20 de octubre 1940. Fue un día como hoy, hace setenta años, que Bhagavan Baba dio a conocer el
misterio que rodeaba su nacimiento, vida y misión. Declaró a la gente cercana, y ha través de ellos a toda
la humanidad, que de hecho es la Conciencia Suprema encarnada en una forma diminuta y encantadora.
"Ya no soy tu Sathya, soy Sai ... yo tengo mi trabajo, mis devotos me están llamando ...",.... anunció
abiertamente ese día.
Desde entonces, este depósito eterno de la energía y empatía, esperanza y felicidad, consuelo y socorro,
de luz y amor, nos ha alimentado y nutrido, y aseguró que la pequeña semilla de bondad latente dentro de
cada individuo, se convierta en un gigantesco árbol de amor y serenidad.
Y al igual que un maestro perfecto, Él lo ha demostrado, por vivir ese principio, en todos los
momentos de su propia vida. El resultado es un legado que continuará luminiscente, para iluminar los
oscuros callejones de la conciencia colectiva de la humanidad, elevándola a un estado de sublimidad
absoluta para las generaciones venideras.
"Leyenda de amor - Legados de vida" busca captar algunos aspectos destacados más importantes de esta
saga gloriosa de amor puro. Este documental de Radio Sai de 30 episodios, se inició el 20 de octubre de
2010 en Radio Sai, para continuar diariamente hasta 19 de noviembre, de 2010.

Episodio 7: La Carta al Hermano.

Durante la década de 1940, los devotos de Baba continuaron llegando - jóvenes y viejos, ricos y pobres. Incluso los maharajás y los propietarios ricos vinieron para tener una idea de Él. La prensa había empezado a tomar nota.
El hermano mayor Seshama Raju, aún no plenamente consciente de la Divinidad de Baba, comenzó a preocuparse por el impacto que la atención a su hermano más joven recibía. ¿Se subiria esta adoración a la cabeza del joven Sathya? Iba a caer víctima de diversas tentaciones?

Seshama Raju también fue perturbado por las burlas de los cínicos y los escépticos a las reivindicaciones de la divinidad de Baba. Como hermano mayor transmitió su ansiedad a Sathya de 20 años de edad. A propósito el Avatar Sai Baba envió su respuesta en una carta de fecha 25 de mayo de 1947. A pesar de que la carta fue hecha para Seshama Raju, de hecho fue dirigida a - como dice Baba -. "todos los que se dedican a mí" .
Tenemos la suerte de tener el contenido de esta carta. Es una poderosa declaración de la finalidad del Sai Avatar. Aún más notable es la ecuanimidad y la madurez con la que el jóven Baba se dirigió a la preocupación de su hermano mayor, acerca de los críticos. Si la verdad está determinada por su capacidad para resistir el paso del tiempo, entonces las palabras a los 20 años de edad de Baba expresados en esta carta son tan válidas hoy, como lo fueron hace varias décadas reflejando su determinación inquebrantable para cumplir su misión. Y hasta la fecha, Baba sigue derramando nada más que amor puro, incluso sobre aquellos que lo juzgan con dureza. ..."Baba tenía en ese entonces 20 años de edad. Su hermano mayor, Seshama Raju, profesor de telugu, no podía comprender bien el misterio de ese fenómeno, y veía con creciente consternación y genuino amor fraternal la procesión de automóviles que llegaba a la orilla derecha del río para llevarse a su "sencillo y provinciano hermano" a las ciudades que brillaban más allá del horizonte, llenas de peligros y tentaciones.
Unos cuantos comentarios en los periódicos, originados por la ignorancia, lastimaron al hermano de Sathyanarayana, por lo cual le envió una carta, advirtiéndole y transmitiéndole la lección que él había aprendido en la vida acerca de la sociedad y las debilidades humanas, así como de la fama y las cosas que con ella venían.
La respuesta que Baba le escribió a su hermano el 25 de Mayo de 1947 está en mi poder. Es un documento que revela a Baba en términos inconfundibles, así que tengo que compartirlo con ustedes:
"A todos los que son Mis devotos"
(Aunque la carta fue escrita para su hermano, la respuesta iba dirigida a todos, incluyéndonos a tí y a mí, pues es esencial que tanto tú como yo conozcamos la verdadera naturaleza del portento que ha aparecido para nuestro bien.)
"Querido Mío!, recibí la carta que Me escribiste. Siento en ella brotar el manantial de tu devoción y afecto, con las corrientes ocultas de la duda y la ansiedad. Permíteme decirte que es imposible sondear los corazones y descubrir la naturaleza de los jñanis, yoguis, ascetas y santos.
"La gente posee gran diversidad de rasgos mentales y actitudes, por lo cual cada uno juzga desde su propio ángulo y argumenta a la luz de su propia naturaleza. Sin embargo, nosotros tenemos que apegarnos a nuestro propio camino recto, a nuestra sabiduría y a nuestras decisiones, sin que nos afecte la opinión de los demás. Como dice el proverbio: "Solamente el árbol pletórico de fruta recibe las pedradas de los transeúntes". Los malos siempre hacen escarnio de los buenos. Esta es la naturaleza del mundo; uno debe sorprenderse si no sucede así.
"Debemos compadecer a esta gente en vez de condenarla; son inconscientes y juzgan de forma incorrecta a los demás. Están demasiado llenos de lujuria, ira y orgullo como para ver con claridad y saber con profundidad; por eso escriben toda esa clase de cosas. Si supieran, no escribirían esas falsedades. Nosotros tampoco debemos darles ningún valor a todos esos comentarios ni concederles importancia, como parece que tú lo haces. La Verdad triunfará algún día, la falsedad nunca podrá vencer; la mentira parece imponerse a la Verdad, pero sus victorias se desvanecerán y la Verdad se establecerá por Sí Misma.
"No es característica de los grandes hombres ufanarse cuando la gente los alaba, o desplomarse cuando la gente se burla de ellos. De hecho, ningún Texto Sagrado establece normas que regulen las vidas de los Grandes Hombres, reescribiendo los hábitos y actitudes que deben adoptar. Ellos conocen por sí mismos el camino a seguir; su Sabiduría norma sus actos y los hace Sagrados. Sus características propias son la confianza en sí mismos y sus actividades benéficas. También podrían dedicarse a promover el bienestar de sus devotos y otorgarles los frutos de sus acciones. ¿Por qué, entonces, te sientes afectado por las confusiones y preocupaciones, si Yo estoy realizando esas dos tareas?. Después de todo, las alabanzas y las críticas no pueden alcanzar al Alma, la Realidad; ellas sólo pueden tocar el marco físico.
"Tengo una 'Tarea': Elevar a toda la Humanidad y asegurarles a todos una vida llena de Bienaventuranza; tengo un 'Voto': Conducir de nuevo hacia el bien a todos los que se han desviado del camino recto y salvarlos. Estoy apegado a un 'Trabajo' que amo: Eliminar el sufrimiento de los pobres y proveerlos de lo que carecen. Tengo un 'Motivo de Orgullo': Rescatar a todos los que Me adoran y Me veneran. Tengo Mi propia definición de la 'Devoción' que espero: Aquéllos que sean Mis devotos deben tratar a la alegría y el sufrimiento, a las ganancias y las pérdidas, con igual fortaleza. Esto quiere decir que nunca abandonaré a quienes se apeguen a Mí.
"¿De qué manera pueden manchar Mi Nombre, como tú temes, si estoy dedicado a Mi Benéfica Tarea?. Te aconsejo que ignores esos absurdos comentarios. Los Mahatmas (Grandes Almas), no adquieren grandeza porque alguien los llame así, ni dejan de tenerla cuando los llaman pequeños. Sólo aquellos que se regodean en el opio y la marihuana y a la vez claman ser yoguis insuperables, sólo quienes citan textos espirituales para justificar su guía y su orgullo; aquéllos que son eruditos tan estériles como el polvo y se vanaglorian de su habilidad verbal y dialéctica, son afectados por la alabanza o la crítica.
"Seguramente habrás leído historias de las vidas de Santos y personajes Divinos; sabrás que se lanzaron contra ellos falsedades aún más terribles e imputaciones más ruines. Tal es la suerte de los grandes, en todo lugar y en todos los tiempos. ¿Por qué entonces, concedes importancia a esas injurias? ¿No has oído de los perros que le aúllan a la Luna? ¿Cuánto tiempo más pueden hacerlo?. La Verdad pronto vencerá.
"No abandonaré Mi Misión ni Mi Determinación. Sé que puedo realizarla, pues trato al honor y a la deshonra, a la fama y a la calumnia con la misma ecuanimidad. En Mi Interior no Me afectan; actúo sólo en el mundo externo; hablo y camino sólo por el bien del mundo externo y para anunciarle Mi llegada a la Humanidad. De otro modo, ni aun eso Me preocupa.
"No pertenezco a lugar alguno y no estoy apegado a ningún nombre. No tengo 'mío' o 'tuyo' y respondo a cualquier nombre con que Me llamen. Voy a cualquier lugar que Me lleven. Ese es Mi primer voto: nunca se lo he revelado a alguien más. Para Mí el mundo es algo ajeno, distante; actúo y Me muevo sólo por el bien de la Humanidad. Nadie puede comprender Mi Gloria, sin importar quién sea o qué método de indagación use o qué tan prolongado sea su intento.
"Tú mismo podrás ver la plena Gloria en los años venideros. Los devotos deben ser pacientes y tolerantes.
"No estoy preocupado ni ansioso porque estos hechos sean conocidos. No tengo necesidad de escribir estas líneas, lo hago sólo porque sé que te sentirías herido si no te respondiera. Tu Baba"
... ¿Qué carta es ésta?. ¡Es una epístola épica, un descorrer de la cortina, que nos da un atisbo de Dios en cuerpo humano!
No es extraño, entonces, que miles de personas atestaran el pueblo de Puttaparti para poder obtener el Darshan de Sai Baba y los beneficios que la Gracia de Dios puede otorgar a los débiles, los humildes y los afligidos. (1)

Como se mencionó anteriormente, Baba escribió esta carta a su hermano mayor en la década de 1940, en respuesta a sus preocupaciones. "Voy a dar Ananda a toda la humanidad y guardarlos a través de ese Ananda "- Baba en una de sus conferencias, el biógrafo de Baba, fallecido Prof. N. Kasturi, dijo:" en el museo espiritual que tienen en la universidad, hay una carta - una copia fotostática de una carta - que Baba escribió a su hermano mayor cuando tenía 21 años de edad.
La fecha mencionada es de 1947, cuando no había oficina de correos en Puttaparthi. La oficina de correos más cercana estaba a cinco millas de distancia. Como se puede ver en el papel de nota, se habla de la oficina de correos Bukkapatanam y no el uno en Puttaparthi o Prashanti Nilayam. También tiene una imagen de Baba como Él a esa fecha.

Él pensó que había desviado de la ruta habitual de las personas educadas en nuestro país.
"Así que le escribió una carta de protesta en contra de su comportamiento. Y esta carta fue en respuesta a eso. En ese mensaje, porque Su hermano mayor era un experto telugu, Baba quería ir un paso más allá que su hermano mayor y respondió en poesía - Su hermano mayor también se deleitó con la poesía. Y Baba indica el objeto de su venida.
"Él le dice:" Tu no me entiendes. No puedes entenderme.' Y continúa: "No sólo tu, sino todo el mundo, sin embargo pueden tratar, de cualquier manera, hoy, o en cualquier momento, pero no podrán entenderme.
" No tengo nombre y no tengo lugar que reclamar como propio. No pertenezco a Puttaparthi, no pertenezco a este lugar. . Yo no soy un nativo de este lugar "
" También dice: Vosotros Perutho Pilachenanu Palakutunu (Telugu) - "No tengo ningún nombre especial; me llaman con cualquier nombre, y voy a responder. " Ye Uru Teskonipoinanu Podhumu - 'Sea cual sea el lugar a donde sea llevado, es mi lugar. ""
Prof. N. Kasturi pasa a decir: "Imagine un joven de 20 años diciendo que no tiene nombre! Que Él responderá en todas partes. Y que cualquiera que sea el lugar que este, es su lugar. Si vemos el presente y lo que se está haciendo - todo el mundo es su escenario " Yo no soy su Sathya Narayana Raju " - Baba "Hay un poema en la carta que había escrito en telugu donde dice: Tengo un propósito para el cual he venido; He venido para llevar a cabo una gran misión. He resuelto llevarlo a cabo. Y daré Ananda a toda la humanidad y guardarlos a través de ese Ananda.

"Ahora imagina esto para un niño que ha vivido en Puttaparthi - alguien lo ha descrito como un pueblo que está a cinco minutos de la Edad de Piedra - nacido en esa localidad rural, y en una familia muy pobre. Baba no tiene dinero para comprar siquiera los botones de sus camisas. Utiliza espinas de plantas para sortenerlas, y para mantener su camisa juntas, en lugar de botones.
"Piense en un niño nacido en tales circunstancias, con estudios hasta cuarto grado y dejando estas clases después de dos meses, durante su quinta grado. Fui a la escuela e inspeccione la admisión de registro y los muebles. y me sente en el mismo banco en el que Él se sentó como un estudiante. Piense en un chico así, en la cuarto grado, dos meses en quinta grado, y hablando de la humanidad el dijo: "yo he venido en una misión para dar Ananda a toda la humanidad"??
"la siguiente línea en el poema dice así: los que se apartan del camino recto, desde el camino del dharma, las llevare de la mano y los liberare; esto es mi voto he venido en una misión que no se puede entender, no soy tu hermano;.. no soy tu Sathya Narayana Raju : "¿por qué estoy desperdiciando examen de licenciatura y convertirme en un oficial de gobierno?". ! No tengo ningún nombre, no tengo lugar nativo;.. He venido a dar Ananda (bienaventuranza) a toda la humanidad . He venido a corregir a la gente de apartarse del camino recto - dondequiera que se encuentren, sea quien sea.
"y en la tercera línea, dice:.. he llegado a extender Amor, Prema, quitando el gran dolor de las personas que son pobres, afligidos y oprimidos, voy a quitar su dolor y darles lo que carecen, puede ser material o fuerza espiritual;. lo que les falta, voy a darles
"se puede decir que Sai Baba es famoso por tal o cual cosa, Él hará esto o de su grandeza o está presente pero ¿cuál es su grandeza ¿Qué es lo que Él dice, que 'puedo decir que estoy aún orgullosos?
"La respuesta está en sus palabras que:
El que me adora con niyama y nishta (disciplina y sinceridad) - en condiciones adecuadas, los salvaré, no renunciare a ellos. ' "

Episode 7: The Letter to the Brother.

During the 1940s, Baba’s devotees continued arriving - young and old, rich and poor. Even maharajahs and rich landlords came for a glimpse of Him. The press had begun to take notice.
Elder brother Seshama Raju, not yet fully aware of Baba’s Divinity, began to worry about the impact of the attention his younger brother was receiving. Would this adoration go to the head of young Sathya? Would he fall a victim to various temptations?

Seshama Raju was also disturbed by the ridicule of the cynics and the skeptics to Baba’s claims of divinity. As a concerned older brother, he conveyed his anxiety to the 20-year old Sathya.
The Purpose of Sai Avatar
Baba sent His reply in a letter dated May 25, 1947. Although the letter was intended for Seshama Raju, it was in fact addressed to - as Baba says - “all who are devoted to Me”.
We are fortunate to have the contents of this epistle. It is a powerful declaration of the purpose of the Sai Avatar. Even more noteworthy is the equanimity and the maturity with which the young Baba addressed His older sibling’s concern about the critics. If the truth is determined by its ability to stand the test of time, then the words of the 20-year old Baba expressed in this letter are as valid today as they were several decades ago reflecting His unshakeable resolve to fulfill His mission. And to date, Baba continues to pour nothing but pure love even upon those who judge Him harshly.
A Landmark Letter to Entire Mankind
Following is a reproduction of the contents of that historic letter:

“I will never give up those who attach themselves to Me” – Baba
I have a Task: To foster all mankind, and fill peoples lives with Ananda (bliss).
I have a Vow: To lead all who stray away from the straight path into goodness again and save them.
I am attached to a 'Work' that I love: To remove the suffering of the poor and grant them what they lack.
I have a 'reason to be proud': for, I rescue all who worship and adore Me.
I have a definition of 'devotion': I expect that those devoted to Me treat joy and grief, gain and loss, with equal fortitude.
I will never give up those who attach themselves to Me. When I am thus engaged in My beneficial task, how can My Name be ever tarnished, as you apprehend? I would advise you not to heed to such absurd talk. Mahatmas do not acquire greatness through someone calling them so; they do not become small just because some call them small.

Only those low ones who revel in opium but claim to be unexcelled yogis, only those who quote scriptural texts to justify their gourmandry and pride, only those who are dry-as-dust scholars exulting in their argumentative skill, are moved by praise and blame.
You must have read the life-stories of saints and divine personages. In those books, you should have also read of horrible falsehood and heinous imputations cast against them.This is the lot of Mahatmas, everywhere, and at all times. Why then do you take these things so much to heart? Have you not heard of dogs that howl at the stars? How long can they go on? Authenticity will soon win.
I will not give up My Mission nor My determination. I SHALL carry them out. I treat with equanimity the honour or dishonour that may result. Internally, I am totally unconcerned. I act, but solely in the outer world. If I talk and move about, it is entirely for the sake of the external world and for making people realise the advent of Divinity. Other than this, I have no concern with anything.
I do not belong to any place. I am not attached to any name. I have no 'Mine' or 'Thine'. I respond to whatever name you might use. I go wherever I am needed or called.
For Me, the world is something afar and apart. I act and move only for the sake of Mankind.
No one can comprehend My Glory, whosoever it may be, whatever be the method of enquiry, and no matter how long the attempt.
You will yourself see the full Glory unfolding in the coming years. Devotees must have patience and forbearance.
I am not concerned, nor am I anxious that these facts should be made known. I have no need to write these words. I wrote them because I felt that you will be pained if I do not reply.
Thus, yours, Baba.
As mentioned earlier, Baba wrote this letter to his older brother in the 1940s, in response to his concerns.
“I will give Ananda to the entire mankind and save them through that Ananda” - Baba
In one his lectures, Baba’s biographer, late Prof. N. Kasturi, said: “In the spiritual museum that they have in the college, there is a letter - a photostat of a letter - that Baba wrote to His elder brother when He was 21 years old. The date mentioned is 1947, when there was no post office in Puttaparthi. The nearest post office was five miles away. As you can see from the note paper, it talks of the Bukkapatanam post office and not the one at Puttaparthi or Prashanti Nilayam. It also has a picture of Baba as He appeared at that time.

“His elder brother was rather disappointed with Him because he had great hopes that he would pass His university examinations and get into some cushy job whereas He had given up His studies and was collecting people around Him, and was being lionized by all sorts of people. He thought that He had strayed away from the usual path of educated people in our country.
“So he wrote to Him a letter protesting against His behaviour. And this letter was in reply to that. In that message, because His elder brother was a Telegu pundit, Baba wanted to go one step over His elder brother and replied in poetry - His elder brother also reveled in poetry. And there you find Baba stating the purpose of His coming.
“He tells him, ‘You don’t understand Me. You cannot understand Me.’ And He continues, ‘Not only you, but the whole world, however they may try, whatever they may do, it’s not only today, for however long they may try, they cannot understand Me.
‘I have no name and I have no place which I must claim as My own. I don’t belong to Puttaparthi, I don’t belong to this place. I was not a native of this place or that.’
“He also says, Ye Perutho Pilachenanu Palakutunu (Telugu)- ‘I have no special name; call Me by any name, I will answer.’ Ye Uru Teskonipoinanu Podhumu - ‘Which ever place I am taken to, that is My place.’”
Prof. N. Kasturi goes on to say: “Imagine a young man of 20 saying He has no name! That He will answer to everywhere. And that whichever place you belong to now, that is His place, that every place is His. If we see the present and what it is becoming - the whole world is His arena.
“I am not your Sathya Narayana Raju” - Baba
“There is a poem in the letter that He had written in Telugu where He says:
I have got a purpose for which I have come; I have undertaken a great mission. I have resolved upon one thing which I will carry out. And that is, I will give Ananda to the entire mankind and save them through that Ananda.

“Now imagine this for a boy who has lived in Puttaparthi – somebody has described it as a village which is five minutes from the Stone Age – born in that rural locale, and in a very poor family. Baba did not have money to even purchase buttons for His shirts. He used to collect thorns from thorny plants – long ones – and use them to hold his shirt together, in place of buttons.
"Think of a boy born in such circumstances; studying up to what we call the fourth form (grade) and leaving this classes after two months, during his fifth form. I went to that school and inspected the admissions register and the furniture. And sat on that same bench in which He sat as a student. Think of a boy like that, in fourth form, two months and into fifth form, talking of mankind? He said, “I have come on a mission to give Ananda to entire mankind?’
“The next line in that poem goes like this: Those who stray away from the righteous path, from the path of dharma, I will hold them by the hand and save them; that is My vow. I have come on a mission that you can’t understand. I am not your brother; I am not your Sathya Narayana Raju whom you can say: ‘Why are you throwing away your books? Pass your B.A. degree examination and become an officer in the government.’ No! I have no name. I have no native place; I have come to give Ananda (bliss) to entire mankind. I have come to correct people from straying away from the straight path - wherever they may be, whoever they may be.
“And in the third line, He says: I have come to spread Love, Prema,by removing the great grief of people who are poor, distressed and downtrodden. I will remove their sorrow and give them what they lack. It may be material means or spiritual strength; whatever they lack, I will give.
“You can say Sai Baba is famous for this. Or that He will do this Or His greatness is this. But what is His greatness? What is it for which He says, ‘I can say that I am even proud?’
“The answer lies in His words that:
Whoever worships Me with niyama and nishta (discipline and sincerity) – the proper conditions, I will save them, I won’t give them up.’”
