La semana congénita del corazón se observó del 7 al 14 de febrero, lo que permitió conocer la enfermedad y el diagnóstico temprano y la importancia de contar con personal calificado y capacitado. Informamos: 72,926 consultas pediátricas cardíacas, 8,150 cirugías cardíacas pediátricas e intervenciones de cateterismo, 67,666 niños rurales y 10,632 madres embarazadas rurales seguidas y atendidas mensualmente, hasta el momento, todo sin costo alguno. Sreenivas  Presidente Diamante en bruto  Se ha dicho que la resistencia del espíritu humano se puede medir por la capacidad de levantarse después de cada caída.  La historia de Kruthi Varshini define esa resistencia. Una joven de 25 años, Kruthi tiene una maestría en Sociología, nos recibió una lesión cardíaca congénita compleja: la tetrología de Fallot. De 32 kilos, es una de las tres hermanas en un hogar monoparental y principal financiadora de la familia que vive en un pequeño pueblo en el remoto Bihar.  A la edad de 5 años, a su madre le diagnosticaron un tumor en el cerebro y sufrió una larga y dolorosa 10 años antes de que finalmente sucumbiera a la enfermedad. Ella buscó Sociología para comprender mejor su situación, encontrar una respuesta y eventualmente convertirse en maestra. Siendo una estudiante brillante, aprendió a escribir e hizo algunos cursos de computación mientras trabajaba en un concesionario de autos para llegar a fin de mes. A medida que avanzaba su enfermedad, de la que no tenía conocimiento hasta la edad de 21 años, la actividad diaria se convirtió en una tarea ardua.  "Las finanzas eran muy difíciles y tenía muchos sueños. No teníamos ahorros, pero decidimos intentarlo una vez. RBSK (Rashtriya Baal Swasthya Karyakram): programa de evaluación de salud escolar, implementado en el estado desde 2014 con el objetivo de la detección temprana, la detección y el tratamiento de niños de 0 a 18 años con 4 Ds (Defectos, enfermedades, deficiencias y retrasos y discapacidades del desarrollo ). Según el plan de evaluación, el equipo viajó a diferentes partes de Raigarh, Arang, Abhanpur, Raipur y entrevistó a MHT, directores de escuelas / maestros / trabajadores de Anganwadi, oficial médico del bloque, director médico y de salud, beneficiarios (niños y sus padres). Se realizó un control de salud aleatorio para 10 estudiantes (que ya han sido evaluados por el equipo de salud móvil respectivo) en cada escuela y se seleccionó AWC para su evaluación. Una visita al DEIC (Centro de Intervención Temprana del Distrito) ubicada en el Hospital del Distrito y la interacción con el personal y los beneficiarios hizo que la evaluación fuera exhaustiva. Entrevistar a los beneficiarios mostró el impacto exacto del programa en sus vidas. Apreciaron al gobierno por esta iniciativa y también dieron algunas sugerencias para mejorar este programa. Después de la evaluación, el equipo recomendó el entrenamiento de inducción apropiado de RBSK MHT y el entrenamiento de actualización regular con más énfasis en las habilidades clínicas para la detección temprana de CHD en el Hospital Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani. Otras recomendaciones incluyeron proporcionar mano de obra calificada, el equipo y los medicamentos necesarios y la creación de la "ventana de Chirayu" en el Colegio Médico para el tratamiento de seguimiento rápido de los niños remitidos a través de RBSK. El informe se presentó a NHM, estado de Chhattisgarh, fue bien recibido y apreciado por los funcionarios y aseguró las acciones necesarias para una mejor implementación de RBSK en el estado de Chhattisgarh. El primer taller pediátrico de electrofisiología cardíaca en Chhattisgarh con mapeo electroanatómico 3D se realizó en el centro Atal Nagar de Sai Sanjeevani con el apoyo de Abbott India. La Dra. Narendra Kumar de Paras Hospitals Gurgaon y Patna fue la electrofisióloga que supervisó este taller. El Sr. Monotosh Mukherjee y la Sra. Samiksha Save de Abbott India ayudaron a proporcionar apoyo técnico y contribución para que este taller sea fructífero. La ablación con catéter de la arritmia se realizó bajo la guía de Ensite Navx (Abott) que ayudó a la detección precisa de focos anormales que causan la taquicardia. Simposio de arritmia  Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Atal Nagar in association with Arrhythmia Support Network, Association of Physicians, Cardiological Society of India, Chhattisgarh Chapter had organised the 2nd Atrial Fibrillation and Ventricular Arrhythmia Symposium on 24 February 2019. The conference was conceptualised by Dr Rohit Walia , Founder of Arrhythmia Supoprt Network and a practising electrophysiologist at AIIMS Rishikesh. The Guests of honour at this event were Padmashree Dr AT Dabke, pediatrician and an exemplary teacher, and Dr Nitin Nagarkar, Director of AIIMS, Raipur. In his inaugural address, Dr Dabke stressed on the importance of genetic research in the field of cardiology. The visiting faculty and the moderators alike commended the Organizing Committee for taking this specific and extensive topic as a part of continuing medical education. The sessions were divided into three parts, Atrial Fibrillation Session, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Session and Ventricular Arrhythmia Session. Undoubtedly with newer advances in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, these arrhythmias are more treatable than what they used to be few years ago. In addition, Sudden cardiac death is a lesser known entity and there is a need to make all practising physicians aware of early diagnosis of such syndromes and primary prevention of sudden cardiac arrest. The speakers at this conference included Dr Satyajit Singh, Dr Rupali Khanna, Dr Deepak Padmanabhan, Dr Rohit Walia, Dr Narendra Kumar, Dr Ashish Katewa, Dr Prashant Verma, Dr Prashant Thakur, Dr Yash Srivastava, Dr Preeti Gupta, Dr Atul Prabhu and Dr Javed Parvez. The moderators included, Dr AT Dabke, Dr Ashish Malhotra, Dr Javed Khan, Dr Ajay Sahai, Dr Kinjal Bakshi, Dr Bajrang Bansal, and Dr Firoz Memon. The symposium was well appreciated by the faculty and the delegates. Dr Ashish Katewa and Dr Krishna Manohar, Chief  Pediatric Cardiac Surgeons from Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centres Atal Nagar and Palwal respectively represented Sai Sanjeevani at the 65th IACTS Conference along with 27th ASCVTS Conference as eminent Faculty, held at Chennai from the 21st to 24th February 2019. Of these, Love is the Greatest. Corinthians 12:12  In volatile times such as these, the need for a different path, physically, emotionally and spiritually has demanded president. The search has become more internal. The form morphed to formlessness. What was once, “seeing is believing “ has now transformed to “believe and you will see”. So a question comes to light, can something purely theosophical take corporeal form? Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani began as an internal quest. Grasping at a fleeting promise made. Faced with an uncertain future and a handful who understood and encouraged. As perseverance and courage of a few ensued, it began on the foundation of Faith and functioned on the premise of Hope. But what truly added flavour was the Currency of Love. And so Sanjeevani materialised. The month of February was riddled with several little events apart from the 500 children that left our institutes healed.The Palwal centre was visited by Dr.Ekochin Fintan C, Honourable commisioner of Health, Enugu State, Nigeria. Congenital Heart Week was observed from 7th to 14th of February, bringing awareness of the disease and early diagnosis and the importance of trained skilled staff. From the Heart  Our Founding Father Who is Sathya Sai Baba? A question that will remain a mystery and ever be a mystique. Sathya Sai Baba enabled us, to realize our own selves in His Presence. The beauty of Him was we found ourselves in His presence and knowing ourselves is truly, knowing Humanity.  I and YOU are ONE was the life and message of Sathya Sai Baba. That the suffering of ONE was as much the suffering of another was His unifying message. To alleviate the suffering of each other and to fill that with Love is what He lives and works for. This timeless Truth in changing times stands as testimony to the work being done in Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani. As the Omniscient, Omnipresent Founding Father, His message of LOVE ALL, SERVE ALL forms the cardinal rule for the workings of this great Institute. C. Sreenivas Chairman Diamond in the Rough  It's been said, the resilience of the Human Spirit can be measured by the capacity to rise after every fall. The story of Kruthi Varshini defines that resilience. A 25-year old young woman, Kruthi has a masters degree in Sociology, came to us with a complex Congenital Heart Lesion - Tetrology of Fallot. All of 32 kilos, she is one of three sisters in a single parent household and primary financier of the family living in a small town in remote Bihar. At the age of 5 her mother was diagnosed with a tumour in the brain and suffered a long, painful 10 years before she finally succumbed to the disease. She pursued Sociology to better understand her situation, find an answer and eventually become a teacher. Being a bright student, she picked up typing and did some computer courses while she worked at a Car Dealer's to make ends meet. As her disease progressed, of which she was unaware of till the age of 21, daily activity became an arduous task. "Finances were very difficult and I had so many dreams. We had no savings but we decided to try once. The charges were going to be more that 300,000 rupees with no guarantee" She recollects when asked about what she was going through when she first got diagnosed. Dejected a hard decision was made. With no knowledge of the complexity of the disease, she decided she would continue earning what she could to get her sisters married, till it was time to go. It was 4 years later, she was told to leave her job as her disease had progressed to the extent where she was losing her hearing. Completely devastated with no idea of her next option, she walked home working on plan B. On a visit to Delhi, to meet a 'wealthy relative' she met a 'God-send' she says. Waiting at the train station after a futile visit, Kruthi met a financial man working for Birla Finance who told her about Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani. "I went to borrow money for my household, but I was being told I could probably get cured for free." She said it was like a bet she had to make - Try and get money for the family or take a chance to treat herself. She says, it was the hardest decision she made. She bet on Sanjeevani. Her disease was complex and because of her advances age, the body had adapted to the disease in such a way, a classical surgery was out of question. On the operating table, just before she was taken under, she was the face of poise, calm and endurance. 7 days after that moment, she was headed home with the Gift of Time, Hope  and Life. "It feels my life before surgery was a dream. My education taught me about society and its difficulties and my experience taught me absolutely nothing is free. Here at Sanjeevani, there are different types of societies and Free Exists." The Sanjeevani Impact Factor Blessing, Like Love can only beget more of itself. In one of the impact interviews, a father Mr Ganpati Yadav, a government school teacher from Dhamtari district in Chhattisgarh, father of Aditi, a child suffering from ASD and treated at Sai Sanjeevani has expressed his heartfelt gratitude.          “The hospital, the services offered and the staff which include the doctors, the nurses and every single staff are truly a blessing for the families who cannot afford this treatment. This Hospital and the New Life which was given to my child is the blessing of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The parental outreach classes on cleanliness, sanitation and awareness are those that turn hopelessness into hope and help us learn ways to take better care of our children. Totally Free of Cost and the undercurrent of Love is what makes this a very special place. There is no way I can repay what was given to me, but I can pray that every staff member may always be blessed.” The simplicity and yet the profoundness of his words will resonate and stand to serve as a recharge in continued effort of Healing Little Hearts. Beyond Borders 3 year old Abdulla from Bangladesh, with his mother. "Love transcends boundaries, languages, religions and everything human made. Love is Divine and will forever be." - said the tearful mother. Crossing Oceans “My daughter took her first steps here, there is nothing but gratitude in my heart. India means so much, but it means Life and Sanjeevani, to my daughter, to me and my son and to our extended family.” Amayra Ahana Prasad, born on 3rdOctober, 2017 to a Fijian Indian family was suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot and was diagnosed when she was 4 months old. The non-availability of pediatric cardiac facilities resulted in insurmountable grief and desperation. Amayra’s father, facing difficulty coming to terms with the illness, passed away a few months later, leaving the family broken. “I was left with my son and a sick Amayra with no direction and support when my mother-in-law too, passed away, adding more tragedy to an already grave situation.” Beverly, the mother reminisces, “I was very scared and worried. There seemed no hope. Any private clinic told us that Australia or New Zealand would have the facilities but we cannot guarantee her life being saved. Dr Maryanne Koraai, who helped diagnose the child was instrumental in linking us to Sai Sanjeevani during the Hospital's Mission to Fiji in April 2018. We were informed about the risks of this journey to India. I was praying, with all my heart. Amayra had a Tet spell (She turned uncontrollably blue and stopped breathing or moving) on the flight. With the assistance of the doctor accompanying  us, it's only the Grace of God, we touched down in India. "Thinking about all that happened to us, look at her today, She is pink, she is happy. We have nothing but gratitude for the entire Sanjeevani family. There is nothing I can do to repay for the life we have all been gifted. She is walking, standing, smiling and is healthy. We received this and we don’t need anything more. My son is waiting for me back home. I will have to start a new life for them. I am nervous but confident. Prayers work and this association is just a beginning. Amayra belongs to Sanjeevani as much as to our family. The Growing Need for Sai Sanjeevani As on 28th February 2019 When a Child arrives at Sai Sanjeevani, it goes through an extensive diagnostic examination. The team of Cardiologists do an exemplary job of taking care of these children, infusing them and their families with a sense of hope and promise. Parivartan Maharashtra & Sanjeevani In the presence of Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, the Government of Maharashtra signed a Memorandum of Understanding recognizing Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Child Heart Care & Training in Pediatric Cardiac Skills, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai as a 'Center of Excellence' in Child Heart Care for the State of Maharashtra. Shri C. Sreenivas, Chairman of the Trust and Cricket Legend Sunil Gavaskar represented Sanjeevani at the event. Divine Mother & Child Health Program The Divine Mother and Child Health Program is a unique Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani initiative providing Tertiary to Primary Healthcare at the source. The work tirelessly continues as momentum is gained in the form of an increase in the workforce of volunteering young doctors from various parts of the world, obstetricians and gynaecologists, over-seas subject experts and Our own vivacious Departmental Heads. The presence of a Tertiary care Centre in a Primary Healthcare Cohort is an unusual and tremendous value addition to the current scenario. The Antenatal Screening program took wind under this aegis and several pregnant mothers have enrolled in our program for monthly monitoring and assessment.  Where Sanjeevani Audits An Invitation was received from the Government  of Chhattisgarh, National Health Mission, to the Department of Public Health, Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Raipur, for conducting a rapid External evaluation of its Rashtriya Baal Swasthya Karyakram Programme. RBSK (Rashtriya Baal Swasthya Karyakram) - school health screening program, implemented in the state since 2014 with the objective of early identification, detection and treatment of children from 0 to 18 years having 4 Ds (Defects, Diseases, Deficiency and Developmental Delays and Disabilities). Children from 0 to 6 year registered in Anganwadi Center (AWC) should be screened twice a year and children from 6 to 18 years enrolled in Govt. and Govt. aided schools should be screened once a year. For the Evaluation, All districts were assessed for RBSK performance till date from data available online on RBSK portal and list of good and poor performing districts was drawn from the report. One good performing district (Raigarh) and one poor performing district (Raipur) were selected. Two blocks (one rural & one urban each) were randomly selected from each district and all 8 MHTs (Mobile Health Teams) of the selected block were included for the assessment. As per the evaluation plan, the team travelled to different parts of Raigarh, Arang, Abhanpur, Raipur and interviewed MHT’s, School principals/teachers/Anganwadi workers, Block Medical Officer, Chief Medical & Health Officer, Beneficiaries (children & their parents). Random health check was performed for 10 students (who have already been screened by the respective mobile health team) in each school and AWC selected for evaluation. A visit to DEIC(District Early Intervention Centre) located at District Hospital and interaction with staff and beneficiaries made the evaluation comprehensive. Interviewing beneficiaries showed the exact impact of the program on their lives. They appreciated the government for this initiative and also gave few suggestions to make this program better. After evaluation, the team recommended for appropriate induction training of RBSK MHT’s and regular refresher training with more emphasis on clinical skills for early detection of CHD at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital. Other recommendations included providing skilled manpower, necessary equipment & medicines and creation of "Chirayu window" at Medical College for fast tracking treatment of children referred through RBSK. The report was submitted to NHM, Chhattisgarh state, and was well received and appreciated by the officials and assured necessary actions for better implementation of RBSK in Chhattisgarh State. The Anganwadi workers have been the backbone of the country’s primary health care. In lieu of Tertiary in Primary Health Care initiative by the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Institutions, Dr. Rishikesh, Dr. Sreenivas and Mr. C Sreenivas, Chairman, Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trustlaunched the training program for Anganwadi Sevikas. They will be trained for early detection of Congenital Heart Diseases by symptomology and progress of growth in children from the ages of 0 - 3 years and maternal health and nutrition through Sai Sure, the divine Nutritional Supplement. The Kharghar Navi Mumabi DMCHP team have screened a record 1000 children in a mere 30 days. In the meanwhile in Karnataka *Beginning of a Nutrition Revolution* SaiSure- A totally free of cost multi nutrient supplement programme was dedicated to the service of humanity by Minister of Agriculture, Govt of Karnataka. Expecting mothers, Toddlers and Children in rural India under the care of Divine Mother and Child Health Programme And Annapoorna Breakfast Programme will now receive high quality nutritional supplements that will address the nutritional deficiencies. An eager RGUHS Divine Mother and Child Health Programme in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University for Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bangalore have comprehensively screened close to 20000 govt school children in Chikkaballapur district, Karnataka in the last 8 months. Close to 350 medical interns got an opportunity to work in a rural setting and understand the healthcare delivery in our villages. RGUHS, one of the largest Governmental Universities in the Country today, recognized Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani as an authority in Tertiary Healthcare facilitating Primary Healthcare.  Academic Session 1st Central India Electrophysiology Workshop & 2nd Arrhythmia Symposium Electro-Physiology study workshop First ever pediatric cardiac electrophysiology workshop in Chhattisgarh with 3D electroanatomic mapping was performed in Sai Sanjeevani Atal Nagar centre with the support of Abbott India. Dr Narendra Kumar from Paras Hospitals Gurgaon and Patna was the Electrophysiologist was the proctor for this workshop. Mr Monotosh Mukherjee and Ms Samiksha Save from Abbott India were helpful in providing technical support and contribution towards making this workshop fruitful. Catheter ablation of arrhythmia.was performed under guidance of Ensite Navx (Abott)Which helped in accurate detection of abnormal foci causing the tachycardia. Arrhythmia Symposium  Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, Atal Nagar in association with Arrhythmia Support Network, Association of Physicians, Cardiological Society of India, Chhattisgarh Chapter had organised the 2nd Atrial Fibrillation and Ventricular Arrhythmia Symposium on 24 February 2019. The conference was conceptualised by Dr Rohit Walia , Founder of Arrhythmia Supoprt Network and a practising electrophysiologist at AIIMS Rishikesh. The Guests of honour at this event were Padmashree Dr AT Dabke, pediatrician and an exemplary teacher, and Dr Nitin Nagarkar, Director of AIIMS, Raipur. In his inaugural address, Dr Dabke stressed on the importance of genetic research in the field of cardiology. The visiting faculty and the moderators alike commended the Organizing Committee for taking this specific and extensive topic as a part of continuing medical education. The sessions were divided into three parts, Atrial Fibrillation Session, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Session and Ventricular Arrhythmia Session. Undoubtedly with newer advances in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, these arrhythmias are more treatable than what they used to be few years ago. In addition, Sudden cardiac death is a lesser known entity and there is a need to make all practising physicians aware of early diagnosis of such syndromes and primary prevention of sudden cardiac arrest. The speakers at this conference included Dr Satyajit Singh, Dr Rupali Khanna, Dr Deepak Padmanabhan, Dr Rohit Walia, Dr Narendra Kumar, Dr Ashish Katewa, Dr Prashant Verma, Dr Prashant Thakur, Dr Yash Srivastava, Dr Preeti Gupta, Dr Atul Prabhu and Dr Javed Parvez. The moderators included, Dr AT Dabke, Dr Ashish Malhotra, Dr Javed Khan, Dr Ajay Sahai, Dr Kinjal Bakshi, Dr Bajrang Bansal, and Dr Firoz Memon. The symposium was well appreciated by the faculty and the delegates. Dr Ashish Katewa and Dr Krishna Manohar, Chief  Pediatric Cardiac Surgeons from Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centres Atal Nagar and Palwal respectively represented Sai Sanjeevani at the 65th IACTS Conference along with 27th ASCVTS Conference as eminent Faculty, held at Chennai from the 21st to 24th February 2019. Dr Ashish Katewa was invited to be a panelist on two sessions which were quite relevant and significant in the current day healthcare paradigm in a resource intensive field such as Pediatric Cardiac Care for Congenital Heart Disease ‘Cost management of Pediatric Cardiac Surgical Program,’ The second session where he was a panellist was on the importance and the need for a ‘Pediatric Cardiac Database.’ Dr Rajsekhar Kollipara, an Internal and Family Medicine Practitioner with a successful private practice in the United States of America. He is a very dear and esteemed member of the Sai Sanjeevani Family and has visited the Sai Sanjeevani Atal Nagar Centre since inception in 2012. He conducted a day long Continuing Nursing Education Session on Basic Life Support, aseptic and medical cleanliness techniques, nutrition and pain management. The classes conducted were hands-on and with multiple practice sessions to ensure that all the participants were thorough in the learning. These sessions were interactive thereby ensuring a culture of communication on these topics of patient care and good practices. This is his 6th year of conduction of classes that he has pledged to continue doing. Dr Rajsekhar is also the Secretary of Gandhi Medical College Global Association and an American Heart Association Certified Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Rajsekhar for taking time off his busy schedule to come serve in the spirit of Volunteerism.  Eminent Visitors It was a day of incredible vitality in Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani, Palwal Center. On 13-02-2019 we had Andrea Csaszar, Sherry Pudloski, Ajay Jain, Deepa Baburaaj & Ankit Chaudhury from The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America spending time with the children who got treated in our Hospital. The group was very moved by nature of work done by our organization and have committed to sending their representatives from India Operations to volunteer in our Hospital further in saving little hearts. On 10 February 2019, Dr Prakash and Dr Mandakini Amte, Social Workers from Maharashtra and Magsaysay Award Winners have visited the Atal Nagar Centre and Sowbhagyam- Centre for Human Development. Dr. Prakash Amte - son of Murlidhar Devidas Amte, popularly known as 'Baba Amte', who dedicated his life in helping Leprosy stricken patients. Like father, Prakashji too, is a Social worker. A Padmashree awardee and General Surgeon by profession, Shri Prakashji has done phenomenal work in underserved areas of Maharashtra, Telengana and Madhya Pradesh. He was pleasantly surprised to see the extensively developed centre and was moved by the hospital's recognition of his father in the form of an Inspirational Panel. The Palwal centre was visited by Dr.Ekochin Fintan C, Honourable Commissioner for Health under the Ministry of Health, Government of Enugu State, Nigeria. They have expressed a keen appreciation for the work being done by the Sanjeevani Hospitals and the Totally Free of Cost model of quality healthcare.
