Song of Life
A new Medial Centre to provide free medical care in Fiji was to come up on the Mahasamadhi Day. The host and his team worked round the clock through the last six months ever since it was announced by Swami during His visit to Fiji, the previous September. Leading the effort was a young emerging Bollywood playback singer Sumeet Tappoo, well known in Sai circles for his devotional singing and dedicated leadership.
As his parents and wife came to serve dinner to Swami on the eve of the opening, Swami noticed that brother Sumeet was away at the Centre toiling to finish the final touches, for the next morning.
“Your mad son is working too hard at the Medical Centre”, remarked Swami.
“He is indeed working very hard for the last few months and falling sick off and on”, submitted Sumeet’s worried wife Dr Krupali, who herself had worked shoulder to shoulder with her husband to facilitate 27 free congenital heart surgeries for the children, from two months to 14 years of age till the previous day.
Swami smiled at her concern and said, “All this while your husband was sitting by the harmonium and singing songs, but truly Service is the song of life which he ought to sing.”
In a moment, Swami multiplied the meaning of the message infinitely as He sweetly suggested that Sumeet was to be the real singer through the song of service that is dear to Him. Yes, to Him, the giggles of the children who have been cured is the rhythm, the smiles of the mothers who have been relieved is the music, and serving all mankind selflessly is the song of life!
With everyone still fighting the jet lag, Swami advised a morning of rest for everyone. In the evening, Swami along with His entourage visited the residence of Sri Kamlesh Tappoo and his wife Smt Jyothi. An intimate gathering, Swami had also called the group of devotees who had come from New Zealand. Brother Sumeet sang very melodious Bhajans and songs. Swami said, “There is so much joy in singing God’s name, compared to a sweet. It is said ‘Come and taste the beauty of Rama’s name. Rama’s name is the sweetest.’ You cannot experience the sweetness of the name if you have fever of the world. Tansen was a singer in the court of Akbar, known for his singing. Akbar was very proud of his people, and always projected Tansen in good light. One day Akbar was going in the forest, heard a very melodious voice, and was drawn towards a hut where a sage was singing. Akbar asked him what was the secret of his sweet singing, sweeter than Tansen. The sage replied saying while singing Tansen looked at Akbar’s face, whereas when he sang, he looked at the face of God! Perfection comes only when we do things for God’s sake. Highest path of God realisation is Bhakti. You should have pure love for God like the Gopikas, who lived in the Krishna consciousness all the time. They only had love for God in their heart, and attained Krishna more than anyone else!” Swami advised all to have madness for God.
Devotees from New Zealand who had gathered, offered a few songs thereafter. Swami continued His casual conversation again, and said devotion to God is like anesthesia. “With love and faith in God, it allows you to go through the surgery. Difficulties, obstacles will be there, but love for God is the only way you....

DIVINE VISIT – FIJI APRIL 28 TO 30, 2018
While in Fiji, it is said sit back, relax and enjoy Fiji time. Time sometimes stands still in these beautiful and gorgeous islands. Simply staring at God’s creation just gives the added energy and impetus to do more in the coming days. And this is exactly what Swami wanted His entourage to do for two days! He wanted them along with the Fiji team to connect with nature and contemplate on all that He had said and continues to say, day in and day out! Though it was rather a easy morning on April 28, looking at all the wonderful news reports of the inauguration of the Medical Centre, everyone were renewed with more enthusiasm to immediately commence work on the Hospital, for Swami had given a deadline. Ashram and Hospital to be inaugurated on April 24, 2019! For breakfast, lunch and dinner, Swami doled out delicious doses of spiritual bliss. On one occasion when Brother Rimal Tappoo and family came to meet Swami, He remarked on how He saved the life of Rimal from cancer, just a few years ago. And today, Rimal is one of the main volunteers behind the Medical Centre with matchless dedication! When Brother Sumeet observed, “Swami, he survived because of You”, Swami was quick to reply, “He survived to serve. What’s the use of surviving without serving?!”
On the evening of April 29, before all the Fiji devotees departed, there was a small Satsang in Swami’s apartment at the hotel. Brother Sumeet’s melodious Krishna Bhajans and songs on Radha and Meera elevated everyone to a different plane. Swami then spoke about the devotion of Radha and Meera. He said, “Bhakti has two sides to it, one is love and the other is faith. Loving God and following Him to the ends of the earth with...
