Así habló el Señor Sai_El poder del Nombre de Dios, por Aravindb.

Hoy es el día anterior a Guru Purnima 2012. En este día, me acuerdo del primer mensaje de Swami a la humanidad -

Manasa Bhajare Guru charanam Dusthara Bhavasagara Tharanam.

Cuando la 2 ª Guerra Mundial devastó la tierra en 1940, con 14 años, en una pequeña aldea llamada Puttaparthi, cantó al mundo,"¡Oh mente! Toma refugio a los pies del Gurú (el preceptor). Esto te llevará a través del océano de la existencia mundana. "

También me viene a la mente un discurso espontáneo que Swami entrego a los niños de una manera casual. La forma podría haber sido casual, pero el mensaje es pura liberación. Son esclarecedoras las divinas palabras.


La conversación de 24 de abril 2001:

Estábamos en  vacaciones. Y, sin embargo, muchos estudiantes se habían quedado para recibir la Gracia Divina de Swami durante el verano. Swami se deslizó por el pasillo central del Trayee Brindavan (en Whitefield, Bangalore), donde todos los alumnos estaban sentados.

Swami: ¿Cuál es tu lugar? . Estudiante:  Usted.  Swami: El Vedanta es " Jhoota Vedanta (filosofía falsa). Usted habla por los labios solamente. La educación moderna es así. La educación moderna no muestra el camino hacia la realización. Sólo muestra el camino a la atracción y el espectáculo. No muestra el camino para cruzar el océano del samsara (vida mundana). No sabemos cómo se cruza y en lugar aprendemos muchas cosas inútiles. 

(Y entonces, Swami narró una historia muy interesante.) 

Había una vez un hombre de negocios educado. Él quería cruzar el poderoso río Ganges, para ir a otro lugar. Llamó a un barquero y le ordenó que le transportará a través del río. El barquero acepto con humildad. Este hombre de negocios, por el contrario, era muy arrogante en su discurso. "Oye colega perezoso! Limpia el barco y tenlo listo a tiempo para mí. " El barquero limpio el barco. Asegurándose  que el empresario este cómodo, y comenzó a atravesar el río grande. El empresario siguió hablando. Ese es el caso de la gente educada!. Ellos simplemente no pueden guardar silencio. Puesto que no había otro que el barquero en el barco, el empresario comenzó una conversación con el barquero. 

Empresario: ¿Cuál es la situación política en su pueblo? . Barquero: Yo no se. Empresario: ¿No lees los periódicos?. Barquero: Yo soy analfabeto y no se leer. Empresario: Incluso si usted no sabe leer, tiene que tener un periódico bajo el brazo, por lo menos para mostrar. ¿Entendido? . Sin periódicos, la cuarta parte de su vida es un desperdicio! (Una vez más, después de un tiempo, el empresario empieza a hablar). Empresario: Usted debe remar más rápido. Ni siquiera estamos por la mitad de camino todavía! . ¿Que ahora es? . Barquero: No sé cómo ver la hora. Empresario: ¡Ajá! Ya veo. Usted es muy tonto! . Sin embargo, incluso si usted no sabe cómo ver la hora, usted debe por lo menos tener un reloj de plástico en  la mano. Si no puede ver la hora, la mitad de su vida se desperdicia. (Unos minutos más tarde, el empresario empezó a hablar nuevamente) Empresario: Entonces, ¿qué películas se ven en su ciudad? Barquero: No sé. Yo no tengo dinero para ver películas. Empresario: Incluso si usted no visita los cines para ver películas, usted debe tener al menos un televisor en casa. Barquero: Yo no tengo dinero para eso. Empresario: Oh, Dios mío ! ¿Cómo va a recibir educación, entonces? . Si no ve la TV, las tres cuartas partes de su vida se pierde en el Ganges. El empresario continuó burlándose del barquero, sobre su "falta de educación" y analfabetismo. A medida que el llegó a la mitad del río, una tormenta repentina se presento en el lugar! . El barco empezó a moverse. Cuando la lluvia y el granizo golpeaba, los vientos aumentaron y tenia la certeza de que el barco iba a volcar. El barquero no era capaz de controlar la embarcación. Ahora preguntó:

                      

La vida es un paseo en barco por el río de la existencia mundana. El nombre divino es similar a la del conocimiento de la natación.

Barquero: ¿Sabe usted nadar?. Empresario: ¡No!.  Yo no sé nadar. Barquero: Entonces, toda tu vida está a punto de ser desperdiciada!. Diciendo esto el barquero se lanzó al río. Mientras que nadó por su seguridad, el empresario se ahogó en el río.

Mientras viajas en un río, hay que saber EETA (nadar, en Telegu). Del mismo modo, durante el viaje por el samsara, hay que saber Geeta (los matices de la Bhagavad Gita). Cada persona debe aprender a nadar. Esto se va a utilizar en algún momento u otro. Esta piscina es Daiva chintana (Pensar en el Señor). Será de gran utilidad cuando hay problemas. En cualquier momento uno puede pensar en Dios. Su pluma, papel, el reloj no le protegerá. Sólo Daiva chintana le protegerá. Si aprender a nadar, entonces usted puede viajar con seguridad en la vida. El barquero se salvó, pero no el hombre de negocios. A medida que nacen en este samsara, debemos aprender de la educación, que nos ayudará a cruzar a nado y no sólo ir por lo que consideramos como los puestos más altos en la vida. El nombre de Dios, le ayudará a llegar a las verdaderas posiciones más altas en la vida. 

Una vez el sabio Narada fue a encontrarse con el Señor Narayana.

Narayana: ¿Estás bien, Narada? . Narada: estoy bien y estoy viajando como de costumbre, a los tres mundos . Narayana : Con que pensamiento viaja usted a los tres mundos, Narada?. Narada: Señor, yo viajo solo con el pensamiento. Sigo cantando el nombre Narayana, Narayana. Pero Señor, yo no entiendo una cosa, cual es la recompensa de cantar tu nombre?. Narayana: ¡Oh Narada! . Para ello es namasmarana (canto del nombre), pero usted no sabe su sabor. Ve y pregúntale a ese cuervo sentado en el árbol.


El gran devoto, sabio Narada, se acercó al Señor Vishnu con un tema candente ...

Narada  fue al cuervo y le preguntó: "¿Cuál es la recompensa de cantar el nombre de Narayana?" . Sólo al oír esto, el cuervo cayó muerto. Narada inmediatamente corrió a Narayana. Narada: Le pregunté como usted me ha dicho. Pero inmediatamente cayó muerto!.  Es ésta la recompensa de cantar tu nombre? . Narayana: Para encontrar la verdad uno debe saber cómo utilizar su tiempo también. Narada, ve a la casa del pobre brahmán. Allí, hay una jaula, con un bello loro. Tiene un cuerpo de color verde con un pico de color rojo.  Ve y pregúntale a el loro sobre la eficacia de cantar mi nombre.

Narada fue a la cotorra y le preguntó: "¿Cuál es la recompensa de cantar el nombre de Narayana?" . Al oír esto el loro se desplomó y murió. Narada volvió a Narayana en estado de shock profundo. Narada: No me iré hasta que aprenda la verdad. ¡Oh Señor! ¿Es ésta la recompensa? .

Narayana: Uno debe ser determinado hasta que sepa la verdad. Ve a la casa del brahmán. Un becerro ha nacido ayer. Ve y pregúntale a él. Narada fue al becerro y le preguntó: "¿Cuál es la recompensa de cantar el nombre de Narayana?". El ternero levantó la cabeza, vio a Narada y cayó muerto. Narada aturdido ahora y con mucho miedo de decir el nombre Divino!, fue a Narayana nuevamente. Narada: No me iré hasta que no sepa la verdad. ¡Oh Dios! ¿Es ésta la recompensa? . Narayana : No tengas prisa. La prisa genera preocupación. Así que no tengas prisa. Se paciente. Un hijo ha nacido del rey de esta tierra, fue ayer. El rey está muy contento por que el niño ha sido proclamado por los sabios como un gran heredero. Vaya y hágale al niño la misma pregunta. Ahora, Narada tenía miedo. Pensó: "Si el niño también muere, los soldados me detendrán. También voy a morir. El reino tendrá un heredero menos! . Es ésta la recompensa "?Narayana: No se precipite. Vaya y pregúntele al niño. Narada fue donde el rey. El niño fue llevado en una cuna de oro. Narada le preguntó al rey, " Oh rey..!.  ¿Puedo hacerle al niño una pregunta " . El rey estuvo de acuerdo. Narada: ¿Cuál es la recompensa de cantar el nombre de Narayana . Al oír esto el bebé príncipe habló: ¡Oh Narada! . ¿Es esto todo lo que has aprendido? Usted canta el nombre del Señor durante 24 horas, pero no sabe su sabor o efecto. 
En primer lugar yo era un cuervo. Usted vino y me preguntó cual es la recompensa de cantar el nombre de Narayana. Al enterarme de el nombre divino, mi vida termino. Yo renuncié a mi vida. Luego nací como un loro. ¿Dónde esta el cuervo y que es un loro? . El loro se alimentaba en una jaula. Tú otra vez viniste y me hiciste la misma pregunta y deje mi cuerpo.  A continuación, nací como un becerro. Se trataba de una vida mejor. Los bharatiyas adoran a las vacas . He oído el nombre del Señor y fui liberado de nuevo, desde el cuerpo del ternero. Ahora he nacido como un príncipe. ¿Dónde esta el cuervo, la cotorra, el becerro y que es un príncipe? . 

Al cantar el nombre de Dios, vamos a estados superiores. Me he convertido en un príncipe. Esta es mi fortuna. Esta es la recompensa de cantar el nombre de Narayana. Pero nuestros muchachos siguen preguntando cuál es la recompensa de cantar "Sai Ram". Esto es porque usted no tiene fe y devoción. Por lo tanto, no reciben ninguna recompensa. 
Siguen pasando. Usted sólo tiene que seguir el ciclo marzo-septiembre-marzo. Si usted tiene fe,  amor y  devoción puede llegar a estados más elevados de la vida. Al oír el nombre de Narayana, el cuervo se convirtió en un loro, en un becerro,  y finalmente en un príncipe. Logro una una vida humana. Vea la diferencia en las vidas que ha recibido. 
Si escuchar el nombre del Señor tiene tanto poder, ¿qué pasa con el poder de pronunciar el nombre del Señor?. Por lo tanto namasmarana tiene un gran poder. 

Swami: ¿Es una buena historia?.  Estudiantes: Muy buena, Swami ...

Today is a day before Guru Poornima 2012. On this day, I am reminded of Swami's first message to humanity -

Manasa Bhajare Guru CharanamDusthara Bhavasagara Tharanam

As World War 2 ravaged the earth in 1940, a 14-year old in a tiny hamlet called Puttaparthi sang out to the world,

"Oh mind! Take refuge at the feet of the Guru (preceptor). That will take you across the ocean of worldly existence."

It also brings to mind a spontaneous discourse that Swami delivered to the boys in a casual manner. The manner might have been casual but the message is pure deliverance. Recorded below is the enlightening Divine Cascade of words.

The conversation on 24th April 2001


The vacations were in effect. And yet, many students had stayed back to receive cool showers of Divine Grace of Swami during the summer. Swami came gliding outside into the central hall of Trayee Brindavan ( at Whitefield in Bangalore) where all the students were seated.

Swami: Which is your place?

Student: You.

Swami: This Vedanta is ‘Jhoota Vedanta’ (false philosophy). You speak as a lip service alone. Modern education makes you like that. Modern education does not show the path to fulfillment. It only shows path to attraction and show. It doesn’t show the path to cross the ocean of samsara (worldy life). We don’t know how to cross it and instead learn many other useless things.

(And then, Swami narrated a very interesting story.)

Once there was an educated businessman. He wanted to cross the mighty river Ganges to go to another place. He called a boatman and ordered him to ferry him across the river. The boatman agreed with humility. This businessman, on the other hand, was very arrogant and it was seen in his speech.

“Hey lazy fellow! Clean the boat and get it ready in time for me.”

The boatman cleaned the boat. Ensuring that the businessman was comfortable, he began to ferry him across the large river. The businessman kept talking. That is the case with educated people! They just can’t keep quiet. Since there was none other but the boatman on the boat, the businessman started a conversation with the boatman.

Businessman: What is the political situation in your village?
Boatman: I didn’t know.
Businessman: Don’t you read newspapers and keep up to date?
Boatman: I am illiterate and I don’t know how to read.
Businessman: Even if you don’t know how to read, you must keep a newspaper under your arm, at least to show off. Understood? Without newspapers, quarter of your life is a waste!

(Again, after a while, the businessman starts talking)
Businessman: You must ferry faster. We are not even midway yet! What is the time now?
Boatman: I don’t know how to see time.
Businessman: Aha! I see. You are really dumb! However, even if you don’t know how to see time, you must at least tie a plastic watch on your hand. If you can’t see the time, half of your life is wasted.

(A few minutes later, the businessman starts to speak)
Businessman: So, what movies are on in your town?
Boatman: I don’t know. I don’t have money to see films.
Businessman: Even if you don’t visit theaters to see films, you must at least have a TV at home.
Boatman: I don’t have money for that.
Businessman: Oh my God! How will you get education then? If you don’t watch the TV, three-fourths of your life is wasted in the Ganges.

The businessman continued to taunt the boatman about his ‘lack of education’ and illiteracy. As the reached the middle of the river, a sudden storm brewed up! The boat started to rock. As rain and hail pelted down, the winds increased and it became certain that the boat would topple. The boatman was not able to control the boat. He now asked,

                 
Life is a boat ride across the river of worldly existence. The Divine name is akin to the knowledge of swimming.


Boatman: Do you know how to swim?
Businessman: No! That I don’t know.
Boatman: Then, your whole life is about to be wasted!

Saying thus the boatman jumped into the river. While he swam to safety, the businessman drowned in the river.

While traveling in a river, one must know how eeta (Telugu for the art of swimming). Similarly while traveling in samsara one must know Geeta (the nuances of Bhagwad Gita). Each person must learn swimming. It will come to use some time or another. This swimming is Daiva chintana (Thinking of the Lord). It will be useful whenever there is trouble. Any time one can think of God. Your pen, paper, and watch will not protect you. Only Daiva chintana will protect you. If you learn swimming, then you can travel safely in life.

The boatman was saved but not the businessman. As we are born in this samsara, we should learn the education, which will help us swim across and not only go to what we consider as higher positions in life. The name of God will help to you to reach the true higher positions in life.

Once Sage Narada went to meet Lord Narayana.

Narayana: Are you fine, Narada?
Narada: I am fine and am traveling as usual, to all the three worlds.
Narayana: With what thought do you travel the three worlds Narada?
Narada: Lord, I travel only with thoughts of you. I keep chanting the name - Narayana, Narayana. But Lord, I don’t understand one thing - what is the reward of chanting your name?

Narayana: Oh Narada! You do namasmarana (chanting of the name), but you don’t know its taste. Go and ask that crow sitting on that tree.

The great devotee, sage Narada, approached Lord Vishnu with a burning question...


Narada went to the crow and asked,
“What is the reward of chanting the name of Narayana?”
Just hearing this, the crow fell dead. Narada immediately rushed to Narayana.

Narada: I asked the crow as you said. But it immediately fell dead! Is this the reward of chanting your name?
Narayana: To find the truth one must know how to use one’s time well. Narada, go to the poor brahmin’s house. There, in a cage, is a beautiful parrot. It has a green body with a red beak, (That is what the parrot wears just like our boys wear white and white!) Go and ask it the parrot about the efficacy of the name.

Narada went to the parrot and asked,
“What is the reward of cleaning the name of Narayana?”
Hearing this the parrot immediately fell down and died. Narada went back to Narayana in deep shock.

Narada: I will not leave until I learn the truth. Oh Lord! Is this the reward?
Narayana: One must be determined until one knows the truth. Go to the brahmin’s home. A calf has been born only yesterday. Go and ask it.

Narada went to the calf and asked,
“What is the reward of chanting the name of Narayana?”
The calf raised its head, saw Narada and fell dead. Narada was now stupified and really scared of saying the Divine name any more! He went to Narayana again.

Narada: I will not leave until I learnt the truth. Oh lord! Is this the reward?
Narayana: Don’t be in a haste. Haste makes waste and waste leads to worry. So do not be in a hurry. Be patient. A son has been born to the king of this land just yesterday. The king is very happy for the child has been proclaimed by the sages as a great heir. Go and ask the child the same question.

Now, Narada was afraid. He thought,
”If the child also dies, the soldiers will arrest me. I will also die. The kingdom will become heir-less! Is this the reward”?
Narayana: Don’t be hasty. Go and ask the child.

Narada went to the king. The child was brought on a golden plate. Narada asked the king,

“Oh king! Can I ask the child a question?”
The king agreed.

Narada: What is the reward of chanting the name of Narayana?

Hearing this the baby prince spoke.

Prince: Oh Narada! Is this all that you have learnt? You chant the Lord’s name for 24 hours, but don’t know its taste or effect. First I was a crow. You came and asked me what is the reward of chanting Narayana’s name. Hearing that Divine name once, my life got fulfilled. I gave up my life. Next I was born as a parrot. Where is a crow and where is a parrot? A parrot is nourished in a cage. You again came and asked me the same question. Next, I was born as a calf. This was an even better life. Bharatiyas worship cows. I heard the Lord’s name and was liberated again from the calf’s body. Not I am born as a prince. Where is a crow, parrot, calf and where is a prince? By chanting God’s name, we go to higher states. I have become a prince. This is my fortune. This is the reward of chanting Narayana’s name.

But our boys keep asking what is the reward of chanting Sai Ram. This is because you don’t have faith and devotion. Therefore you don’t get any reward. You keep passing and failing. You just follow the March-September-March cycle. If you have faith, love and devotion you can reach higher states in life.

Hearing the name of Narayana, the crow became a parrot, calf and finally a prince. It got a human life. See the difference in the lives it got. If hearing the Lord’s name has so much power, what about the power of uttering the Lord’s name? Thereforenamasmarana has great power.
Swami: Is the story good?
Students: Very nice, Swami...
