Foto: Story behind this photo- 73 : Swami visited this Jail, and a slum area too.

The photo you see here is the gate of Central Prison, in Thane, Near Mumbai.

The last three generations are the most blessed souls in this kaliyuga. We are brought into this world at a time when the Divine incarnation was walking on this earth, among the devotees. Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba travelled a lot so that He can be with His devotees, and also to interact with them. He gave plenty of opportunities to serve Him, and also join Him in the multi facet of seva activities.

Bhagavan rewarded the most loyal devotees, who worshipped Him, and implicitly followed his ideals and guidance. While I was living in Thane, (near Mumbai), sai devotees were conducting Bhajans once in a month in the Central jail. Though it was a hopeless task to try and bring the criminals into spiritual path, we went ahead with our own schedule of bhajan. Swami accepted our prayers , and visited to give Darshan to the criminals. Or was it so?

Later after the visit, Swami told us that He did not come to jail simply to bless the criminals alone, but mainly to bless and encourage the devotees who were doing a wonderful seva.

After few years, when I shifted to Chennai, I started living in the vicinity of a Sai Samithi, in T’Nagar. We had adopted a slum area called ‘Bharathi Nagar”. Accepting our prayers, Swami visited this slum area. Later Bhagavan told the then State President Maj. Gen. S.P. Mahadevan that Swami was pleased to visit this area, where the residents showed immense discipline, backed with devotion. Swami directed the State President to convey His blessings to all those who participate in the seva in that locality.

I am mentioning these few incidents only to show, how Bhagavan shows his appreciation on sincere and devoted seva, and goes all the way to the unexpected areas like the Jail and a dirty slum, only to encourage and bless the devoted seva dals.
Love & Regards, Mumbai Srinivasan.

"Mumbai" Srinivasan
