Study of Scriptures
Bhagavad Gita Shibira
July 5 - 25, 2023
The beauty of the Bhagavad Gita, the Crest Jewel of all Scriptures, lies in the fact that even after thousands of years since Sri Krishna imparted those profound teachings directly to Arjuna to address his doubts, fears and dilemmas; those same teachings, conveyed in 18 chapters, are still relevant in this modern age.
![]()
In conjunction with Guru Purnima and Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai's 44th Birthday Celebrations, the 20-day Bhagavad Gita Shibira (Shelter or Camp) was organized by the students and staff of the Vedic Studies Department of the Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam Group of Institutions at Sathya Sai Grama.
Every morning, the verses from one chapter were chanted by everyone attending the Camp along with a study of the meaning of each verse; followed by Gita Sara Sarita - a daily discourse and Q&A session on the same chapter, in the evening. Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai beautifully guided everyone on how to practice these teachings while keeping in mind the essence of these teachings.

A Light for Ukraine
![]()
The war in Ukraine has affected the life of each Ukrainian child. Some kids have lost their favorite schools, beloved pets or friends, others no longer have their cozy homes, but the children who suffered the most are undoubtedly those who lost their parents.
Such a cruel trauma just smashes the child's peaceful and happy world into pieces. It will probably take years to heal the pain in a sensitive and vulnerable child's heart, if it will at all. Over the last year, there have been many children whose fathers and mothers perished heroically defending Ukraine on the battlefield.
Both mother and father of a tender 8-year-old girl Maria, defended the city of Mariupol and perished. Before evacuation Maria, along with her grandmother and cousin, stayed for several months in an underground dungeon of Azovstal plant.
![]()
The "Heart to Heart" team of volunteers strive to fill each child's pained soul with love and to bring back to the children's faces smiles and joy of their childhood that has been stolen from them.
A Light for Ukraine Mission is very grateful to everyone whose support and kindness has helped them reach out to hundreds of stranded families.
A few grandmothers whose childhood fell on the Second World War while their old age coincides with the war in Ukraine appear to be on the brink of survival facing many problems and discomforts, starting from summer heat to countless health and household issues.

vaisnava jana to tene kahiye je pida parāyi jāne re,
para duhkhe upakāra kare to ye mana abhimāna na āne re
- kirtanam (cantando Sus glorias)
- vandanam (saludo)
- dasyam (servidumbre)
- sakhyam (amistad)
- Atma nivedanam (autoentrega)
Bhakti paso a paso
