Hasta Dios, al venir a esta tierra y tomar sobre sí una vida humana, sigue todas las reglas.

En un satsang que tuvo lugar en la presencia divina en el Singapur, el 8 de agosto de 2017. Un devoto preguntó ¿por qué Rama hacer penitencia después de matar a Ravana. 

Y esto es lo que dijo Swami:

Pregunta: Swami, el Ramayana menciona que Rama hizo penitencia después de matar a Ravana. Siempre he pensado de la penitencia como para alguien que ha cometido un crimen, y es castigado, pero Rama mismo era un avatar del Señor Narayana, que mató al malvado Ravana. ¿Por qué necesitaba hacer penitencia en esta situación?

Swami: El Bhagavad Gita dice,  ‘Yad yad acharati shreshthah tat tad evetaro janah’ - Por la forma en que los hombres nobles se comportan, el mundo los sigue. Rama era purushottama maryada, el que tuvo el mayor 'maryada'. No hay significado exacto para maryada, pero puede ser pensado como la naturaleza ideal de Rama (justo y obligado por el deber). Rama tuvo que establecer este ideal frente al mundo: quien sea que dañes, ya sea demonio o alguien que te haya lastimado o dañado, aunque sea por mantener el dharma, entonces todavía se considera como daño. Por lo tanto, uno debe expiar eso.

Más que cualquier otra cosa, como dije, Rama llegó a ser un ejemplo a seguir, para todo el mundo. Hacer daño a alguien es definitivamente papa (pecado); ayudar a los demás es punya - auspicioso y meritorio. Sólo para dar un ejemplo a seguir, para todo el mundo, Rama hizo penitencia.

Incluso Dios, al venir a esta Tierra y tomar una vida humana, sigue todas las reglas del mundo físico o de cualquier mundo, para ayudar a los demás y no dañar a nadie. Por el bien de proteger el dharma, a pesar de que Rama había sido herido, siempre oró y lo expió para que otros lo siguieran, como el ejemplo.

In a satsang held in the divine presence at the Singapore, on 8 August 2017. A devotee asked why did Rama do penance after killing Ravana.

And here is what Swami said:

Question: Swami, the Ramayana mentions that Rama did penance after killing Ravana. I’ve always thought of penance as being for someone who has committed a crime, and was punished, but Rama Himself was an Avatar of Lord Narayana, who slayed the evil Ravana. Why did He need to do penance in this situation?

Swami: The Bhagawad Gita says, ‘Yad yad acharati shreshthah tat tad evetaro janah’ – in the way noble men conduct themselves, the world follows. Rama was maryada purushottama, the one who had the highest ‘maryada’. There’s no exact equivalent for maryada, but it can be thought of as the ideal nature of Rama (righteous and duty-bound). Rama had to set this ideal in front of the world: whomever you harm, whether demon or somebody who has hurt or harmed you, if it is for the sake of upholding dharma, then it still is considered as harm. Therefore, one must atone for that.

More than anything else, as I said, Rama came to set an example for everyone to follow. Hurting anyone is definitely papa (sin); helping others is punya – auspicious and meritorious. Just to set an example for everyone to follow, Rama did penance.

Even God, when coming to this Earth and taking upon himself a human life, follows all the rules of the physical world or of any world, to help others and not hurt anyone. For the sake of protecting dharma, even though Rama had been hurt, He always prayed and atoned for it so that others would follow Him, as the example.
