He visto vibhuti que brota a partir de fotografías de Swami. He oído hablar de él saliendo de las cosas. Pero lo que he oído hoy de un devoto de muy alto nivel, simplemente me dejó sin aliento - el polvo vibhuti materializado espontáneamente del aire! .
Y ahora que he captado su interés profundo, permítame narrar los acontecimientos con cierto detalle. Fue la sesión de clausura del curso de verano en cultura india y espiritualidad en el auditorio Poornachandra en Prashanti Nilayam. Tuve que hacer una presentación de vídeo allí. Mientras estaba sentado, esperando mi turno, me encontré con mi maestro de escuela en sánscrito, el Sr Vedanarayan. Vedanarayan no necesita presentación para aquellos en el mundo de Sai. Swami lo convirtió en un instrumento importante en su misión de revivir el estudio védico. Sr Vedanarayan (!Cómo acertadamente ha sido nombrado desde niño! Sus padres nunca tuvieron idea que su hijo iba a cantar los Vedas delante del Señor, todos los días cuando concedía darshans. Esto va a demostrar que Swami tiene un plan maestro para cada uno de nosotros, aun cuando no hemos nacido!), relata una experiencia fantástica que tuvo el mes pasado.
Este verano, visitó muchos países de América del Sur y ha mantenido un retiro Vedico también. Algunas de las cosas que dijo acerca de esos países eran fascinantes.La mayoría de la gente de allí no saben Inglés y hablan español o portugués. Para ayudarlo y cuidarlo a el, en sus necesidades durante todo el recorrido, había un tipo alegre llamado Marcos, acompañándolo. Cuando se le preguntó, en cuanto a lo que iba a necesitar para su adoración diaria y práctica espiritual, Vedanarayan le pudio un vaso, una cuchara y un plato para hacer su culto Sandhya. Cuál sería su agradable sorpresa, cuando se le preguntó de nuevo, "¿No se utiliza un Panchapatram y Udharani para hacerlo? Pregunte por ellos. ¿Por qué pedir un vaso y una cuchara? " . Vedanarayan también dejó claro que él no querría comer huevos, porque era un vegetariano estricto. Nuevamente la respuesta fue gratamente sorprendente, "Señor, ¿ Los textos Manusmritis dicen que la carne y los huevos deben ser evitados? .
Aquellos de nosotros que están practicando los Vedas lo hacen con toda sinceridad. Ni siquiera comen cebollas y ajo. " Eso realmente me tocó. Algunos de los devotos decidieron llevar al Sr Vedanarayan a dar un paseo en lancha rápida. Todos ellos comenzaron un crucero a lo largo de uno de los afluentes del caudaloso río Amazonas. Las islas del Caribe son parte de un archipiélago enorme, que separa el mar Caribe y el Golfo de México. Hay más de 7.000 islas, islotes y arrecifes en la región. Aunque Guyana es el único país del Caribe que no es una isla, cuenta con cientos de islas cercanas. Fue a través de estas islas, que la lancha rápida se lanzó. Después de un par de horas, el grupo decidió parar para el almuerzo. Se detuvieron en una isla cercana. A pesar de que ellos iban, un grupo de unas 20 personas las acosanban con el saludo, "Sai Ram".
Ellos fueron tomados por sorpresa. No esperaban ha este grupo, ni habían sido informados por nadie de que se detendrían en esta isla. La propia parada fue una decisión que se había tomado en el barco. Sairams se intercambiaron y Vedanarayan llegó a enterarse que este grupo de 20 devotos nunca habían visto a Swami Sri Sathya Sai Baba, aunque sea una vez en su vida.
Le preguntó cómo se convirtieron en devotos . "Quiero decir, si yo he nacido en la India y Swami hubiese nacido en Guyana, alguna vez lo conoceria?", me preguntó con una sonrisa.

Cuando se enteraron que Vedanarayan era de Puttaparthi, sentían como si Swami les había visitado. (Su amor por Swami era tal que le veian en cualquiera de Puttaparthi!) .
Ellos querían que él hablara y compartiera experiencias. Todos ellos se reunieron en las inmediaciones de una zona cubierta, sin paredes que parecían abandonado.Vedanarayan se sentó en una losa de hormigón y todos los demás en sillas de plástico que fueron conseguidas a toda prisa. Habló un rato después de lo cual le pidieron que cantara los Vedas. Una vez hecho esto, ellos querían que cantara un bhajan. Comenzó el bhajan y estaba a medio, cuando sucedió!

Una señora que trabaja como empleada doméstica estaba bañada totalmente por la ducha de vibhuti. "Y esto fue vibhuti materializado de la nada delante de nuestros ojos. Nunca he visto un espectáculo semejante en mi vida. Me sorprendió en el silencio y el temor ", dijo Vedanarayan. "¿Tomaste una foto, señor?", le pregunté?. "Me siento tan mal ahora. Pero confía en mí, yo estaba demasiado excitado cuando sucedió! " Y así, no tengo ninguna foto para subir de ese episodio.
También me siento mal por no tener ninguna foto. Pero me siento aún más mal porque yo no tengo una foto de la cara Vedanarayan cuando él me narró el episodio a mí. Era un rostro como que había visto a Dios!

Cuando Sr Vedanarayan le preguntó cómo se sentía acerca de que Swami dejara su cuerpo físico, ella respondió con toda dulzura, "Es justo que dejara la estructura física. Él sólo estaba disponible para las personas en Puttaparthi y los que iban a Puttaparthi. Ahora, en su forma cósmica, Él está disponible para todos - incluso los que no pueden llegar a Puttaparthi "

Divine and Amazing Miracle - A Vibuthi Explosion in remote Guyana...
I have seen vibhuti coming out from photographs of Swami. I have heard of it coming out of things like mats and bikes. But what I heard today from a very senior devotee just took my breath away - vibhuti dust materializing spontaneously from mid-air! And now that I have captured your deep interest, let me narrate the happenings in some detail.
It was the concluding session of the summer course in Indian Culture and Spirituality at the Poornachandra auditorium in Prasanthi Nilayam. I had to make a video presentation there. As I sat, awaiting my turn, I met my school Sanskrit teacher, Vedanarayan sir. Vedanarayan sir needs no introduction to those in the Sai world. Swami made him an important instrument in His mission to revive the Vedic study. Vedanarayan sir (How aptly he has been named as a child! His parents never had an idea that their son would be chanting Vedas in front of the Lord, everyday when He granted darshans. Just goes to show that Swami has a masterplan for each and every one of us, even as we are born!) recounted a fantastic experience that he had last month.
This summer, he visited many South American countries and held a Veda retreat too. Some of the things he said about those countries were fascinating. Most of the people there do not know English and they speak either Spanish or Portuguese. To help him and take care of his needs during the tour, there was a jolly guy named Marcos with him. When asked as to what he would need for his daily worship and sadhana, Vedanarayan sir asked him to get a glass, spoon and a plate to do his Sandhya worship. Imagine his pleasant surprise when he was asked back,
“Don’t you use a Panchapatram and Udharani to do it? Ask for them. Why ask for a glass and spoon?”
Vedanarayan sir also made it clear that he would not want to have even egg for he was a strict vegetarian. Again the response was pleasantly shocking,
“ Sir, haven’t the Manusmritis said that meat and eggs should be avoided? Those of us who are practicing Vedas do it with all sincerity. We don’t even eat onions and garlic.”
That really touched me. The only thing these people knew about Vedas was that Swami loves the Vedas. That was enough for them to make sacrifices, learn all the chants and also study them in great detail! (I am myself not that acquainted with the Manusmritis!)

Going ahead with the story, the Veda retreat was followed by a short trip to Trinidad and Guyana. It was in Guyana that the jaw-dropping episode took place. Some of the devotees decided to take Vedanarayan sir for a speedboat ride.
They all got on to the speedboat and began to cruise along one of the tributaries of the mighty Amazon river. The Caribbean islands are part of a huge archipelago that separates the Caribbean sea and the Gulf of Mexico. There are more than 7000 islands, islets and reefs in the region. Though Guyana is the only Caribbean country which is not an island, it has hundreds of islands nearby. It was through these islands that the speedboat skimmed and darted.
After a couple of hours, the party decided to stop for lunch. They stopped at an island nearby. Even as they were walking along, a group of about 20 people accosted them with the greeting,
“Sairam”.

They were taken by surprise. They did not expect this group nor had they informed anyone that they would be stopping on this island. The stop itself was a decision that had been taken on the boat.
Sairams were exchanged and Vedanarayan sir came to know that this group of 20 consisted of devotees who had never seen Swami, Sri Sathya Sai Baba, even once in their lifetime. He wondered how they became devotees in the first place.
“I mean, if I am born in India and Swami were to take birth in Guyana, would I ever know him?”, he asked me with a smile.
The answer that some of them gave was stunning.
“He is God! He helps us every day.”
“He comes in my dreams and solves all my problems.”
“He sends me gifts and blessings when I need them the most.”
What was even more surprising was that none of them knew about the magnificent social service projects of Swami! They were not well-versed with either His life or His history. But this much they were convinced that Swami was their Lord and God. When they came to know that Vedanarayan sir was from Puttaparthi, they felt as if Swami had visited them. (Their love for Swami was such that they saw Him in anyone from Puttaparthi!) They wanted him to speak and share experiences.
All of them gathered under a nearby roofed area without walls which seemed abandoned. Vedanarayan sir sat on a concrete slab and all others seat on plastic chairs that were hastily procured. He spoke for a while after which they asked him to chant Vedas. Once that was done, they wanted him to sing a bhajan. He began the bhajan and was midway through it when it happened!
The session that will remain etched in the minds of everyone present there...

Behind the last row of devotees was a huge cloud of dust.
“It was as if open bags of cement had suddenly been dropped. Only that there was no sound.”
Everyone was taken aback and wondered what it was. Their wonder soon gave way to tears of joy when they saw that it was vibhuti. There seemed to have been a cloudburst of vibhuti! ONe lady who works as a maid was fully bathed in that vibhuti shower.
“And this was vibhuti materializing from thin air in front of our eyes. I have never seen such a sight in my life. I was shocked into silence and awe”, Vedanarayan sir said.
“Did you take a photo sir?”, I asked.
“I feel so bad now. But trust me, I was too excited and numbed to even think when it happened!”
And so, I have no photograph to post of that episode. I also feel bad that I have no photo. But I feel even more bad that I do not have a photo of Vedanarayan sir’s face as he narrated the episode to me. It was a face that had seen God!
To conclude, I want to quote the words of a 6 year old girl in Boston. When Vedanarayan sir asked her how she felt about Swami leaving His physical frame, she replied in all sweetness,
“It is only fair that He left the physical frame. He was available only for those at Puttaparthi and those that went to Puttaparthi. Now, in His cosmic form, He is available for all - even those that cannot get to Puttaparthi!”

“And this was vibhuti materializing from thin air in front of our eyes. I have never seen such a sight in my life. I was shocked into silence and awe”, Vedanarayan sir said.
“Did you take a photo sir?”, I asked.
“I feel so bad now. But trust me, I was too excited and numbed to even think when it happened!”
And so, I have no photograph to post of that episode. I also feel bad that I have no photo. But I feel even more bad that I do not have a photo of Vedanarayan sir’s face as he narrated the episode to me. It was a face that had seen God!
To conclude, I want to quote the words of a 6 year old girl in Boston. When Vedanarayan sir asked her how she felt about Swami leaving His physical frame, she replied in all sweetness,
“It is only fair that He left the physical frame. He was available only for those at Puttaparthi and those that went to Puttaparthi. Now, in His cosmic form, He is available for all - even those that cannot get to Puttaparthi!”
