Comunicado de prensa por Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.

Informe sobre los casos de diarrea en Prashanti Nilayam:

En las dos últimas semanas, varios pacientes fueron ingresados en el  Hospital General (SSSGH) con diarrea. El cultivo y el análisis de las heces, reveló la cepa del " cólera". 
Un total de 22 casos han sido admitidos, la mayoría de los casos eran de los que viajan desde Odisha (8 casos), UP (6 casos) y los casos esporádicos de Bengala, Kerala y del pueblo de Puttaparthi.


Tan pronto como el primer caso se confirmó como cólera, que es una enfermedad de declaración obligatoria, el Oficial medico se comunico con la APS  Yenumulapalli , así como DMHO, Anantapur.
Además de dar atención médica integral a los pacientes ingresados, el SSSGH también se ha comprometido a dar doxiciclina a todos los contactos posibles y devotos en el ashram. Ademas de la cloración óptima de todas las fuentes de agua en el ashram.


Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust (SSSCT) también alertó inmediatamente, a todos los encargados de los comedores y todos los residentes en Prashanti Nilayam y todos los directores de los albergues de las Instituciones Educativas Sri Sathya Sai  en Puttaparthi, acerca de la incidencias del cólera inmediatamente después del primer informe de casos de cólera el 22 de mayo de 2012.


El responsable del alojamiento y los gerentes de la cantina de inmediato dispusieron la aplicación de las sugerencias del Director, SSSIHMS (Super hospital) , de la siguiente manera:


1. Mantenimiento de la higiene de las manos, alimentos y agua.
2. Hervir y filtrar el agua de bebida.
3. Limpiar las áreas de cocina y comedor, con soluciones antisépticas.


No hay ninguna indicio en el informe de que la incidencia del cólera es debido a comer de los alimentos en los comedores de Prashanti Nilayam. La enfermedad es aparentemente traida por personas que visitan Prashanti Nilayam.


La incidencia de la enfermedad ha bajado considerablemente en los últimos dos días. Hasta la fecha 22 pacientes recibieron tratamiento y 16 pacientes fueron dados de alta en una condición saludable. Actualmente 8  personas están bajo tratamiento en el hospital. Los resultados del tratamiento son completamente satisfactorios y no ha habido mortalidad en absoluto.


El DMHO ha visitado el Hospital y también se reunió con el Secretario, SSSCT el 04/06/2012, y ha expresado su satisfacción por las medidas médicas y preventivas contra el cólera que se están aplicando.

Report on Diarrhea cases at Prasanthi Nilayam:

In the last two weeks, several patients were admitted to Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital (SSSGH) with diarrhea. Culture and sensitivity of the stool revealed “Vibro cholera eltor” strain. A total number of 22 cases have been admitted, the majority of cases were from those traveling from Odisha (8 cases), UP (6 cases) and sporadic cases from Bengal, Kerala and Puttaparthi village.


As soon as the first case was confirmed to be cholera, which is a notifiable disease, the Yenumulapalli PHC Medical Officer as well as DMHO, Anantapur were notified.
Besides giving comprehensive medical care to the admitted patients, the SSSGH has also undertaken to give Doxycycline to all the possible contacts and devotees in the Ashram. Optimum chlorination of all water sources within the ashram has also been done.


Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust (SSSCT) also alerted all the canteen managers and all the residents in Prasanthi Nilayam and all the wardens of the Hostels of Sri Sathya Sai Educational institutions at Puttaparthi about the incidence of cholera immediately after the reported first cholera case on 22nd May 2012.


The accommodation officer and the managers of the canteen immediately arranged for implementing the suggestions of Director, SSSIHMS (Super hospital) as follows:


1. Maintenance of hand, food and water hygiene.
2. Boiling and filtering the drinking water.
3. Cooking and dining areas cleaned with antiseptic solutions


There is no basis for the report that the incidence of cholera is due to eating of food in the canteens of Prasanthi Nilayam. The disease is apparently carried by people visiting Prasanthi Nilayam.


The incidence of the disease has significantly come down over the past two days. Till date 22 patients received treatment and 16 patients were discharged in a healthy condition. Currently 8 number of people are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The treatment outcomes are completely satisfactory and there has been no mortality at all.


The DMHO has visited the Hospital and also met the Secretary, SSSCT on 04/06/2012, and has expressed his satisfaction over the medical and preventive measures against cholera being implemented.
