Issue One Hundred and Sixty Eight - September 06, 2019
View this email in your browser
The one who sees oneness of God inside, outside, everywhere, and in everything, will never have a moment when he will be sad or sorrowful. So, what is the secret to be happy always? To realise God within. That is the only way to be happy permanently in this world from the date of your birth to the date of death, every single day, every hour, every moment. You can be happy if only you realise God inside.

Die a God
Speaking to a set of Western devotees during the interview, Swami mentioned, “The purpose of life is to realise God”.

We have heard that often and almost know it by heart. However, what Swami said next was very interesting.

“You are born a man, over which you don’t have much control, but you can always live your life in a way that you die a God!”

Born a man, die a God! That must be the vision statement of every life!
DIVINE VISIT - SINGAPORE
 AUGUST 24 AND 25, 2019
Come August, and it is that time of the year when a divine visit is planned to Singapore and Malaysia. And this time was even more unique as 40 students from the brass band of the Muddenahalli Campus were joining the trip to perform in both countries, as an expression of their gratitude to all elders who have been supporting their education, and more importantly, the brass band. The students departed a day earlier, and arrived in Singapore on August 23. It was very endearing to watch these children, as apart from a handful, rest of them were travelling outside the country for the very first time! Swami along with His entourage reached Singapore on the evening of August 24, and was welcomed with deep gratitude by Dr Ravi Pillay and the entire team, for He had chosen to bless them benevolently with yet another visit. Upon arrival at Sai Anandam Ashram, the ‘Singapore Gang’, as Swami fondly calls the core team of Singapore devotees, had gathered and Bhajans were in full swing. Not minding the travel or tiredness, Swami stood for almost an hour speaking on various topics. He answered many questions and filled them all with bliss and joy. Speaking on the ultimate truth written in various religions, Swami said, “The only way to understand what truth is by personal experience. Our scriptures speak about three steps to realisation. First is Shastra Pramana - is there a Pramana to this, is there somebody who has experienced this and written about it? Next is Tarka, which means you argue it within yourself, and find out the logical reasoning. Then you apply that Tarka logic and you only take what appeals to your judgement. The third step is Svanubhava - experience the truth for yourself by putting some effort. Then you are established in the truth. Most people take the scriptures, do not apply logic to it, and go about without even having a personal experience.” Swami then narrated the story of Bhrigu and his father Varuni, who was also his teacher. Through this story, Swami explained how the father ensured Bhrigu really understood God and experienced the oneness.

Swami said, “The real master understood that sweetness is God. Sweet is not a God. Sweet is a form of God. But what happened is that, over a period of time, 'ness' went away, and it became 'sweet' is God! And what emerged from sweet? ‘This sweet only is God. The rest of the sweets are not God.’ This is the case of somebody who has not experienced, and did not understand Brahma. They got into a Bhrama because this is all inexperienced knowledge.”

Swami went to say that the true understanding of God and happiness is everybody's individual experience. “You can't borrow the knowledge of God and say, ‘I know God.’ The more a person says, ‘I know God’, all the more you know he doesn't know God! Because, God....

DIVINE VISIT - SINGAPORE
 AUGUST 26 AND 27, 2019
A beautiful sunny day welcomed the students, as they headed to the Singapore Chinese Orchestra Hall for set up and sound check, pretty early to beat the rush hour traffic. It seemed like the students were filled with much more gratitude when they saw the world class professional concert hall, where they would perform in front of over 500 music lovers from Singapore and other near by countries. Ably led by their band teacher Mr Dimitris Lambrianos, the students diligently and passionately went about preparing for the evening Concert.

In the meanwhile, Swami proceeded to the residence of Dr Kesavan and Dr Roshni, as He was to bless their daughter for her auspicious baby shower. It was magical as Swami Himself chanted the Sri Suktam, and blessed the soul which would embrace a physical body for doing His work! Swami explained every line of the Sri Suktam, and after spending a lot of time privately with the family, He was served a special lunch, and thereafter departed to Sai Anandam for the afternoon.

Volunteers and organisers spent the afternoon and early evening preparing for the much awaited gratitude programme by the students of the brass band, Sai’s Angels. The band comprised of male students from the eighth grade to the pre-university level, aged 12 to 17. Immaculately dressed in their crisp jackets, the students reached the venue to take care of last minute arrangements. Guests started trickling in to the Hall from 6:00 p.m onwards, and the Guest of Honour Mr Amrin Amin, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Health and Mrs Amrin Amin arrived to enjoy the performance. His Excellency Murat Lutem, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Singapore and Mrs Guslum Idil Lutem, His Excellency Deputy Ambassador Pierre-Louis Lempereur, Deputy Head of Mission, European Union Delegation to Singapore and Mrs Iris Manzanares were among the distinguished guests for the evening.

Although these students had little to no exposure to music growing up, they were given an amazing opportunity to be part of a band with world class instruments, and had their first concert within....
