Discurso Divino, Celebraciones Navideñas de 2018 (25 de diciembre de 2018) - Sri Sathya Sai Premamrutham, Muddenahalli.

.

Divine Discourse, Christmas Celebrations 2018 (Dec 25, 2018) - Sri Sathya Sai Premamrutham, Muddenahalli.

Dear Embodiments of Love, Students, Teachers and Devotees

Today, we are celebrating XMas Day which marks the birth, life and the message of Jesus, the Christ. When we think of Jesus Christ, we think of love. When we think of Jesus, we think of compassion. When we think of Jesus, we think of sacrifice. And when we think of Jesus, we think of divinity. For Jesus isn't an individual who lived in Jerusalem at some point in time. He is what he practiced. Every time the humankind forgets how to live in peace and harmony, how to show love and compassion and how to serve and sacrifice, God comes down in a human form. And when he comes taking upon himself a physical body, he truly installs in hearts of men, the values of love and service.

As we all know, Jesus was born to Mother Mary and Father Joseph. Before his birth, there were several divine indications of the master who was coming. On the night of His birth, the whole village of Bethlehem was brightened by divine light coming from the sky. Three men came seeking this baby boy who were told that this child would be the King of Kings. One from Persia, one from Arab and one from Tibet came with gifts for the divine child. They all came guided by a star to find the place where the child was to be born. Though they belonged to three different places, they had the same vision of the star guiding them to see baby Jesus. They ultimately reached Nazareth where they enquired about the baby who was born. The ruler about the place was curious about the htree foreigners asking about a child's birth and asked many questions to the three men. The king was worried thinking if there would be another king in the same place. Therefore, he hatched an evil plan telling the people to inform him about the child so as to come and see him although he meant to cause harm. But Mother Mary who was alarmed upon hearing the King's place left for another place to deliver the child and left Nazareth for Bethlehem. She was looking for a place to deliver the child as she was in labour. Joseph and she found no place but a cow shed and the baby was born at 3:15am in the morning. Meanwhile, chasing the star, the three wise men came to the place and worshipped and adored the child and offered the precious gifts. However, they had all been cautioned about the evil of the ruler and went back to their respective places instead of Nazareth. And so the king could never find out about the birth of this child. The parents and the baby returned to Nazareth later where Jesus grew up. His father was a carpenter who was earning a living making furniture. Jesus grew up like any other boy playing and having fun with his friends.

But when he was 12 years old, his parents took him to a temple in Jerusalem for a Passover. That is where the boy went missing worrying his parents. They looked for a long time, but did not find him. They ultimately found Jesus coming out from the temple looking happy. The parents expressed their anguish about Jesus getting lost. Jesus told them that He was with his father and was overjoyed listening to the priest. From then began a different life for Jesus. He always immersed in deep thought. In another year, succumbing to a disease his father passed away and Jesus lived with his mother. However, his interest wasn't in carpentry. He would be found meditating often atop a mountain. This worried his Mary a lot. It is during time that the Mother understood that this boy is looking for a deeper truth and remembered the events leading up to his birth. She remembered the words of the angel Gabriel who said she would bear a divine child. Though she didn't tell Jesus for a long time, she told him that he was meant to pursue something higher in this life. She gave some of the precious gifts the wise men gave during his birth. Taking that Jesus went away for some time and looked for answers to his questions. For several years he travelled hither and thither looking for truth. It was during this time that his grew fonder for his heavenly father.

After several years he came to his town to his mother and that is when he met John the Baptist. He was a saint known for his wise words and compassionate acts. And get told the people that we are going to get our Messiah soon. When he met Jesus, John knew it was his master. And he himself became a devotee of Jesus. For the next three years Jesus preached the message that he learnt from his contemplation. He spoke of what he learned from within. In this way, he performed many miracles and healed many people and his glory spread far and wide. His miracles were to attract people to himself so they could learn lessons from him. However, whatever he taught wasn't taken well by the rulers of his time. Religion had declined, spirituality vanished and the priests had political ambitions. The poor and the downtrodden has no Justice and were treated badly. But Jesus stood for them, taught them and took care of them. This didn't go well with the king. The high priests is Jerusalem looked upon Jesus as a threat to his power. Therefore, they went and poisoned the minds of the ruler and influenced the king to arrest. Ultimately, betrayed by his own people, Jesus succumbed to the arrest. He gave up his body to teach his disciples the lessons of love and sacrifice. He knew he wasn't just the body. He was the divine spirit. And therefore he lived by what he believed in. And when he was he being crucified he prayed to his heavenly father that the people who tortured him be forgiven.

It won't be wrong to say that Jesus was the incarnation of compassion. If we want to worship and celebrate him, we should follow his message of unconditional compassion for all beings. He always pointed towards his heart. What did he mean by that. Heart means that which is full of compassion. It is easy to live those who love us. But a real devotee of the Lord is one who loves those who don't love him too. This is the message of Jesus. Compassion, compassion, compassion. When you see someone in sorrow and distress, your heart should melt in compassionate and your hands should help. Whatever is possible in your own might you should do for relieving distress. What Swami teaches is the same.

Masters are many, message is one. Paths are many God is one. So be alike to everyone. I've told you this story as this is the Christmas tradition. But dear ones do not just listen to this story and forget it until the next Xmas. Instead, we must imbibe the lessons that Jesus taught by living them. Love, Compassion and Service. Give food to the hungry, give clothes who don't have clothes, offer shelter to the homeless, teach those who are unlettered, heal those who are sick. Help always. May you all live the life Jesus did showing all the values of love and compassion.

With these blessings, I bring my Christmas message to a close.

Yo conscientemente veía a Swami frente a mí. Entonces me resulta difícil ver específicamente a Swami externamente. Entonces realmente no tengo control.
¿Dónde debería sentarme y dónde no debería sentarme?

- Sri Madhusudan at 'Tattva Sameeksha' (Dec 10, 2018), Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli

('Tattva Sameeksha' is a Talk session by eminent speakers to the Ashram residents of Sathya Sai Grama in Muddenahalli)

“I am the source of the presentation. Madhusudan is the projecting wall.”

--------

Question: Is Swami on the chair or within you? What is happening?

Answer: I see Him sitting on the chair most of the times. But let me also tell you very frankly, it’s becoming lesser and lesser for me because I experience His presence inside me more and more. There is a zero and there is a hundred. I was like 50, me and 50, Swami. I would consciously see Swami in front of me. Whenever I would consciously think, I am separating myself from the feeling of Swami. I am becoming Madhusudan. I am becoming ‘I’. Then I will see the separation. I would experience Him as an external presence. But off late and very often, it naturally merges into One. Then it becomes difficult for me to specifically see Swami externally. But I know the feeling when Swami is inside me. That feeling tells me that it is. Then I have really no control. The boys who are with me know this well, I would not know anything what is going to happen during Darshan. I have to just dress up and show up and what happens next is totally in His hands. My work ends with having a nice shower and putting on my clothes and showing up at Sri Sathya Sai Anandam. After that, whatever happens is totally His say. This goes on till I come back to Anandam and take leave of Him and go back to my room. That period of time is totally under His control. So, why do we have a chair here and chair there? Where should I sit and where should I not sit? Ultimately, as Swami says, you and I are One. But for the sake of presenting an idea, a thought which is understandable to everyone, He has kept it that way. So, can He not sit on the chair when He is within me? He can be there also. He can be within me also. He can be in me also and He can be in you also! That is Swami.

Once Swami gave a very beautiful example to an alumnus who asked the question to Swami, where are you exactly? Are You here or there? Then Swami said thus.

“I am the source and he (Madhusudan) is the reflection. On the laptop there is a presentation. The same presentation is being projected on to the wall also through a projector. Now if somebody asks where is the presentation? He is looking at the projection and not the laptop. For that person, the projection screen is where the presentation is. But the source of the presentation is inside the laptop. Likewise, I am the source of the presentation. He (Madhusudan) is the projecting wall. I am getting projected on him! So, while I am here, I am also there! What you are experiencing is the projection there, may not be the source here. But it is the source that is getting projected on to the wall.”

That was the best way to explain to a techie. Is Swami on the chair? Yes! Is Swami inside me? Yes, too! The moment I lose my individual consciousness, I stop thinking I am Madhusudan, immediately Swami-consciousness takes over. Then whatever happens, I have no control over it. I don’t decide it. I don’t intend it. It just happens automatically. I am on autopilot.
