R.Satish Naik

An Unsung Hero From South Africa Merged With Swami
JUNE 3, 2012:
Om Sairam dearest Sai Family
Another Star from the SAI GALAXY has merged with our Lord. Uncle Sam of Shall cross, South Africa, breathed his last on Saturday 2nd June 2012 at 10 pm South African time. A simple but very sincere , soft spoken devotee was one of the unsung heroes of Sai family of South Africa. He played a key role during the construction of Sai School in Chatsworth, Durban and he also was keen on preserving the Indian culture among the Indians in South Africa. Every year he used to conduct Ganesh Chaturthi very grandly in Shall cross for which large number of devotees used to turn up.
In the year 2010 when he was here in Puttaparthi, Swami blessed him with a packet of Vibhuthi in darshan lines and little did he knew what was coming for him. After he went home, he was told that he had prostrate cancer but he never gave up. He continued his routine of helping the Sai community, playing the role of Head of the family. I personally had the great fortune to sit next to him in Sai Kulwanth hall and many a times i intentionally sat next to him as Swami always gave him so much attention and for me it was a beautiful chance to see Swami showering His love on Uncle Sam. Even after donating his kidney to his late daughter, Uncle Sam lived the life as Swami wanted and am sure he has earned the grace of Swami for his SELF LESS life that he lived during his tenure on this earth.
After Swami's Mahasamadhi, he came to Puttaparthi in June 2011 with his whole family to get his nephew married in Puttaparthi. Here is a photo of the marriage.
Brothers and sisters Please spare few seconds to leave a prayer for Uncle Sam, asking Swami to let his soul rest in peace and may Swami give strength and courage to his family during this testing time..
On a different note being Poornima, the Prasanthi Giri pradikshina had quite a few devotees. For those who don't know about this programme, this has been started recently by a group of devotees, where they assemble by Ganesh gate at 6:30PM to go around the whole Prasanthi campus from the Ganesh circle, Petrol station, Hanuman temple and end the Pradakshina at Ganesh gate on every full moon night. The total distance that is covered is around 7kms.
WHY THIS PRADIKSHINA
Even though this programme is not endorsed by Swami's Trust nor did Swami ever ask to do this, there exists deeper significance in
The practice of circumbulation which in Sanskrit is called Pradakshina. Why do we do Pradakshina? We cannot draw a circle without a centre point. The Lord is the centre, source and essence of our lives. Recognising Him as the focal point in our lives, we go about our daily chores. This is the significance of the Pradakshina. Also, every point on the circumference of a circle is equi-distant from the centre. This means that whoever we may be, we are equally close to the Lord. His grace flows towards us without any partiality.
Why is this Pradikshina done only in a closewise manner? The reason is not, as someone said, to avoid a traffic jam!! As we do Pradikshina, the Lord is always on our right. In India, the right side symbolises auspiciousness, it is a telling fact even in the English language, it is called the 'right' side and not the wrong one!
So as we circumbulate the sanctum sanctorum we remind ourselves to lead an auspicious life of righteousness with the Lord who is the indispensable source of help and strength as our 'guide' - the right hand - the dharma aspect - of our lives. We thereby overcome our wrong tendencies and avoid repeating the sins which have been carried forward from our previous lives.. While in temples and also by the Ganesha we see people circumbulating around themselves. By doing so we recognise and remember the supreme divinity within us, which alone is idolised in the form of the Lord that we worship outside. To put in a simple way in Swami's own words "YOU ARE GOD, YOU ARE NOT SEPARATE FROM GOD".
SCHOOLS RE-OPENED:
Swami's institutions have re-opened on June 1st. For the past week or so, Parthi is bubbling with enthusiasm with all the students and parents thronging for darshans. The admissions for class one in Swami's primary school and also for Smt.Eswaramma School will be like last year, lucky dip system. Unofficially i was told it is 1:50 and only the fortunate ones would be selected in the lucky dip. From last year, the Indian government has banned Entrance exam system for primary school children in order to avoid mental tension among children at such a tender age thus this lucky dip has come into the picture.
With pranams at the Lotus feet of our beloved Lord,
R.Satish Naik
