En un satsang que tuvo lugar en la presencia divina en California, EE.UU., el 19 de junio de 2016, un devoto preguntó cómo hacer frente a todos los retos y expectativas de otros, y si uno debe desarrollar temor a Dios.

Y esto es lo que dijo Swami:

Pregunta: Swami, trato de ser un individuo compasivo. Trato de llevar una vida de amor y servicio, sin embargo, muchas veces se me dice, “Usted no está haciendo un buen trabajo.” Swami, no soy vegetariano. Lo he intentado, pero no funciona para mí. Tengo un montón de malas miradas e incluso malos pensamientos de la gente, incluso de los devotos de Sai! También me dijeron que debería tener miedo a Dios, porque no soy un devoto de Sai Baba.

Swami: ¿Quién te enseñó todo eso? (Risas) El temor a Dios es impartido por personas que no han entendido a Dios. Daiva preethi, beethi papá, neethi sanga (Amor por Dios, temor al pecado y moralidad en la sociedad) - este es el camino. El temor a Dios y el amor por el pecado, no dará lugar a la moral; dará lugar a la mortalidad.

Sin embargo, usted es su propio juez; ya que se conoce mejor. Usted mismo sabe si su hambre será satisfecha por comer un poco o comer mucho. Otras personas no pueden saber lo que debe ser servido a usted, para satisfacer su hambre.

Lo que las personas dicen o no dicen, es la segunda parte de su pregunta. En primer lugar, hay que entender por sí mismo lo que hay que hacer para ser un buen ser humano.

Quien es un devoto de Sai Baba? 'Devoto' no es un título que puede reclamar para sí mismo. Sólo Dios puede decirle que usted es un devoto, y si no lo hace, no se puede decir que lo es.

¿Dónde está el Dios que te lo dice? Él está dentro de ti. Desde dentro, Él te dirá. Cuando usted habla la verdad, tu corazón te dice que has dicho la verdad. Cuando usted mientes, tu corazón te dice que estás mintiendo.

Nadie más puede decir si lo que está haciendo es correcto o incorrecto. Por lo tanto, olvídate de lo que otros dicen! 
Piensa en lo que dice tu corazón, ya que es lo que estoy enseñando. ¿Cuánto tiempo vas a vivir en base a lo que otros dicen? Es una vida artificial. Usted está constantemente haciéndose pasar por otro, sólo para complacer a otros, o simplemente para estar en su consideración.

Primero pregúntate: “¿Cuál es mi opinión acerca de mí mismo? ¿Puedo mirarme en un espejo y decir que yo soy bueno?”Si es así, no es necesario la confirmación de ninguna otra persona, porque Dios dentro de usted le está diciendo, si está bien o mal.

Narasimha Murthy acaba de hablar sobre el momento en que Jesús estaba predicando. Había gente poderosa que dijo: “Usted no está enseñando correctamente. Usted es una blasfemia! Está guiando mal a la gente!”¿Jesús se preocupo? El sabía en su corazón que estaba haciendo lo correcto. Si algo está bien, aunque un millar de personas vengan y digan que es erróneo, no va a convertirse en malo . Si algo está mal, incluso si miles vienen y dicen que es correcto, no va a convertirse malo.

Cuando usted es bueno, todo a su alrededor, todo el mundo que te rodea también será bueno. Los verás con esa visión de bondad que se desarrollará desde el interior. Por lo tanto, no vaya por lo que otros dicen o piensan.

La espiritualidad es un viaje individual. Usted debe investigar sobre sí mismo, para descubrir lo que eres, lo que eres y cómo eres. Usted debe hacer todo lo necesario para convertirse en la persona que va a agradar a Dios en su interior. 
Si quiere satisfacer a todos. Si trata de complacer a todos, no se puede agradar a Dios. Pide a Dios que está dentro y Él te guiará en la manera de ser, y no se preocupe por otras personas. (Aplausos)

Fear of God and love for Sin will not lead to morality; it will lead to mortality.

In a satsang held in the divine presence at California, USA, on 19 June, 2016, a devotee asked how to cope with all the challenges and others expectation, and should one develop fear for God.

And here is what Swami said:

Question: Swami, I try to be a kind and compassionate individual. I try to lead a life of love and service, yet many times I am told, “You are not doing a good job.” Swami, I am not a vegetarian. I have tried, but it doesn’t work for me. I get a lot of bad looks and even bad thoughts from people, even Sai devotees! I am also told that I should be fearful of You because I am not a Sai Baba devotee.

Swami: Who taught you all that? (Laughter) Fear of God is taught by people who have not understood God. Daiva preethi, papa beethi, sanga neethi (love for God, fear of sin and morality in society) – this is the way. Fear of God and love for Sin will not lead to morality; it will lead to mortality.

However, you are your own judge; you know yourself best. You yourself know if your hunger will be satisfied by eating a little or eating a lot. Other people cannot know what should be served to you, to satisfy your hunger.

What people say or don’t say is the second part of your question. First, you must understand for yourself what you need to do to be a good human being.

Who is a devotee of Sai Baba? ‘Devotee’ is not a title you can claim for yourself. God alone must tell you that you are a devotee and, unless He does so, you cannot call yourself one.

Where is the God who tells you? He is within you. From within, He will tell you. When you speak the truth, your heart tells you that you have spoken the truth. When you lie, your heart tells you that you are lying.

No one else can tell you whether what you are doing is right or wrong. So, forget what others are saying! Think of what your heart says, as that is what I am teaching. How long are you going to live based on what others say? It is an artificial life. You are constantly pretending to be somebody just to please others or just to be in their good books.

First ask yourself, “What is my opinion about myself? Can I look in a mirror and say that I am good?” If yes, you do not need anybody else’s confirmation, because God within you is telling you whether you are right or wrong.

Narasimha Murthy just spoke about the time when Jesus was preaching. There were powerful people who said, “You are not teaching correctly. You are blasphemous! You are misleading the people!” Did Jesus worry about it? He knew in His heart that He was doing the right thing. If something is right, even if a thousand people come and say it is wrong, it will not become wrong. If something is wrong, even if thousands come and say it is right, it will not become right.

When you are good, everything around you, everyone around you will also be good. You will see them in that vision of goodness that you will develop from within. Therefore, do not go by what others say or think.

Spirituality is an individual journey. You must take it upon yourself to find out what you are, who you are and how you are. You must do whatever it takes to become the person that will please God within. If you please God, you will please everyone. If you try to please everyone, you may not please God. Ask God who is within and He will guide you how to be, and don’t worry about other people. (Applause)
