With the Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, we are delighted to present our Ninety Ninth issue of Ananda Vahini. The weekly newsletter includes interesting musings and short excerpts from the week's events.

In this issue, we bring you a report of the Diwali celebrations held at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli on October 19, 2017.

A report on Bhagawan's visit to the district of Karwar, Karnataka from October 21 to October 23, 2017 for the Bhoomi Puja of Sri Sathya Sai Sathwaniketakan held on October 23, 2017, is also presented here.

In this week's INNER VIEW, Brother Madhusudan Naidu shares an interesting moment which happened between the Lord and a devotee.

Every 'body' is my body

"How is that devotee today?", Swami enquired about the health of a senior devotee who has been travelling with Swami around the world.

The host replied, "Swami! He is better in the mornings".

"That's because of the time change, and also the weather and food. Plus, the age that's catching up", Swami diagnosed.

"You see He has a young spirit in an old body, and finds it difficult to do all that he wants when the body does not cooperate, just like what happened with Me. I wanted to do a lot, but could not because the frail body did not help, so I gave up the body and now I am able to do so much through all of you", Swami revealed.

"In this physical world, we need physical bodies to do work, and so now every'body' is My body, through which I do My work", Swami added.

Not very long-ago Swami quoted from Purushasuktam, the Vedic hymn in the praise of Lord as the Purusha of the supreme being,"Sahasra Sheerasha Purushaha, Sahasraaksha Sahasrapaath", which means the supreme divine one has thousands of heads, thousands of eyes and thousands of feet.

Then Swami explained, "What it truly means is that God resides in all. Today I don't have a body, but your bodies are Mine, through your bodies I shall do My work", He proclaimed.

DIWALI CELEBRATIONS – SATHYA SAI GRAMA, MUDDENAHALLI – OCTOBER 19, 2017

Deepavali, the festival of lights holds great significance in Indian culture. During the churning of the ocean by the Devas and Asuras, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari, the God of health are believed to have emerged from the ocean on this day. It marks the day when Ayodhya celebrated the coronation of Lord Rama and mother Sita after vanquishing Ravana. In Dwapara Yuga too, this was the day when Lord Krishna along with Devi Sathyabhama destroyed the tyrant king Narakasura, thereby liberating all his captives. Deepavali therefore, has always signified the victory of good over evil, right over wrong, light over darkness, wisdom over ignorance and hope over despair.
On this auspicious day, Bhagawan was escorted into the Sathya Sai Hrudaya Mandiram Auditorium with Poorna Kumbham along with the melodious tunes of Bhajans and Nadaswaram. The devotees were all smiles as the Lord walked amidst them, speaking with some, graciously accepting letters and throwing chocolates and candies. Once Bhagawan was seated on the dais, there was a short musical presentation by the students who offered some very soulful devotional songs, surcharging the atmosphere with Divine vibrations.
The evening’s programme then began with Vedic invocation by the students of the Sri Sathya Centre for Human Excellence, chanting...

DIVINE VISIT TO HUBLI AND KARWAR  OCTOBER 21, 2017

The flight landed at Hubli which included some of the elders, while many had already reached Karwar for the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Shirdi Baba temple which was consecrated by Swami 50 years ago “Sai Katta” in Karwar. When Dr Anant Raikar, almost 85-years-old had came with a group from Karwar a few months ago for Swami’s blessing. The Lord blessed him on stage and assured that He would visit his home as promised earlier, and also attend the 50th Anniversary of the Mandir on October 22nd. Swami had also announced the Bhoomi Puja for the new campus Sri Sathya Sai Satwaniketanam, if the land would get ready by then. There was a frantic search for an appropriate parcel of land. Though the land was identified and finalised, just a couple of two days before, the villagers backed out demanding almost four times the agreed price! The only solution at hand was to surrender at Swami’s Feet. At that moment, Mr Raikar offered his 11 acres which he had wanted to give Swami for a long time, near Belur, nearly 26 kilometers from Karwar town. Swami said, “I will accept anything given only if it is out of a pure feeling. What is the use of ocean water which we can’t drink? A small amount of pure water from a well is all that we need. God owns everything. He covered the earth with one step and the sky with another, but He won’t take anything unless it is given with purity!”
Swami was recieved at the Airport by devotees from Karwar, Hubli and Dharwad. An overwhelmed Mr Anant Raikar shed tears of gratitude. Swami proceeded from the Hubli Airport to the home of Sri Narayan Niranjan, a devotee...

DIVINE VISIT TO KARWAR, KARNATAKA
 OCTOBER 22, 2017

After a good rest and sumptuous breakfast at the KPC guest house, Swami met the devotees of Dharwad whom He had invited to the guest house. Around 45 of them had come to offer their prayers to start another Institution in Dharwad too. As Swami came out of the room, Sri Shivanand Maitre, Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kawatra, who is the head of the Maitre family that looks after the Sai Katta Mandir, invited Swami to visit Sai Katta, as well as their little home by its side. Swami graciously accepted the invitation for the evening.
Thereafter, Swami asked Sri Sanjeeva Shetty to speak to the group about Swami’s education system and its need for the present times. He spoke eloquently quoting Swami and from the scriptures at the same time, making his point with poignant satire. He urged them all to join hands with Swami like the monkeys of yore who helped Rama. Even though Rama was capable of killing Ravana all by Himself, just as He had vanquished 14000 demons headed by Tataki, Maricha and Subahu, yet He gave an opportunity to the monkeys to set an example for others and thereby redeem themselves.
Sri B N Narasimha Murthy spoke next about the ever expanding transformational educational Mission which has spread to 14 districts out of 30 in Karnataka.
Swami spoke next about His mission which continues till date. He continues to live by what He had told His brother in 1947, to protect everyone, provide....

DIVINE VISIT TO KARWAR, KARNATAKA
 OCTOBER 23, 2017

After breakfast very lovingly prepared by the devotees of Puttur, Swami started for the Bhoomi Puja for the new campus Sri Sathya Sai Satwaniketanam, around 25 kms away from the guest house .
A special permission was obtained to take Swami over the Kaiga Dam which is the last of the four dams built on the River Kali over 70 kilometers of its flow, before it joins the Arabian Sea. The Dam which is 2.3 kms long also generates hydro electric power of 150 MW. It also has four nuclear reactors consisting of the Kaiga nuclear power plant at a distance of a few kilometers.
The restricted access was opened to Swami’s motorcade by the engineer-in-charge who had met Swami the previous day with his wife and was a part of the project since 1987, when the construction of the Dam had begun. An enthusiastic engineer showed Maps and explained to Swami about the hydro electric power plants and associated townships with a promise to take Him to the Supa reservoir 70 kms upstream which is ten times larger than Kaiga. A chair and some snacks were organised right on top of the dam and Swami blessed everyone with a group photo before proceeding to the Bhoomi Puja site at Belur village.
The local MLA along with the MLA of Dharwad Mr Arvind Ballad were waiting to receive Swami along with the Panchayat head and a BJP leader, Sri Raikar.
Swami straight went to the Bhoomi Puja site on the Ishana area of the land and performed the rituals along with the elders and guests.....
