En un satsang que tuvo lugar en la presencia divina en el California, EE.UU., el 19 de junio de 2016, un devoto preguntó cómo purificar el corazón.

Y esto es lo que dijo Swami:

Pregunta: Swami, ¿cómo puedo purificar mi corazón?

Swami: El corazón es siempre puro. Está cubierta por el polvo, el óxido del ego, y el apego - las únicas dos cosas que contaminan el corazón. Es como un espejo cubierto de polvo y de moho; no se puede ver su reflejo en él. Del mismo modo, una vez que usted lo limpia, será puro. El camino es el amor y el servicio. Siempre recomiendo el agua del amor y el jabón de servicio. Utilizar ambos para limpiar su corazón. Cuanto más  sirve, cuanto más amor,  más puro se vuelve.

Le pregunté a Cornsweet esta mañana: "¿Por quién, haces lo que sea que haces?" Lo haces por tu propia purificación interna. No es por el bien de los demás; no es para construir instituciones u organizaciones. Es por tu propia transformación interior que debes hacer las cosas. Question: Swami, how can I purify my heart?

Swami: The heart is always pure. It is covered by the dust and rust of ego and attachment – the only two things that pollute your heart. It is just like a mirror covered with dust and rust; you cannot see your reflection in it. Similarly, once you clean it, it will be pure. The way is love and service. I always recommend the water of love and the soap of service. Use both of these to clean up your heart. The more you serve, the more you love, the more pure you become.

I asked Cornsweet this morning, “For whose sake do you do whatever you do?” You do it for your own inner purification. It is not for the sake of others; it is not for building institutions or organisations. It is for your own inner transformation that you must do things. “Love All, Serve All,” is what I have been teaching, and there is no shorter way of achieving what you want to achieve.

(Referring to His entourage) If you ask them, they will tell you that by serving and loving others, they have all been benefited more than the people whom they have tried to benefit. They have become better individuals; kinder and more compassionate. That is the way. Love and service will clean up all ego and attachments from your heart. It will shine again in its purest, pristine form.

This practice has to be done daily. You wake up in the morning and bathe. Why? You want to keep your body clean and healthy. Likewise, you must perform acts of love and service every day to keep your heart clean. In the course of the day, dust falls on you, your body sweats and becomes dirty. So, the next day, you take a bath and then start your day. The same way, every day, due to interactions with people of all kinds, a little dust and rust gather on your heart, too. Therefore, every day, you must use the soap and water of love and service, to clean it up, so that your heart is pure and clean. Don’t wait until you grow old because, by that time, the dirt might be so thick that you may not even be able to see where your heart is!
