 'You design the syllabus and I will approve it!'
In My syllabus, we will not just have Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Philosophy and Civics. Along with all this, we will have Music, Fine Arts, Culture, Vedas, Yoga, Upanishads, gardening, cleaning, looking after animals, environment etc. All this will be part of the education. When they go out, wherever they are, they are able to take care of everything. A person may be a great engineer but if he does not know to make a cup of tea for himself, what use is such education? Practical education is required along with the theoretical. We have constituted a committee to see how we can design the syllabus in such a way that it is balanced. Both spiritual and worldly knowledge should go hand in hand. One without the other is of no use.
In our culture, there is a methodology in education. The first is Sastra Praman (the scriptural evidence). The theoretical knowledge which is already in place. Then comes Tarka Sastra. You must logically argue it out. You should experimentally find out if its just a bookish knowledge or if it really works. And the ultimate is Svanubhava. You should be convinced only after experiencing that knowledge for yourself. This is the ancient Gurukula methodology.
We are going to come up with a system called Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulas. They will be present all over the world. There is no restriction that you have to be an Indian student. It is open for all the students around the world because this Board allows us that flexibility. We will design Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam curriculum for our institutions which will happen very shortly, in a year or two. Now when you go out you only get the certificate for the subjects you have studied. But so many other things that you know has no acknowledgement or mention of that in your certificate. But our certificate will carry everything. If you play a violin, cello or a trumpet or you dance or sing, it will be mentioned in the certificate. It will be part of your overall education. If you can look after cows, even that will be in your certificate. It will be a holistic, ancient gurukula system of education. The children will be identified early about their talent, likes, dislikes, interests. They will be guided much early into what streams they should get into. The specializations will happen much earlier than what it happens today. The specializations will come down to High School level from what it is now at Pre University level. The certificates will be valid across the world.
A beautiful synthesis of both spiritual (adhyathmikam) and worldly (laukikam) education is available to you. I am doing this because I want My children to be happy and free. Education should not be a burden. It should be an enjoyment. Everyday, children should wake up and run to the class because they want to continue learning what they had started the previous day. That eagerness, the curiosity should drive their education and not marks! I want to remove all the percentage, grading business. Either you have the knowledge or you don't have the knowledge! Either you know a Musical instrument or you don't know it. You cannot somewhat know it. You will ruin the music. It will be a cacophony and not symphony! Our education system will have only two grades. Either you know the subject or you don't know the subject. A surgeon cannot say I almost know to cut open the body, but I don't know to stitch it back! That does not work in the real world. In the imaginary academic world, 80% knowledge works.
In America, teenagers are recruited into large IT companies. They don't even have a school certificate. They already earn well. It is skill based, knowledge based economy. It is no more degree based economy! They are ditching degree certificates, university courses and are picking practical knowledge.
If you have true eagerness to learn the subject, then you will be an expert. And only then you will be able to contribute to the world of knowledge. Otherwise, you will be simply repeating what others have said. What is your contribution to the world then? That idea of learning, Jignasa (curiousity) should drive the education. Shraddha (interest) should drive the education. Prayathna (hardwork) should drive the education. This philosophy is what we are bringing. It is not far. This year, we will probably design the syllabus and get all the approvals done. And one academic year down the line, it will be implemented in most of our schools too. If you are too attached to your degrees and marks, this place is not for you! This place will be for the true seekers of knowledge who want their knowledge to be converted to skill and the skill should bring balance in their lives. And that balance will bring insights to develop more knowledge. That is the sequence of education. Knowledge should be skilled which leads to balance and that leads to insights about further knowledge. That should be our pattern. In times to come, you will see these very important changes happening in our education system.
Many have tried this in the past. Mahatma Gandhi, Vinobha Bhave, Aurobindo, Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore have thought about it but none of them could fully implement this. You know why? Because they were not free. Ours is completely free education and that gives me the freedom and power to do what is right. Because it is free, I don't have to stretch My hand in front of anyone. We can do the right and we will do the right always in our institutions.
