Pregunta: Cómo le ocurrió la iluminación a Swami Vivekananda?
Respuespuesta: Como dije, ¡solo por la gracia de Guru! El único incidente que conozco de Swami Vivekananda fue cuando Sri Ramakrishna le concedió darse cuenta de Brahman. No veo esa descripción más adelante en su vida. Más tarde, su vida fue más de servicio, predicación, y viajes. Pero no creo que él estuviera siempre inmerso en ese Atma Bhava. Él sabía lo que era Atma Bhava. Él lo había experimentado.
Una vez Swami me dijo, cuando le pregunté, ¿por qué no me daba Brahma Jnana? Es tan fácil para ti. Si decides que debería tener Brahma Jnana, en un segundo podría venir a mí.
Él dijo, que no es el momento. ¡Tenemos mucho trabajo por hacer! Para hacer eso, Deha Bhavam (cuerpo y mente) es importante. Para hacer este trabajo, ¡tienes que usar tu cuerpo y tu mente!
A su momento, llegará.
Si pasa una corriente de alta tensión a través de un cable de baja capacidad, quemará el cable. Así que estoy aumentando tu capacidad para recibir ese Jnana que finalmente debería venir a ti. Pero Chitta Shuddi (pureza de mente), todo el proceso de hacerte puro y desinteresado, es hacerte elegible para recibir este Brahma Jnana.
Entonces, para Vivekananda, hasta donde yo sé, no hay ninguna descripción en ninguna parte, donde él mismo meditó y la recibió. La única descripción que conozco es cuando su Gurú le otorgó esa gracia.
Por supuesto, después de eso, habría revisado muchas veces esa experiencia vivida en esos momentos. Pero en verdad para él, la lámpara fue iluminada solo por Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. No fue por mero esfuerzo propio que la haya alcanzado.
El mismo caso ocurre con Paramahamsa Yogananda también. Su Guru Yukteswar Ji vivía en algún ashram en Bengala.
El Gurú estaba limpiando el piso y le dio la escoba a el joven Yogananda para barrer. Yogananda se preguntaba, si el había venido aquí para aprender algunas cosas espirituales increíbles, porque le estaba dado una escoba para limpiar.
Sri Yukteswar Giri simplemente lo toca y Yogananda entra en un estado elevado de samadhi.
Entonces, esto es posible solo para un Guru. ¡Él puede patearte en el pecho o golpearte con una escoba y puede darte Brahma Jnana!
Mientras que tu puedes luchar durante siglos y puede que no te llegue. Un Gurú puede hacerlo más rápido para nosotros. De lo contrario, podemos seguir y seguir por muchos nacimientos, si seguimos la forma habitual.
En Matemáticas, hay trucos para resolver un rompecabezas. A veces, en solo tres pasos, puedes resolverlo. Si vas de la manera habitual, ¡puede tomar diez pasos!
Eso es lo que Swami está haciendo por nosotros.
Si se trata de Swami Vivekananda, Paramahamsa Yogananda, Adi Shankaracharya; les ha llegado con la gracia de un Guru. Pusieron un poco de esfuerzo. Pero el esfuerzo no fue nada comparado con la proporción de la gracia que recibieron debido a su sinceridad.
Swami dice, da un paso hacia Mí, y daré cien pasos hacia ti.
Así es como todos ellos han recibido y logrado lo que han logrado.

“A Guru may kick you on the chest or hit you with a broom and can give you Brahma Jnana! Whereas you may struggle for ages and it might not come to you.”
Question: How did Enlightenment happen to Swami Vivekananda?
Ans: As I said, by Guru’s grace only! The only incident I know of Swami Vivekananda realizing the Brahman was when Sri Ramakrishna granted Him. I don’t see that description later in his life. Later on, his life was more of service, preaching, traveling. But I don’t think he was always constantly immersed in that Atma Bhava. He knew what Atma Bhava was. He had experienced it.
Once Swami told me when I asked Him, why don’t you give me Brahma Jnana? It is so easy for You. If you decide that I should have Brahma Jnana, in a second it can come to me. He said it’s not now. We have lot of work to do! To do that, Deha Bhavam is important. To do this work, you have to use your body and mind! Therefore, it will come. If you pass a high voltage current through a low capacity wire, it will burn the wire. So I am increasing your capacity to receive that Jnana which ultimately should come to you. But Chitta Shuddi, the whole process of making you pure and selfless, is to make you eligible to receive this Brahma Jnana. So, for Vivekananda, as far as I know there is no description anywhere where he himself meditated and received it. The only description I know of is when his Guru granted him. Of course, after that he would have many times revisited that experience and lived in those moments. But truly for him, the lamp was lit by Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa only. It is not by mere self-effort that he attained it.
The same case with Paramahamsa Yogananda also. His Guru Yukteswar Ji was living in some ashram in Bengal. Guru was cleaning the floor and gave the broom to a young Yogananda to sweep. Yogananda wondered that he came here to learn some amazing spiritual things and He is being given the broom to clean. Sri Yukteswar Giri merely touches him and Yogananda goes into an elevated state of samadhi. So, this is possible for a Guru alone. He may kick you on the chest or hit you with a broom and can give you Brahma Jnana! Whereas you may struggle for ages and it might not come to you. A Guru can make it faster for us. Otherwise, we can go on and on for births, if we go through the regular way. In Mathematics, there are tricks to solve a puzzle. Sometimes in just three steps you can solve it. If you go the regular way, it may take ten steps! That is what Swami is doing for us. Whether it is Swami Vivekananda, Paramahamsa Yogananda, Adi Shankaracharya; it has come to them with the grace of a Guru. They did put some effort. But the effort was nothing compared to the proportion of grace that they received because of their sincerity. Swami says, take one step towards Me, and I will take a hundred steps towards you. That is how they all have received and attained what they have attained.
