Querida familia Sai:

Puttaparthi the Abode of Highest peace is buzzing with enthusiasm as the most favourite festival of Prasanthi GURUPOORNIMA is coming soon. There is so much anxiety in the air and more over the World Youth Coference is also coming up with huge expectations. There are many devotees flying into Puttaparthi especially the Youths.According to some sources, from South Africa alone about 108 youths are coming to Parthi. Swami who was concentrating more on the Youth would be very happy for such a good response.
Today a group of devotees from Maharashtra and Goa came to Parthi as part of their Dindi yatra. These devotees hailing mainly from Maharashtra and Goa alight in Dharmavaram Railway Station (45 kilometers from Parthi) and walk all the way to Parthi carrying Swami's Palaki on their shoulders singing, dancing, holding flags. This group of devotees consist of young and old, men and women and all of them come from poor families and are also mostly illiterates. The tradition of Padayatra, walking to the Divine Abode, is not new in the state of Maharashtra in particular. Many devotees walk to holy shrines like Pandaripur, Shirdi etc from their respective native places and after coming to know about Swami, these devotees have been doing this Padayatra for the past 13 years. They usually halt in a place called Basampalli in between Dharmavaram and Puttaparthi for the night and continue their journey to Puttaparthi. Yesterday, I happened to go to Dharmavaram and from the bus, when I saw this devotee group my heart was so thrilled. I almost felt like alighting the bus and joining them. In those days, when these devotees reached Parthi,, Swami used to shower so much love and blessings on them for their spirit of sacrifice and devotion. So PURE HEARTED they are that they didn't bother if Swami is present physically or not, they still want to do their Sadhana which we rarely find elsewhere. Watching them I prayed to Swami to shower His choicest blessings on these noble souls who always make Swami proud and inspire fellow devotees.
Gurupoornima has always been a much awaited festival as it is the first festival celebrated in Parthi after Swami returns from Bangalore or Kodai and also the first festival after Swami's schools and colleges re-open.
This year, Gurupoornima will be celebrated for the first time and for years to come in Swami's physical absence. The only consolation is that the Mahasamadhi will be unveiled for public darshan on Gurupoornima day i.e. on 15 July. According to sources, Mahasamadhi which was built with high quality marbles which will remain cool even in temperature as high as 50 degrees, is very much complete. According to the information I have, the samadhi is constructed with white marble with gold coloured border. The Mahasamadhi will symbolise Unity of Faiths concept. The Ganesha which used to be on the dais has been removed and it will be a big surprise to see the new look on the dais.
The unveiling of MahaSamadhi will commense at 8am with Vedic chants and bhajans by the students. The evening of the 15th July will have a musical concert in Sai Kulwanth Hall, the first of its kind after unveiling of Mahasamadhi. The statue which will be made of marble, placed by the samadhi will be unveiled for Swami's birthday. As against the reports in various media, atleast as of now, the ashram authorities are not having any plans to put up a golden statue of Swami. While I type this email, I still cannot believe myself that I will be typing words like "Swami's Mahasamadhi", "Swami's statue" etc but even this is Swami's divine plan and atleast we were blessed to drench in the love of Sri Sathya Sai Avatar which in itself is a rare gift.
The activities in Puttaparthi are the same. With Swami's blessings let there not be any need to worry about anything. Let us all pray to our beloved Lord, to guide us, love us, inspire us like before and let the Mission of Sai flourish for eternity and beyond.
