XXXI convocatoria anual del ISSSES - Informe ...

La Convocatoria Anual 31 ª del  Instituto Superior de Estudios Sri Sathya Sai (Considerado Universidad) se celebró en la Presencia Divina en el Sai Kulwant Hall, Prashanti Nilayam, el jueves 22 November 2012. El acto de convocatoria se realizó en la mañana, 11 a.m. a 12:30 p.m. En la sesión de la tarde, que comenzó a las 5.00 pm, el  Premio a la Excelencia en Investigación y Docencia "Sai Krishna", fue seguido por el drama para la convocatoria anual, realizado por los alumnos de la Universidad, que concluyó a las 7:30 pm A continuación, un resumen de las actuaciones del día.

La Convocatoria Anual

Este año, la procesión ceremonial entró en el Sai Kulwant Hall a las 11.00 horas. Incluyo el invitado principal, el Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Catedrático del Centro Bhabha de Investigaciones Atómicas y ex presidente de la Comisión de Energía Atómica de la India, el Prof. J Shashidhara Prasad, Vice -Canciller, y el ex Vice-Rectore, los miembros de la Junta Directiva, Consejo de Administración y el Consejo Académico. 

La procesión fue encabezada por la banda de música del Instituto, seguido por dos estudiantes.
El Vice-Canciller buscó las bendiciones del Canciller Venerado Fundador, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, y el Secretario, Dr. Naren Ramji formalmente dio la bienvenida al invitado de honor con guirnaldas para él. Los actos de la convocatoria comenzaron con el canto de los himnos védicos por un grupo de estudiantes. A partir de entonces, el Vice-Chancellor oró al Canciller venerado fundador, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, y declarar abierta la Convocatoria. La convocatoria se declaró abierta en la voz de Bhagavan.

Discurso Introductorio Vice-Canciller.

Ofreciendo saludo a los Pies de Loto de Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, el Vice-Canciller observó que la presencia de Bhagavan se podía sentir en esta función, y como sus hijos dispuso a salir de los portales del Instituto santificado fundada por él, llevando su mensaje de amor por el mundo.
Luego ofreció una bienvenida cálida y afectuosa ha el invitado principal, el Dr. Anil Kakodkar.
El Vice-Canciller luego destacó los avances logrados por ISSSES en el año académico anterior (2011/12). Esto incluyó una nueva infraestructura (edificios y espacios de extensión de vida en el campus de Prashanti Nilayam y Anantapur), nuevos programas académicos y el inicio del cuarto campus de ISSSES en Muddenahalli, Karnataka.

Destacó la colaboración en investigación entre ISSSES, SSSIHMS y Food and Drug Administration (FDA), EE.UU. para un mejor diagnóstico de los pacientes con enfermedades mortales y también el nuevo laboratorio de cultivos celulares de condrocitos en SSSIHMS. Este último explora las posibilidades de cultivo celular de condrocitos en el tratamiento de los defectos del cartílago de rodilla, ayudando así a los pacientes a evitar cirugías de reemplazo de articulaciones y los síntomas y los costos asociados.
A continuación destacó datos claves estadísticos de la universidad, como el número de alumnos por maestro en ISSSES de 8:1 (en comparación con 30:1 de Instituciones de grado "A"en la India), año contra año aumento  publicaciones de investigación y la creciente cualificación del profesorado (más del 60% de todos los maestros en ISSSES ahora tienen un doctorado).
Tras destacar el Curso de Verano de Cultura India y Espiritualidad (en junio de 2012), el Vice-Canciller reiteró que el Instituto continúa sus mejores esfuerzos en formación de valores basado en la educación integral de los alumnos (como es concebido por Bhagavan Baba), junto con el desarrollo de su excelencia académica.

Títulos y Medallas de Oro a graduados.

Tras el discurso introductorio del Vice-Canciller, Sri GS Srirangarajan, El Contralor de Exámenes, presentó los graduados al Venerado Canciller, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, para la entrega de títulos y el Vice-Chancellor administró la convocatoria para el juramento. Medallas de oro se entregaron posteriormente a los estudiantes meritorios. Este año, 457 estudiantes recibieron grados, 22 estudiantes fueron premiados con medallas de oro y tres becarios de investigación se les otorgo doctorados.

Invitado principal de la Dirección Convocatoria.

Entregando su dirección de convocatoria al invitado principal, el Dr. Anil Kakodkar destacó que esta institución tiene una fuerte base espiritual y previsión social, que permite a los estudiantes permanecer arraigados en la India y su sistema de valores.
Felicitó a los graduados y aconsejó que se conviertan en una parte del proceso de construcción de la nación, ya que la educación les permitió tener una gran fuerza constructiva para impulsar el crecimiento inclusivo de la nación como un todo. Al referirse a los desafíos que enfrenta la nación, Dr. Kakodkar advirtió que el rápido crecimiento económico también debería reducir la brecha de disparidad para que no se cause frustración en los jóvenes, que podrían ser difíciles de contener. Hablo sobre un nuevo paradigma de la educación, el distinguido orador hizo hincapié en la necesidad de crear un ambiente de aprendizaje holístico, (hacer de la educación centrada en el alumno) y la traducción rápida de nuevos conocimientos que permitan avanzar hacia una mejor calidad de vida. La investigación en las universidades, dijo, debe tender a empujar las fronteras del conocimiento, así como la evolución de las tecnologías para el desarrollo integral.

Instó a los estudiantes a mantener el espíritu de la custodia y contribuir sustancialmente a sus raíces, a la sociedad en torno a las instituciones, que los vio crecer y la nación en general. Este es el espíritu de fideicomiso, dijo, y el deseo de apoyar a otros que no fueron tan afortunados como nosotros o exitosos en hacer de este mundo un lugar mejor.

Bendición del Venerado Canciller Fundador.

Esto fue seguido por la Bendición del Venerado Rector Fundador, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, quien hizo hincapié en que se trataba sólo de Sathya y Dharma, y que tenía el poder para proteger al mundo. Aconsejó a los estudiantes a darse cuenta de la sacralidad de la cultura de Bharat, servir a la sociedad desinteresadamente y ganar un buen nombre. Afirman que los estudiantes son su única propiedad, Bhagavan les dijo que la educación no era sólo para ganarse la vida, sino para la vida. Bhagavan dijo: Cientos de miles de estudiantes, reciben títulos cada año, pero lo que los estudiantes deben adquirir es el grado de Educare, y manifestar su divinidad innata.

La Bendición Divina, seguido por el himno nacional y el Arati, marcó el final de la ceremonia de la 31ª Convocatoria Anual.

El premio "Sai Krishna" de Investigación y Docencia.

La sesión de la tarde comenzó con la ceremonia de los Premios de Investigacion y Enseñanza " Sai Krishna", el cual ha sido instituido para reconocer y honrar a los mejores investigadores y profesores del ISSSES cada año. Los premios alternos entre los mejores investigadores y docentes superiores cada año. Consiste en un certificado, un recuerdo y un premio en efectivo de Rs.25, 000.
Este año, los premios reconocen la excelencia en la enseñanza.  El Contralor de Exámenes, Sri GS Srirangarajan, fue el maestro de ceremonias.

Explicó que Bhagavan Baba en comparación a los maestros estimula a los estudiantes con sus toques. En un sistema de educación integral basada en valores como ISSSES, el papel del maestro es más que la enseñanza, la investigación y los correspondientes responsabilidades administrativas. Se extiende más allá de las paredes de la sala de clase y exige tiempo del maestro y atención para el desarrollo de la personalidad integral de los estudiantes en los ámbitos físico, mental, intelectual, emocional, psicológico y espiritual.
Los ganadores de los premios 2012 a los mejores maestros, cada uno de los Campus de Anantapur, Campus de Brindavan y el Campus de Prashanti Nilayam, fueron seleccionados sobre la base de una evaluación exhaustiva de su desempeño en la docencia, la tutoría y la participación en las actividades co-curriculares de nuestro sistema integral educativo.

El Honorable AP Misra, ex juez de la Corte Suprema de la India, y miembro del Instituto Sri Sathya Sai de Educación Superior (Charitable Trust Pública) entregó los premios. 

Los premiados fueron:
Anantapur Campus: Sra. U. Suma, Asst. Profesor del Departamento de Comercio.
Campus Brindavan: Sri Ruchir Desai, profesor asociado del Departamento de Comercio.
Prashanti Nilayam Campus: Dr. R. Gowri Shankar, Asst. Profesor del Departamento de Física.
Divya Yatra: Convocatorias y Dramas.

Esto fue seguida por el drama para la convocatoria anual, presentado por los estudiantes de ISSSES. El drama de este año se titulo "Divya Yatra" (Viaje Divino).
El drama utilizó la metáfora del viaje de un tren para representar el camino de la vida de un hombre.
La escena inaugural mostró pasajeros a bordo de un compartimiento del tren de la estación de la ciudad y, finalmente, llegar a la estación de Shanti Kunj (morada de la paz), parando en el camino en Daulat Nagar (Ciudad de la riqueza), Parivartan (transformación) y Ganj Imtihan (etapa de prueba ).

Cada estación (y las parcelas y sub-parcelas entre ellas) simbolizaban las diferentes pruebas (en forma de tentaciones mundanas) que un hombre por lo general enfrentaría en un viaje espiritual y cómo tendría que trascenderlas (las tentaciones) si llegara a alcanzar la paz suprema, el objetivo final del camino terrenal del hombre. El drama destacó las enseñanzas de Bhagavan, que el hombre debe tener " menos equipaje y más comodidad" - es decir, hay que arrojar el equipaje de nuestros deseos, con el fin de hacer el viaje de la vida mas cómodo.

En conclusión, se retrata que los que tenía plena fe en Dios pudieron llegar a su destino final, que no era otro que Sri Sathya Sai Prashanti Nilayam. La presentación incluyó episodios de flashback de la vida de Rama, Krishna y Jesús. La representación realista de un viaje en tren (incluido un tren, una estación y accesorios relacionados), fue de excelente desempeño, el manejo del escenario, cantos apropiados y buena dirección, hizo que el drama sea una presentación impresionante.
A la conclusión del drama,  regalos fueron entregados a los participantes. Esto fue seguido por Bhajans y distribución de Prasadam. 

Bhagavan cerro cantando el bhajan, "Prema Mudita Manase Kaho Rama Rama Ram" , y  seguidamente con el Arati a las 7:30 pm.

Dr. Abdul Kalam, Presidente de la India, se dirigió a la Unión Europea en el Parlamento en abril de 2007. A continuación, presentamos un extracto en el que cita un dicho de Sathya Sai Baba:

Si hay rectitud en el corazón, hay belleza en el carácter.
Cuando hay belleza en el carácter, hay armonía en el hogar.
Cuando hay armonía en el hogar, hay un orden en la nación.
Cuando hay orden en la nación, hay paz en el mundo.

Después del discurso, y la ovación de pie, el Presidente del Parlamento Europeo, dijo: "Señor Presidente Abdul Kalam, en nombre del Parlamento Europeo, quiero darle las gracias por este discurso muy importante e inspirador. Este fue uno de las más extraordinarias intervenciones que hemos escuchado nunca. Desde un estadista, científico y poeta, esto es único. Todo lo mejor para esta gran nación India, todo lo mejor para nuestra cooperación entre la gran nación India y la Unión Europea, todo lo mejor al Sr. Presidente ".

XXXI Annual Convocation Of SSSIHL – A Report…

The 31st Annual Convocation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Deemed to be University) was held in the Divine Presence at Sai Kulwant Hall, Prasanthi Nilayam on Thursday, 22November 2012. The convocation ceremony was held in the morning between 11.00 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. In the evening session, which commenced at 5.00 p.m., the “Sai Krishna” award for Excellence in Research & Teaching was followed by the annual convocation drama, performed by the students of the University, which concluded at 7.30 p.m. Given below are highlights of the day’s proceedings.

The Annual Convocation.

This year, the ceremonial procession entered Sai Kulwant Hall at 11.00 a.m. It included the chief guest, Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Homi Bhabha Chair Professor, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission of India, Prof. J Shashidhara Prasad, Vice-Chancellor, former Vice-Chancellors, Members of the Board of Trustees, Board of Management and Academic Council. The procession was led by the Institute brass band followed by two students carrying the Institute Standards on either side of the Registrar, who carried the Ceremonial Mace.
The Vice-Chancellor sought the blessings of the Revered Founder Chancellor, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and the Registrar, Dr. Naren Ramji formally welcomed the chief guest by garlanding him. The proceedings of the Convocation began with chanting of Vedic hymns by a group of students. Thereafter, the Vice-Chancellor prayed to the Revered Founder Chancellor, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to declare the Convocation open. The convocation was declared open in Bhagawan’s voice.
Vice-Chancellor’s Introductory Speech
Offering salutation at the Lotus Feet of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Vice-Chancellor observed that the presence of Bhagawan could be felt at this function as His children prepared to leave the portals of the hallowed Institute founded by Him, carrying His message of love into the world.
He then offered a warm and affectionate welcome to the chief guest, Dr. Anil Kakodkar.
The Vice-Chancellor then highlighted the progress made by SSSIHL in the preceding academic year (2011/12). This included new infrastructure (extension buildings and living spaces in the Prasanthi Nilayam and Anantapur campuses), new academic programmes and the commencement of SSSIHL’s fourth campus at Muddenahalli, Karnataka.

He highlighted the collaborative research between SSSIHL, SSSIHMS and Food and Drug Administration (FDA), USA for better diagnosis for patients with fatal diseases and also the new Chondrocyte Cell Culture Lab at SSSIHMS. The latter will explore the possibilities of chondrocyte cell culture in treating knee cartilage defects, thus helping patients avoid joint replacement surgeries and the symptoms and costs associated with it.
He then highlighted key statistical facts of the university such as the Student-Teacher Ratio at SSSIHL of 8:1 (compared to 30:1 for ‘A’ grade Institutions in India), year-on-year increase of research publications and the growing qualifications of the teaching faculty (over 60% of all teachers at SSSIHL now have a Ph.D.).
Highlighting the Summer Course in Indian Culture & Spirituality (in June 2012), the Vice-Chancellor reiterated how the Institute continues its best efforts in imparting values-based Integral Education to students (as conceived by Bhagawan Baba) along with developing their academic excellence.
Degrees and Gold Medals to Graduands
Following the Vice-Chancellor’s introductory speech, Sri G S Srirangarajan, The Controller of Examinations, presented the graduands to the Revered Chancellor, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba for the award of degrees and the Vice-Chancellor administered the convocation pledge to them. Gold medals were thereafter presented to meritorious students. This year, 457 students were awarded degrees, 22 students were awarded gold medals and three research scholars were awarded doctoral degrees.

Chief Guest’s Convocation Address.

Delivering his convocation address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Anil Kakodkar stressed that this institution has a strong spiritual basis and social foresight that enables students to remain rooted in India and her value system even as the students scale new heights in terms of higher education.
He congratulated the graduands and advised them to become a part of the nation-building process as education empowered them to be a major constructive force to propel inclusive growth of the nation as a whole. Referring to the challenges facing the nation, Dr. Kakodkar cautioned that fast economic growth should also reduce the disparity gap lest it should cause frustration in youth which might be difficult to contain. Elucidating on a new education paradigm shift, the distinguished speaker emphasised the need for creating a holistic learning environment, (making education student-centric) and quick translation of new knowledge for moving towards a better quality of life. Research in universities, he said, should aim at pushing frontiers of knowledge as well as evolving technologies for all-round development.

He urged students to retain the spirit of trusteeship and contribute substantially to their roots, the society around, the institutions that brought them up and the nation at large. It is this spirit of trusteeship, he said, and the desire to support others who were not as fortunate or successful as us that makes this world a better place.
Revered Founder Chancellor’s Benedictory Address
This was followed by the Benedictory Address of the Revered Founder Chancellor, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who emphasised that it was only Sathya and Dharma that had the power to protect the world. He advised students to realise the sacredness of the culture of Bharat, serve society selflessly and earn a good name. Stating that students are His only property, Bhagawan told them that education was not merely for a living but for life. Lakhs of students, Bhagawan said, received degrees every year, but what students should acquire is the degree of Educare, and manifest their innate divinity.
The Divine Benediction, followed by the national anthem and arati, marked the end of the 31stAnnual Convocation ceremony.

The “Sai Krishna Award” for Research and Teaching.

The evening session commenced with the annual “Sai Krishna Award” for Research and Teaching Awards ceremony, which has been instituted to recognize and honour the top researchers and teachers of SSSIHL each year. The awards alternate between top researchers and top teachers every year. It consists of a certificate, a memento and a cash award of Rs.25,000.
This year, the awards recognized excellence in teaching. Sri G S Srirangarajan, The Controller of Examinations, was the master of ceremonies.
He explained that Bhagawan Baba compared teachers to the overhead tank and students to taps. In a values-based integral education system like SSSIHL, the role of the teacher is more than teaching, research and associated administrative responsibilities. It extends beyond the walls of the classroom and demands the teacher’s time and attention for the all-round personality development of the students in the physical, mental, intellectual, emotional, psychological and spiritual domains.
The recipients of the 2012 awards for best teacher, one each from the Anantapur Campus, Brindavan Campus and the Prasanthi Nilayam Campus, were selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of their performance in teaching, mentoring and participation in the co-curricular activities of our integral education system.
Honourable Justice A P Misra, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, and member, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning (Public Charitable Trust) then gave away the awards. The awardees were:
Anantapur Campus: Ms. U. Suma, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Commerce
Brindavan Campus: Sri Ruchir Desai, Associate Professor, Dept. of Commerce
Prasanthi Nilayam Campus: Dr. R. Gowri Shankar, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Physics

Divya Yatra: Convocation Drama

This was followed by the Annual convocation drama, presented by the students of SSSIHL. The drama this year was entitled, “Divya Yatra” (Divine Journey).
The drama used the metaphor of a train’s journey to depict the life journey of a man.
The opening scene showcased passengers boarding a train compartment from the City Station and ultimately reaching the station of Shanti Kunj (abode of peace), halting en route at Daulat Nagar (city of wealth), Parivartan (transformation) and Imtihan Ganj (stage of test).
Each station (and the plots and sub-plots between them) symbolised the various tests (in the form of worldly temptations) a man would typically face on a spiritual journey and how he would have to transcend them (the temptations) if he were to attain supreme peace, the ultimate goal of man’s earthly journey. The drama highlighted the teachings of Bhagawan that man should have ‘less luggage and more comfort’ – i.e. we must shed the luggage of our desires in order to make the journey of life comfortable.
In conclusion, it portrayed that those who had full faith in God could reach their final destination which was no other than Sri Sathya Sai Prasanthi Nilayam. The presentation included flashback episodes from the lives of Rama, Krishna and Jesus. Realistic depiction of a train journey (including a set with a train, a station and related props), excellent acting, prompt stage management, appropriate songs and good direction made the drama an impressive presentation.
At the conclusion of the drama, gifts were presented to the participants. This was followed by Bhajans and distribution of Prasadam. Bhagawan singing the Bhajan, “Prema Mudita Manase Kaho Rama Rama Ram” was followed with Arati at 7.30 p.m.

Dr. Abdul Kalam, President of India, addressed the European Union Parliament in April 2007. Here, we present an extract in which he quotes a saying by Sathya Sai Baba:
Where there is righteousness in the heart, there is beauty in the character.
When there is beauty in the character, there is harmony in the home.
When there is harmony in the home, there is an order in the nation.
When there is order in the nation, there is peace in the world.

After the speech, and standing ovation, the President of the European Parliament, said, "Mr President Abdul Kalam, in the name of European Parliament, I want to thank you for this most important and inspiring speech. This was one of the most extraordinary speeches we have ever heard. From a statesman, scientist, and a poet, this is unique. All the best to this great nation India, all the best to our cooperation between the great nation India and the European Union, all the best Mr. President."
