Un grupo de devotos de Sri Lanka había venido a encontrarse con Swami. Todos ellos están trabajando en un proyecto de hospital en Sri Lanka. Swami inició el proyecto. Ya ha comenzado una clínica y guardería. Se está ejecutando durante el último año y medio. Ahora van a iniciar las instalaciones para pacientes hospitalizados, las consultas, las salas de operaciones, etc. Principalmente, se tratará de un Hospital Materno Infantil, y muchas otras cosas adicionales sucederán. Todos habían venido como un grupo para discutir con Swami y buscar Su consejo. Swami estaba hablando con todos ellos. Le preguntó a un señor mayor, un miembro de esa Fundación que estaba mirando a Penny Jayawardhana (que está en el asiento del conductor de este proyecto): "¿Cómo está esta señora?" El caballero respondió: "¡Ella es un gran apoyo para mí!", Dijo Swami:
"¡Bueno! Cada uno tiene que ser un apoyo para el otro porque así es como se ha creado el mundo. Nadie ha sido creado como autosuficiente, por lo que existe la posibilidad de que busquen el apoyo de otro y de alguien que te apoye. Crecemos como seres humanos solo cuando servimos y nos apoyamos mutuamente. ¡Nadie ha sido hecho perfecto! Y aquellos que piensan que la creación de Dios es imperfecta, hay miseria, pobreza, analfabetismo, males sociales, injusticia; hágales saber que se ha creado de esta manera para que podamos apoyarnos mutuamente, ayudarnos, servirnos mutuamente y en el proceso, todos podremos crecer ".
Observen la idea, la forma en que Swami presentó todo el concepto.
Entonces Swami dijo:
“Supongamos que hay un mundo perfecto donde no haya enfermedad, pobreza, vejez, muerte, analfabetismo, injusticia, maldad, y todos sean felices, saludables y buenos por sí mismos; en un mundo así, ¿qué podríamos hacer? ¿Cómo creceríamos como seres humanos?
Porque encontramos a alguien pobre, a alguien necesitado, a alguien enfermo; hicimos todo lo posible para ayudarlos. En el proceso de ayudar a otra persona, recibimos ayuda. Nos convertimos en mejores seres humanos. Debemos agradecer a la persona que está enferma porque su enfermedad nos ha dado la oportunidad de crecer y evolucionar como seres humanos. Su necesidad, su privación, me ha dado la oportunidad de proporcionar, lo que yo tenía para dar y en el proceso haberme desarrollado como ser humano.
Esa es la idea más amplia de la creación.
Swami continuó diciendo: “Hay perfección en toda la imperfección que vemos, porque es cuando tenemos la oportunidad de hacer algo por los demás. Y en el proceso, nos damos cuenta de nuestro verdadero Ser y nos convertimos en mejores seres humanos ".
Swami le dijo al grupo: "¡Apóyense, todos ustedes apoyan a la sociedad y Yo estoy aquí para apoyarlos a apoyar a la sociedad!"
Así que todos estamos aquí para ayudar y apoyarnos el uno al otro. Este es el eco-Sistema que Swami ha creado.
Tenemos personas trabajando en lugares lejanos, literalmente en el fondo, más allá. Allí no hay nada, ni recursos, ni agua ni electricidad. Acabamos de conseguir una tierra. Alguien deja una vida acogedora y cómoda y va a ese lugar, literalmente, trabaja bajo el sol y la lluvia, para hacer que un Campus se desarrolle, y hacer que algunos niños sean admitidos, y hacer todo lo posible para ayudar a otras personas, y en ese proceso evolucionar.
En los últimos siete años, Swami ha hecho que muchos de nosotros nos hayamos desarrollado, evolucionado y cambiado como individuos. No somos lo que éramos hace siete años. Cada día que pasa, estamos mejorando en eso.
Alguien, aparentemente como el Señor C Sreenivas, una vez me dijo: *Aunque he vivido con Swami durante 50 años, nunca me he sentido tan cerca de Swami como hoy.*
Al venir de alguien que literalmente vivía en la habitación de Swami, que dormía a Su lado de la cama, lo sirvió de manera personal, desde que tuvo 14 o 15 años de edad, hasta lo que es hoy, debe ser por algo.
¿Que ha cambiado? ¿Qué ha sucedido que lo hace sentir más cerca de Swami?
Por supuesto, podría ser la culminación de todos esos años de participación con Swami, pero más que eso, es la fructificación de ese desinterés que ha llegado a su corazón. Él dice que cuando ve a las madres entrar al hospital sosteniendo a sus bebés cerca de su pecho, con gran tristeza y decepción; cuando ve cada mañana que hay 200 o 250 pacientes alrededor del hospital tratando de obtener una consulta, porque aquí es donde su hijo puede ser curado sin costo, su corazón se derrite. Y siente el dolor de la otra persona, y al mismo tiempo, siente la alegría de la madre también cuando el niño se cura. Vienen llorando y se van sonriendo. Hay un cambio en el mar cuando van y vienen.
Un alumno que aprobó su examen de grado 10 estuvo aquí para dar una charla durante la reunión de ex-alumnos. Y dijo que si el Campus de Gulbarga no se hubiera abierto en nuestro pueblo, habría continuado siendo un jornalero como mi madre. Cuando escuchó que Sai Baba estaba comenzando una escuela en su propio pueblo, este niño se matriculó, estudió y obtuvo un 84% en las calificaciones de 10ª grado, lo que es difícil para un niño que viene de la nada.
Y ahora está tan seguro para subir a un escenario y dirigirse frente a personas mucho mayores. Esa es la transformación.
Cuando el señor Narasimha Murthy hablo después de este niño, sus ojos estaban llenos de lágrimas, su pecho estaba acongojado, su garganta estaba llena de emociones y dijo:
"Pueden imaginarse qué tipo de satisfacción siento hoy, cuando me doy cuenta de que el Campus que empezamos con mucha lucha y dificultades, nos condujo a este glorioso resultado, de que un niño recibiera más educación, más confianza, y asumiera más allá del estudio , el compromiso de que también regresará para servir a la sociedad".

A group of Sri Lankan devotees had come to meet Swami. They are all working on a hospital project in Sri Lanka. Swami initiated the project. Already a daycare clinic has started. It is running for the last one and a half years. Now they are going to start the inpatient facility, the consultations, Operation Theatres etc. It’s primarily going to be a Mother & Child Hospital and many other things will happen along with. They all had come as a group to discuss with Swami and seek His advice. Swami was talking to all of them. He asked an elderly gentleman, a member of that Foundation looking at Penny Jayawardhana (who is in the driver’s seat for this project), ‘How is this lady?’ The gentleman replied, ‘She is a big support to me!’ Swami said,
“Good! Each one has to be a support for the other because that is how the world has been created. Nobody has been created self-sufficient so that there is a possibility for you to seek support from someone and someone to support you. We grow as human beings only when we serve and support each other. Nobody has been made perfect! And those who think God’s creation is imperfect, there is misery, poverty, illiteracy, social evils, injustice; let them know it has been created this way so that there are opportunities for us to support each other, help each other, serve each other and in the process we all can grow.”
Look at the idea, the way Swami presented the whole concept.
Then Swami said,
“Suppose there was a perfect world where there was no sickness, poverty, old-age, no death, no illiteracy, no injustice, no evil, and all were happy, healthy and good by themselves; in such a world what would you be doing? How would you grow as a human being?”
Because we found somebody poor, somebody in need, someone sick; we went out of our way to help them. In the process of helping the person, we got helped. We became better human beings. We must thank the person who is sick because his sickness has given us an opportunity to grow and evolve as human beings. Your need, your deprivation has given me an opportunity to provide that which I had a little more and in the process I have developed as a human being. That is the larger idea of the creation. Swami went on to say, “There is perfection in all the imperfection that we see because that is when we get an opportunity to do something for each other. And in the process, we realize our true selves, and we become better human beings.”
Swami told the group, “Do support each other, all of you support the society and I am here to support you to support the society!”
So we are all here to help and support each other. This is the eco-system that Swami has created.
We have people working in far off places, literally in the back of beyond. There is nothing over there, no resources, no water or electricity. We have just got a land. Somebody gives up a cozy and cushy life and goes all the way, literally works under the sun and rain to make a campus happen, make a few children get admitted and do whatever is possible in our might to help another person and in the process we evolve. In the last seven years, Swami has made so much happen through so many of us that we all have developed, evolved, changed as individuals. We are not what we were even seven years ago. Every single passing day, we are getting better at it.
Somebody as seemingly as C Sreenivas Sir once told me. Though I have lived with Swami for 50 years, I have never felt so close to Swami as I feel today. Coming from somebody who literally lived in Swami’s room, who slept by His bed side, served Him in personal ways since he was a 14 or 15 year old teenager till what he is today, it must be something. What has changed? What has happened that makes him feel closer to Swami? Of course, it could be the culmination of all those years of involvement with Swami but more than that it’s the fruition of that selflessness that has come in his heart. He says when he sees mothers walk into the hospital holding their babies close to their chest, with great sadness and disappointment; when he sees every morning that there are 200 or 250 patients surrounding the hospital just trying to get an entry because this is where their child can be healed at no cost, his heart melts. And he feels the pain of the other person and at the same time he feels the joy of the mother too when the child is healed. They come crying and go smiling. There is a sea change when they come and go.
An alumnus who cleared his 10th class exam was here to give a talk during the alumni meet. And he said, if the Gulbarga campus was not opened right in our village, I would have continued to be a day laborer like my mother. When he heard Sai Baba is starting a school right in their backyard, this boy got enrolled, studied and got 84% in 10th class which is difficult for a child coming from nowhere. And he is now so confident that he can get on to the stage and give a talk in front of much older people. That is the transformation. When Narasimha Murthy Sir was speaking after this boy, his eyes were full of tears, his chest was heavy, throat was choked with emotions, and he said, ‘ you can imagine what kind of fulfillment I feel today when I realize that the campus that we started with much struggle and hardship then has lead to this glorious result of one boy getting more education, more confidence and going out and studying further there with a commitment that he will also come back to serve the society.’
