Bhagavan Baba se pone de pie, sobre el "Paadha Peetam" Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba vaaru, inauguro el hermoso Sai Mandir en Madurai, el 22 de abril 1999.
El templo había sido construido por Bhagavan en el Sri Sathya Sai Nagar, cerca de TVS Nagar, por las oraciones de un gran devoto Sri Subramaniam Chettiar, el presidente fundador del Sri Sai Padhuga Trust.
Fue unos diez días más o menos, después de la desaparición física de Sri Chettiar, que Bhagavan voló a Madurai para inaugurar este maravilloso Mandir.
Swami llamó a este Mandir "Sri Sathya Sai ANANDA Nilayam".
En esta auspiciosa ocasión, Bhagavan también instalo el ídolo de Ganesha en el santuario pequeño cerca de la puerta.
Sri Srinivasan Chettiar, hijo del fallecido Chettiar Subramaniam había enviado a hacer una hermosa "Peetam", para colocar las Sri Sai Padhuga (sandalias). El Peetam está hecho de piedra de granito Negro. Una cubierta de plata se han hecho posteriormente.
El día de la inauguración de "Sri Sathya Sai Ananda Nilayam", este Peetam se le mostró a Bhagavan. A pesar de algunos inconvenientes Bhagavan Baba de pronto subió y se puso sobre este Peetam. (Ver foto adjunta).
Pensar que todos los programas habían terminado, y el fotógrafo, camarógrafo y todo el mundo había dejado Ananda Nilayam. Pero Swami parado en la Peetam, pidió a Sri Srinivasan Chettiar que tomara una foto. Busco frenéticamente y no pudo conseguir un fotógrafo.
Swami, sonriente y paciente siguió de pie en el Peetam por más de 5 minutos. En última instancia, un fotógrafo de un periódico local tomó la foto rápidamente.
Más tarde, Swami le dijo a Sri Srinivasan Chettiar, "Después de muchos años, durante las próximas generaciones, si usted dice que Sai Baba, estuvo en este Peetam, nadie podrá creer sus palabras. Por lo tanto me insistió para que tomara la foto.

Bhagavan Baba stands up, on the “Paadha Peetam”
Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba vaaru, inaugurated the beautiful Sai Mandir in Madurai, on the 22nd April 1999. The temple had been built by Bhagavan in Sri Sathya Sai Nagar, near TVS nagar, as per the prayers of a great devotee (Late) Sri Subramaniam Chettiar, founder President of Sri Sai Padhuga Trust. It was just about ten days or so, after the passing away of Sri Chettiar, that Bhagavan flew down to Madurai to inaugurate this wonderful Mandir.
Swami named this Mandir as “SRI SATHYA SAI ANANDA NILAYAM”. On this auspicious occasion, Bhagavan also installed the idol of Lord Ganesha in the small sanctum near the gate.
Sri Srinivasan Chettiar, son of Late Subramaniam Chettiar had got made a beautiful “Peetam” for keeping Sri Sai Padhuga. The Peetam is made of Black granite stone. A silver cover had also been made subsequently.

On the day of inauguration of “Sri Sathya Sai Ananda Nilayam”, this Peetam was shown to Bhagavan. In spite of some inconvenience Bhagavan Baba suddenly climbed up and stood on this Peetam. (See Photo attached). Thinking that all programmes were over, the photographer, videographer and everybody had left Ananda Nilayam. But Swami standing on the Peetam, asked Sri Srinivasan Chettiar to take a photo. Frantically searching, he could not get any photographer. Swami, smilingly and patiently continued to stand on the Peetam for more than 5 minutes. Ultimately a photographer from a local news paper was spotted and he took the photo hurriedly.
Later on, Swami told Sri Srinivasan Chettiar,
“After long years, during the next generations, if you say Sai Baba had stood on this Peetam, nobody may believe your words. Hence I insisted to take the photo. Display this photo in the Mandir”.
