Y aquí está lo que dijo Swami:

Pregunta: Una vez, Swami, tuve la oportunidad de preguntarte sobre mi carrera, y me animaste a terminar mis estudios en medicina. Mi pregunta es, ¿debo continuar como médico? Porque estoy teniendo un momento difícil. Es difícil para mí transformar toda la negatividad que enfrento todos los días de mis pacientes.

Swami: Los pacientes van a ser negativos; Están enfermos, por lo que van a ser negativos. No puedes convertirte en un nadador sin mojarte, así que debes esperar eso, pero el amor puede dominar cualquier cosa. Pónte en su posición y piensen mientras piensan, siente como están sintiendo y el gran amor vendrá de dentro, el amor que los protegerá - y los ayudará. Si cada médico renuncia a su profesión debido a la negatividad de sus pacientes, ¿qué pasaría con los pacientes? 

Piense en ellos antes de pensar en sí mismo y conviertelo en su sadhana. Eso te purificará y te ayudará a desarrollar un amor más fuerte.

Ahora es el propósito de tu vida; Es mejor para usted, así que hágalo de esa manera. Para algunos puede ser cantar, para otros puede ser medicina, para algunos puede ser la enseñanza - diferentes personas, diferentes caminos, a la misma meta. 

El poder del amor divino está dentro de ti - úsalo! 

No seas como el poderoso elefante que está atado a una pequeña cadena, sin darse cuenta de su propia fuerza.

In a satsang held in the divine presence at Barcelona, Spain, on 24 October, 2016, a devotee seeks Swami's guidance on dealing with the negativity from his patients.

And here is what Swami said:

Question: Once, Swami, I had the opportunity to ask You about my career, and You encouraged me to finish my studies in medicine. My question is, should I continue as a doctor? Because I am having a difficult time. It is difficult for me to transform all the negativity I am facing every day from my patients.

Swami: Patients are going to be negative; they are sick, so they are going to be negative. You cannot become a swimmer without getting wet, so you have to expect that – but, love can overpower anything. Put yourself in their position and think as they are thinking, feel as they are feeling and great love will come from within, love that will protect you – and help them. If every doctor gave up their profession because of the negativity of their patients, what would happen to the patients? Think about them before thinking about yourself and make it your sadhana. That will purify you and help you develop stronger love.

It is now the purpose of your life; it is best for you, so go that way. For some it may be singing, for others it may be medicine, for some it may be teaching – different people, different paths to the same goal. The power of divine love is within you – use it! Do not be like the mighty elephant which is tied up to a small chain, unaware of its own strength.
