“Tattva Sameeksha”_"Instalar a Dios en corazones jóvenes. Ese es Su trabajo favorito! "_03-09-2018.

- Sri Madhusudan Naidu at 'Tattva Sameeksha' (Sept 3, 2018), Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli

('Tattva Sameeksha' is a Talk session by eminent speakers to the Ashram residents of Sathya Sai Grama in Muddenahalli)

‘Installing God in young hearts. That’s His favourite job!’

When we were in Gulbarga recently, Swami went to speak to the faculty of the University (Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence) and He was guiding them on upcoming research programmes. He was very keen that our faculty picks up some research topics and everybody has a Ph.D. We were in the conference room and so very casually He was talking to them about it. To a Physics person, He was saying, ‘You do something in Fluid Dynamics.’ To somebody in Botany He said, ‘You want to study that particular fungi, but you should study in relevance to the local breed of the cow and the cow dung that can be used for culturing of the fungi to fix the micronutrients in the soil.’ And then to somebody in computer science and artificial intelligence, He said instructed that they should do Biophotonics study and this should be the voltage and this should be the frequency of the photometers and things like that. Then to the next person He spoke on Sanskrit and its relevance in Gurukula and guided that person too. And He moved on from topic to topic for almost an hour, easily and casually! I was amazed too as personally I don’t have any expertise in any of these subjects. At the end of the session, when somebody started a new topic Swami dismisses it saying, ‘My VIPs are waiting!’ All the children were outside waiting and singing Bhajans for almost an hour. So He gets up, adjourns the meeting, walks out and then He is again with the children doing the same little things.

That is why we say God is ‘Anoraneeyan Mahato Maheeyan’. He is the perfect example. He can be smaller than the smallest and at the same very moment He can be become greater than the greatest! Both exist in His single personality.

Why does He do that? Why is it important for Him to attend to that little child who comes up with such trivial, totally ignorable or seemingly insignificant issue when you look at it from the whole context of the several ashrams coming up around the world and the university coming up with faculty who are to do research or the new establishments coming up in different parts of Karnataka and elsewhere? And the number of festivities and devotees of certain profile coming here, why should He even stand next to the little boy and spend even half a minute? Why should He do that is the question? What makes Him do that? Swami does not it all the time but does not lose His patience. Genuinely, with great concern and affection and interest in that child’s life He stands there and does what is required.

Over a period of time, I understood that Swami is doing only one thing whether he starts institutions, establishes ashrams, whether He gives a discourse or Darshan, He is doing one principle single thing in every move of His and that is, He is installing Himself in the heart of that particular being.

When we finished Bijapur campus visit and Swami was leaving and all the children were shouting ‘Jai Bolo Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba Ji Ki Jai’, ‘We Love You, Swami!’ very innocent loud shouts on top of their voices. Swami was feeling so happy. He told Narasimha Murthy Sir in the car, “See! We installed God in these many young hearts! How wonderful!” The hearts which would have gone dry in sometime with all the worldly things, He made them come alive, juicy, and full of Rasa (nectar of love). That is His favourite job! And He told, whether they learn anything or not, whether they become experts in Science, Math, Arts; whatever, all I want before everything else is that they should develop devotion for God. They should install God as the core, at the center of their lives. Everything else will fall in place when God takes His place in their lives as the prime most, the core of their being. Their worldly achievements, successes, problems, issues will fall in place!

What does this ‘Installing God in One’s Heart’ mean? Is it just to know that God exists or say Sathya Sai Baba is God, do Bhajans, sing His glory? What is this understanding of installing of God in one’s heart mean?

Precisely what it means is that we conduct ourselves in accordance with that divinity that is there in our hearts. When the divinity is the charioteer of our chariot, the driver of our car, our lives; then everything that we say, think, do, speak, act should be done in accordance with the Divinity. That’s all He wants.

1. Install the divinity as the soul and whole of your life.
2. Do everything in accordance with that divinity.

And everything else will fall in place. Spirituality is as simple as that. Then comes the question as to why should we go through all the spiritual books that we need to study, sing bhajans, and chant Vedas, listen to discourses, go to satsangs? All this is to understand these two basic tenets. When we do all these things, finally we realise that ‘God is to be the core of our hearts and everything should be in accordance with the divinity’. Just to realize this, we need to undertake so many other activities to purify ourselves so that we finally reach this understanding of Swami and His work. If I can take the essence of everything that Swami says and does, it is this.
