En la tarde del 30 de enero de 1948, Bhagavan llevo a algunas personas a
el río Chitravati.
De repente, Bhagavan volvió corriendo al Mandir y cerró la puerta.
Surgió de forma intermitente, hasta 7,30 pm, cuando finalmente salió y habló unas pocas palabras a los devotos, sobre que una gran alma había muerto.
Nadie sabía exactamente lo que había sucedido, en una aldea remota como Puttaparthi, entonces no disponíamos de métodos de comunicación instantánea con el resto del mundo.
Periódicamente, Balapattabi iba a Bukkapatnam para recoger el correo.
Después de un par de días, uno de los devotos leyó en el Periódico The Hindu
que Mahatma Gandhi, el padre de la nación, había sido asesinado aproximadamente a las 5:30 pm, el 30 de enero, en Nueva Delhi.
Sucedió casi en el momento mismo en que Bhagavan se había comportado de una
manera extraña y nos había dicho que una gran alma había muerto.
Periódicamente, Balapattabi iba a Bukkapatnam para recoger el correo.
