GOAP a APCPDCL.

Press Release No. 4 – July 9, 2011
The attention of the Trustees has been drawn to certain misleading reports appearing in a section of the Press on the subject of payment of electricity charges. Given below are the correct facts regarding the same:
1. The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh had directed the Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board (APSEB) to levy Rs. 0.30/kwh towards power supply made to Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Prasanthigram in view of the free treatment given by the hospital to all its patients.
2. Subsequently the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) issued an order directing the Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company (APCPDCL) to bill in two parts:
i. A concessional tariff of Rs. 0.30/kwh payable by the Hospital and
ii. Balance payable by the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP)
3. Besides SSSIHMS, there are several other consumers to whom such concessional tariff has been allowed. They, like SSSIHMS, pay only their portion of the bill, the balance being reimbursed by GoAP to APCPDCL.
4. SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram has been paying its portion of the bill month after month till date. The reimbursement of the balance by GoAP to APCPDCL does not take place regularly. It would appear that reimbursement has not been made from December 2008 onwards.
5. Our enquiries reveal that the matter of reimbursement of the amount payable by GoAP to APCPDCL with respect to the electricity charges of the hospital (along with other consumers in whose cases the Government has been reimbursing the electricity charges) is pending with the Government.
We would request the media to issue suitable correction.
