La verdadera esencia de Dios no puede ser expresada.

En una entrevista a los traductores globales del equipo Uvacha el 24 de noviembre de 2016; uno de los traductores solicita orientación sobre el Evangelio cristiano de Juan.

Y esto es lo que dijo Swami:

Pregunta: Estamos tratando de convertir el mensaje de un idioma a otro. Me criaron como cristiano y vivo en un lugar donde viven predominantemente cristianos. Ahora, tenemos una buena oportunidad de escuchar el mensaje directamente de Ti. Las escrituras del cristianismo también han sido traducidas de un idioma a otro, al siguiente, y al siguiente. En el Evangelio de Juan, el primer proverbio es: 'En el principio era el Verbo, y el Verbo era con Dios, y la Palabra era Dios.' Siempre me he preguntado lo que realmente significa. Tengo la sospecha de que hay un problema de traducción y que su verdadero significado es 'Om'. Me gustaría preguntar si Tu podrías, por favor, explicarlo.

Swami: Es como un ama de casa preparando una receta - se puede leer una receta de un libro, pero ella tendrá su propio gusto por ciertas cosas. Una persona puede recibir más de especias, otro puede gustar de un poco más de sal, otro puede gustar de la comida sosa. Aunque la receta impresa es la misma, cuando diferentes personas la preparan, le van a hacer cambios de acuerdo a sus propios puntos de vista y preferencias. Todo el mundo interpreta la verdad sujeta a su propia comprensión y un poco de su propio ego ha entrado en ella, al igual que la receta, que se sirve sosa en una casa y picante en otra. Esas adiciones y supresiones se produjeron debido a la propia percepción de las personas, deseos y expectativas de lo que estaban haciendo.

Es por eso que le estoy diciendo que usted tiene que ser puro. No puede permitir que su mente y el ruido de la mente interfieran e interpreten la forma de pensar, o de la forma en que quiere que sea. El mensaje tiene que ser enviado segun su verdadera esencia, tal como es.

Al mismo tiempo, la verdad puede ser una, pero narradores puede decirla de diferentes maneras. Cuando un narrador griego quiere transmitir la verdad, escoge el lenguaje, las palabras, las historias, de acuerdo a su propia cultura; los británicos eligen a su manera; la gente de la India elige a su manera. A pesar de que utilizan diferentes nombres, deben transmitir  lo mismo. En India pueden usar la palabra 'roti', un occidental puede llamarlo 'pan', pero es la misma cosa. Una vez que lo comen, se dan cuenta que es lo mismo. Pueden ser más gruesos o más finos, pero ambos están hechos de la misma harina.

La verdadera esencia de Dios no puede ser expresada. La expresión ya ha echado a perder la pureza de la existencia de Dios, pero, lo más cercano que se puede llegar a Dios, para aquellos que no pueden experimentarlo, es a través de alguna forma de expresión. La expresión más cercana a la experiencia es imprescindible. Todos los escritores tuvieron sus propias experiencias, a su manera, antes de escribirlas por el bien de los demás. Sin embargo, debido a que las personas tienen mentes y personalidades propias, eso interfiere para dejar pasar el mensaje. Por lo tanto, un poco de "usted" se mete en la esencia de todo lo que digo. Por eso es más importante para los traductores hacer sadhana, para asegurarse de que ni su propia interpretación, ni su comprensión, ni su intelecto interfieran en la el mensaje. Deben permitir que se difunda, tal como está. ¿Entonces, qué deberían hacer? ¿Deberían descartar a aquellos que ya han hecho trabajo en el pasado? No es verdad. Lo han hecho a su manera. Tómalo y hazlo tuyo, experimentándolo, y entonces sabrás de qué se trata.

Alguien, hizo un punto, 'Si vas por este camino, llegarás a Anandam. Anandam está en la cima de una colina. Hay un edificio donde reside Swami. "Estos dichos y libros son como punteros, apuntando hacia la verdad, pero, uno tiene que caminar cuesta arriba y sentarse allí para saber dónde y qué es. De esa manera, todas las expresiones apuntan hacia la experiencia que uno debe tener en última instancia. Una vez que tenga la experiencia, sabrá sus beneficios. Una vez que hayas comido algo dulce, sabrás que es dulce, dulce y dulce; esto es amarillo, esto es naranja, esto es rojo, esto es verde; cuando lo experimentes, lo sabrás. Entonces, todos los filósofos, sabios y devotos del pasado han escrito de la manera que les gustaba, hasta cierto punto. Sin embargo, cuando experimentes lo que han escrito, sabrás que todo es igual.

Como traductores, no puedes darles experiencia a los demás; cada persona lo debe hacer por sí misma. No puedes comer para otros, pero puedes darles comida; ellos tienen que comerla.  La comida debe prepararse de acuerdo con la receta dada. No agregue especias o sal para satisfacer sus propios gustos y aversiones. Si lo hacen de esa manera, han hecho un buen trabajo.

In an interview to the global translators of Uvacha team on 24 November 2016; one of the translators seeks guidance on the Christian Gospel of John.

And here is what Swami said:

Question: We are trying to convert the message from one language to another. I was brought up a Christian and live in a place where predominantly Christians live. Now, we have a good chance to hear the message directly from You. The scriptures of Christianity have also been translated from one language to another, to the next, to the next. In the Gospel of John, the first proverb is, ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.’ I have always wondered what it really means. I have a suspicion there is a problem of translation and that its true meaning is ‘Om’. I would like to ask if You could, please, explain it.

Swami: It is like a housewife preparing a recipe – she may read a recipe from a book, but she will have her own liking for certain things. One person may like more spice, another may like a little more salt, yet another may like the food to be bland. Although the printed recipe is the same, when different people prepare it, they will make changes according to their own perspectives and preferences. Everybody interprets the truth subject to their own understanding and a little bit of their own ego has come into it, just like the recipe, being served bland in one house and spicy in another. Those additions and deletions occurred because of peoples’ own understanding, wants and expectations of what they were doing.

That is why I am telling you that you have to be pure. You cannot afford to let your mind and the noise of the mind interfere and interpret in the way you think, or the way you want it to be. The message has to be passed on in its truest essence, as it is.

At the same time, the truth may be one, but storytellers may tell it in different ways. When a Greek storyteller wanted to convey the truth, he chose the language, the words, the stories according to his own people’s culture; the British chose in their own way; the people of India chose in their own way. Though they use different names, it is the same. India may use the word ‘roti’, a Westerner may call it ‘bread’, but it is the same thing. Once you eat it, you know that it is the same. One looks thicker and one looks thinner, but both are made of the same flour.

The true essence of God cannot be expressed. Expression has already spoilt the purity of God’s existence – but, the closest one can reach God, for those who cannot experience it, is through some form of expression. Expression closest to the experience is a must. The writers all had their own experiences, in their own way, before they wrote it down for the sake of others. However, because people have minds and their own personalities, that does interfere in letting the message pass through. Therefore, a little of ‘you’ gets into the essence of all that I speak. That is why it is all the more important for translators to do sadhana and ensure that neither their own interpretation, nor their understanding, nor their intellect should interfere. You should allow it to pass on, as it is. So, what should you do? Should you discard those who have already done work in the past? Not true. They have done it their way. Take it and make it yours, by experiencing it, and then you will know what it is.

Somebody made a point, ‘If you go this way, you will reach Anandam. Anandam is at the top of a hill. There is a building where Swami resides.’ These sayings and books are like pointers, pointing towards the truth – but, one has to walk up the hill and sit there to know where and what it is. In that way, the expressions all point towards the experience that one must ultimately have. Once you have the experience, you will know its benefits. Once you have eaten something sweet, you will know that this is sweet, this is sweet and that is also sweet; this is yellow, this is orange, this is red, this is green; when you experience it, you will know it. So, all the philosophers, sages and devotees of the past have all written in the way they liked, to an extent. However, when you experience what they have written, you will know that everything is the same.

As translators, you cannot give experience to the others; it is for a person to do it themselves. You cannot eat for others, but you can give them food; they have to eat. Food has to be prepared in accordance with the recipe given. Do not add spice or salt to suit your own likes and dislikes. If you do it in that manner, you have done a good job.
