En un satsang celebrado en la presencia divina en Singapur, el 3 de febrero de 2017, un devoto solicita orientación sobre el equilibrio de las creencias religiosas sensibles, en el desempeño del Seva.
Y esto es lo que dijo Swami:
Pregunta: Últimamente, he estado trabajando con los jóvenes que provienen de entornos multirraciales, donde se encuentran las minorías bajo presión para ajustarse a ciertas creencias religiosas que podrían no ser inherentemente de su comunidad. Por supuesto, sabemos 'Ama a todos. Sirve a todos' y sabemos que sólo hay un Dios, pero no todos en este planeta comparten ese punto de vista. Mi petición es la que nos indicará la dirección, en particular para este grupo de jóvenes, que se esperan atraer a otros jóvenes para unirse a ellos en el Seva con el objetivo de transformarse a sí mismos y a los demás. ¿Cómo equilibrar un ambiente que es secular, y al mismo tiempo promocionar las enseñanzas de Swami, sin afectar la sensibilidad de otras creencias religiosas?
Swami: Si todos los estudiantes de diferentes escuelas se reúnen en un solo lugar, ¿argumentarían que su maestro enseña que el sol sale en el oeste, en lugar de hacerlo en el este? Todos ellos han aprendido que el sol sale solo en el este y se pone en el oeste. Es cierto que las escuelas son diferentes, los uniformes son diferentes, el horario es diferente, las reglas son diferentes, el medio de instrucción es diferente y los maestros son diferentes. Sin embargo, al final, lo que aprenden es la misma verdad, que se dice de otra manera. En una escuela india, llamarán al sol 'surya'; en una escuela de inglés, lo llamarán 'sol'. Solo porque los medios son diferentes, la verdad no cambia. Los mismos fundamentos existen en todas las religiones.
Primero, nuestros jóvenes y personas como usted deben profundizar en los principios básicos de todas las religiones. Olvídate de los rituales externos. Ve a la parte espiritual interna de todas las religiones y a su esencia. No sigan la parte del ritual externa, como las reglas y regulaciones, ya que todo esto puede verse comprometido. Permanezcan con la base principal de cada religión. Citen de su propia religión, diciendo que estas son las verdades fundamentales básicas de su religión, que son comunes a todos. Todos respiran el mismo aire, reciben la misma luz y beben la misma agua. Los recipientes pueden ser diferentes, pero el agua es la misma.
Por lo tanto, primero entienda la base fundamental de su religión. Las cosas externas no necesitan ser discutidas porque no puedes convencerlos, pero el significado interno, nadie puede discutirlo. Nuestros jóvenes tienen una buena comprensión de la base de todas las religiones. Les ayudará mucho hablar en el mismo idioma que los demás, pero, lo que es más importante, sin hablar, escuchar, discutir o debatir, ¿puede entender todo esto? solo al hacerlo comprenderán. Comprenda que si los jóvenes y otros como usted se encargan de hacerlo y mostrarse, entonces otros lo seguirán. Deberían venir a preguntarte: "¿Qué te hace seguir haciendo tan buen trabajo? ¿Qué te hace ser tan paciente? ¿Cómo son tan amables? ¿Por qué no te enojas? ¿Cómo es que eres tan paciente todo el tiempo?
Deben hacer estas preguntas y luego pueden explicarles: "Sigo la filosofía de amar a todos y servir a todos, porque todos fuimos creados por Dios a su imagen; todos somos uno. Las diferencias externas pueden existir, pero la esencia interna es una. "Entonces tendrán el respeto de escucharte. Si en el primer día, vas y empiezas a dar conferencias, nadie se sentará cerca de ti. Cuando los ayudas, estás haciendo cosas que los harán acercarse a ti.
Al mismo tiempo, tengan una comprensión clara de los fundamentos básicos de todas las religiones. Ninguna de las religiones promueve desarmonía, odio o violencia. Pueden ser enseñado en diferentes contextos y en diferentes momentos, pero la base de todas las religiones es el amor. Todos creemos en el mismo principio del amor. Eso es en lo que tienen que trabajar. Una vez que experimenten esto, ya no discutirán más. Todo el argumento proviene de la cabeza, que es incapaz de experimentar. Toda la convicción viene del corazón; no necesita ninguna explicación o argumento. Una vez que sientan desde el corazón, todos estos problemas de la cabeza se resolverán. Las cabezas son diferentes, pero los corazones son iguales.

Question: Lately, I have been working with young people who come from multiracial environments, where they are minorities under pressure to conform to certain religious beliefs that might not be inherently of their community. Of course, we know ‘Love all, Serve all’ and we know there is only One God, but not all on this planet share that view. My request to You is to give us direction, particularly for this group of youth, who are hoping to attract other youth to join them in seva with the aim of transforming themselves and others. How do they balance an environment that is secular, at the same time promoting Swami’s teachings without stepping on the sensitivities of other religious beliefs?
Swami: If all the students of different schools get together in one place, would they argue that their teacher teaches that the sun rises in the West instead of the East? All of them have learnt that the sun rises only in the East and sets in the West. It is true that the schools are different, uniforms are different, the timetable is different, the rules are different, the medium of instruction is different and the teachers are different. However, in the end, what they learn is the same truth, spoken in a different way. In an Indian school, they will call the sun ‘surya’; in an English school, they will call it ‘sun’. Just because the mediums are different, the truth does not change. The same fundamentals exist in all religions.
First, our youth and people like you should go deep into to the basic tenets of all religions. Forget about the outer rituals. Go to the inner spiritual part of all religions and to their essence. Do not go by the outer ritual part of it, such as the rules and regulations, as all these can be compromised. Stay with the main basis of each religion. Quote from their own religion, saying that these are the basic fundamental truths of your religion, which are common to everyone. You all breathe the same air, receive the same light and drink the same water. The vessels may be different, but the water is the same.
Therefore, first understand the fundamental basis of their religion. Outer things need not be discussed because you cannot convince them, but with the inner meaning, nobody can argue. Our youth have a good understanding of the basis of all religions. It will help them a lot to speak in the same language as the others – but, more importantly, with no amount of speaking, or hearing, or arguing or discussing can you understand all these things; it is only by doing that you will understand. Understand that if the youth and others like you take it upon themselves to do and show, then others will follow. They should come and ask you, “What makes you go on doing such good work? What makes you so patient? How are so kind? Why do you not get angry? How is it that you are so patient at all times?”
They must ask these questions and then you can explain, “I follow the philosophy of loving all and serving all because we are all created by God in His image; we are all one. Outer differences may exist, but the inner essence is one.” Then they will have the respect to listen to you. If on day one, you go and start lecturing, nobody is going to sit near you. When you help them, you are doing things that will make them come closer to you.
At the same time, have clear understanding of the basic fundamentals of all religions. None of the religions promote disharmony, hatred or violence. They might be taught in different contexts and at different times, but the basis of all religions is love. We all believe in the same principle of love. That is what you have to work on. Once they experience this, they will not argue anymore. All the argument comes from the head, which is incapable of experiencing. All the conviction comes from the heart; it does not need any explanation or arguments. Once they feel from the heart, all these issues of the head will be resolved. Heads are different, but hearts are the same.
